I think the biggest takeaway from this video is that people are so indoctrinated by big-business and poor quality college that they don't realize you can run a business and be an employee of another business at the same time. I bet this way of thinking is hindering a lot of intelligent but defeated workers' ability to innovate on things they are knowledgeable or passionate about. The employee mindset is implanted from Kindergarten and it's destroying ingenuity and self reliance.

I watched this video and I have a few Questions? Do you still have a repair business? How can you have a job and a business at the same time? What is FUTO? And most importantly how can you live without your cats around you?
My big question is this, what is in it for the person who is funding FUTO project in advocating for the little guy who in doing so won't gain anything by having the little guy be able to go get their stuff repaired via non authorized sources or off those who would DIY. So what's in it for the person doling out millions to see it changed, making right to repair is a good thing for end consumers, I agree , but not to the tune of handing out millions of dollars out of my own pocket, offered to others, to have them push for it to be, unless there is an end game where doing so has a return on the investment. and much more than the few thousands right to repair might save me in my lifetime. So, what is the guy heading up FUTOs end goal, how is it going to benefit him millions in return for the effort of it being passed?

@@WeChallenge I think you posted this in the wrong place. You should repost this in the main chat area, maybe Lou will answer your questions. As far as my opinion. I think your question is valid. What are the motives of the people behind this. Are they nefarious, are they benevolent? Then one must ask even if they are benevolent, maybe the intended effect is not achieved but the reverse? And vice versa, maybe its nefarious and the effect is positive for society as a whole. Who is to know? I do know this on a visceral level, the difference between the people in power(tech oligarchs) and those that are not(FUTO), if the rolls were reversed is nothing. They would both be tyrants to protect their market shares and to gain market share. Rarely have I ever seen someone come in, gain power and not use it as adversely if not more aggressively as the people they replaced. And even then, the unintended effect was extremely negative. On a personal level I think there is nothing more wonderful, NOTHING, then having an extreme abundance of means, capital and resources to help others achieve their benevolent dreams/goals in life. Its what separates us from the lesser human beings.

I totally agree those moving up to overthrow the powers that be whether in business or politics many times become more of a problem than the ones being overthrown.
Also, Adam, I see your point and agree there are some so wealthy they have no wants or needs and only find happiness in using their wealth to assist others without looking for any return, but crossing paths with those types sadly are few and far between, the ones who have made or inherited their fortunes, where what they have they realize is beyond their needs and desires, who also realize once they are gone they won't be taking it with them, so they put it to what they consider to be worthy causes, while they have the opportunity to do so.
The guy drives a 25 yr old car and wears $5 t shirts. He doesn't live a life where being a billionaire is necessary. Why not spend his money on projects he believes in that make him happy?

Thank you for the new direction, or rather adjustment of course, with your youtube channel and all your activities. I followed your advice about Graphene OS and have since ditched my iPhone. I hope FUTO gets a lot more attention and will continue and get bigger. I saw videos on your channel years ago, but they were rather singular. Now your new setting and direction just feels right.
This has been fun to watch the journey. I found your videos when I was looking how to soldier better. There are many components in my field that are wasted over a simple repair. My interest in bettering myself led me here and I'm glad it did. Ironically now your only 3 hours away from me now so maybe I can attend a workshop one day. For the PUBLIC as a SERVICE is a very tempting and wonderful concept. Like what the public libraries did for us.
That lab stuff is pretty cool. Doing more to teach people how to do basic electronics work than what some community colleges would do with paid courses. The people that live near there are lucky in that regard.
I had a great job repairing antique chairs in boston, worked there 5 years, the owner and manager became friends, we had a great team, once in a lifetime experience. so it can work for you.

You were the first that really made me aware of the right to repair mission and why it's so necessary. I've been able to use a lot of that info when talking to my kids about buying electronics and why I will never buy Apple products. I'm so glad to see you teaming up with FUTO and hopefully making some meaningful changes in the industry. Congrats on the move. BTW, you may be out of NYC but you'll never stop being a New Yorker. What he's mentioned in previous streams is that he will be moving any employee to Texas who wants a job. There's a transition plan for switching mail-order business from NYC to TX but I can't remember what it is. But all told it seems well planned out, and I'd imagine we'll see most of it as it happens.
