- In todays video we are testing out a bit of mahinery that we are not sure whether to purchase or not. Let us know in the comments down below! To buy or not to buy that is the question. We get 2 paddocks that the calves have eaten topped and spread with slurry to make the grass grow.
Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching! G'Luck

Half fill the big tanker in soft ground the big tyres are away better than razor blades on the 1350
AGREED ALOT EASIER WITH THE BIG TANKER LITTLE TYRES WILL JUST DIG WORSE THEN YOUR BIG TNAKERS FULL
Yes a calf video please And can you explain what your preference is for different breeds and why And which breed do you prefer ? And why do you not breed some of your own calves ? Certainly would give you 100% traceability. Best regards to all
Buy a 1600 or so with recessed wheels. I'd imagine the dribble bar will travel better on a tank with recessed wheels!! The wee bit of extra volume worth it too
Its awful hard to find a good small tanker with a wide wheel base anymore. Our neighbours have an absolutly gorgeous star 1300g tanker, fully recessed with good size tyres like a 2000 gallon, it floats so well on ground and pulls awful easy too. Love that tanker, theyre restoring it with lots of welding and a new pump, great tanker, nobody botheres to make a recessed 1100-1300 gallon tanker anymore, even though there is some demand for them in fermanagh / west tyrone where i live. Abbey and redrock make nice 1600 gallon recessed tankers which is good.
If u want to spread slurry on soft ground with that tank the wheels won't do u the bigger the wheel the better I no r experience as I'm in bog ground and had one of those thanks in 1150 gallons cud not travel but I now have a 1600 with dribble bar aswell on back and I can travel with it full and no damage
Could just take the mudguards off and put spacers in and fit big wheels no problem!!
Better with a 2000 on big tyres. Those small tyres are a waste of time!
1350 with small tyres on wet ground is like a knife into butter much better off with big tyres on half loads
1600 with recess flotation would be better and more useable
We have soft ground. We went from a 1300 to a 1600 and now have a 2000gl. And the 2000gl is the best to travel. Its all about the tyres. Bigger tyres are the only way.
tires are everything! I sunk our 7618 with 6m³ tanker this spring where I had previously driven with the 7S190 and 21m³ tanker
My neighbour has a redrock 1600 with big recessed wheels. Great tanker on wet ground. 1600 tanker would be useful when you are under pressure.
So would like a run down on the calves would be good 👍.Our favourite farmers in the world.🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐑
Show us the bateman.was it a good buy. Did u sell the artic sprayer
Hi Phil, any reason why you keep so much machinery around the house? You have a new stone yard for machinery down in the yard.
Show us the calves Phil. Love the videos so informative all the time. Looking forward to Sundays video
One thing to consider is that big low pressure tyres can skid sideways very easily on a steep hill.
il say one thing you must have a good Bank Manager with all that many projects on the go. new shop house renationvation. land that needs a lot of attension. All them rushess and stones.havent you got a track machine it pull up them stones as regards rushess only means one thing lack of lime plus it needs to be reclamed lots of new drains put in. anyway its nice to see the 1200 nearly ready to go Father PHILL Must be a happy man
Small tank is harder on ground than the big tank
Is that cos of the smaller wheels concentrates the weight of the load more
@@jackoflaherty495yes the bigger the tires the less weight per square cm on the ground. It's all dependant on the tire size more than the size of the tank
Your toote get a 1600 gallonon 900s and come back tell me a 2500 is easier on ground
Yes @@jackoflaherty495
@@stephenkelly2067 I was talking about phills 1350 on the small tyer
Looks like it will do the job you want it for. Could use it to haul water when you need it and not tie up the bigger tankers aswell can be used to move watery slurry to other end of the pit to wash it thru also
Yes get it friend it's doing a good job 😊😊
Hi Phil, it looked like the tanker was doing a good job it was not making any tracks on any of the ground and it has a good spread!
Good job
I'd say buy it and put wide floatation tyres on it. I twould make a good part ofyour equipment because when you need a tanker it's better to have one than go looking for one. It would be a handy bit of kit to have.
Another great video farmer Phil a calve video would be great to see
Fair play,.. did you top the garden when you were round there?😂.. must say that mower is a dam good topper.. 👍🏻 stay safe 🏴
Smaller tankers find soft spots I would stay going with the 2500 gallons when half full
Show us the calves Phil, great video, ive started topping my grasses now after grazing, you get better re growth
1350 on those tyre's I'm assuming they're 550's are harder on ground than a 2300 gallon on 800's get a recessed tractor grip tyre if you're buying
It would be a good investment providing you can put a dribble bar on it down the line. Good video.
Great video Phil. Definitely “tráthiní” is Irish terminology for steamy grass that has gone to seed with no nutrients. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Bring on the Jersey Boys .........from Hereford
Hi Phil there is a reason why tankers have big wheels better on wet ground you need to go out on a wet day land is dry now
I'd recommend a 1600 gal with a recessed wheel! A far better balanced tanker on land. Those wheels are to smooth and will stop turning and slide at the first sign of soft ground.
Belmac , they were made in Belmont Co Offaly . Great tank that one , lovely wide spread and great pressure in that tank . If you could get a hydraulic pump for it you’d be elected
Love to see the calves
The type tyre that are on that tanker are OK but the older style of those tyres are very good to travel soft ground but they are more expensive to buy ,
Will you do walk around yard again to give update on grain shed etc. love the videos
Phil it makes sense to have a smaller tanker for the wet fields, so yes.
It makes no sense having any tanker in a wet field,
Terra Ferme 👍
1600 gal with recessed 750/800 tyre will be better on heavy land, we have a 1500 LGP major on 750 tyres 10 years and never have any bother on heavy black ground in wet times, and your still taking a decent load of slurry with you at a time
VERY GOOD
Good video Phil, that tanker would be handy
Ideal tanker for a farmers own use, you wouldn't need the big power full tractor for that tanker, its a tanker that would come at a handy price, Good Luck.
Grate tanker but I think you better off with bigger tyres I have a 1800 and we put on wheels off a NH 1540 combine on it and she would go anywhere and on 100 hp tractor and there is some spread widt
Good stuff
Stay with the big tankers with half loads
Show us the Calfs😊
I’d say it’s an Irish term. We call them Bennets here in Somerset for the seed head stalks
Lovely job you probably need a bit wider tires on her and would love to see the calf and yes should be a great yoke
It would be a fantastic size tank for Troy to use when he passes his license
Would you not draw to the field with the tanks and use the pipes then??
Yes Phil a calf video would be great ...breeds / weight gains / hardiness/ months to slaughter / grades /feed conversions/on grass and feed / sickness propensities/ relative costs at purchase....anything at all in these areas very interesting.
1600 gal recessed will travel lighter than that 1350, I changed from a 1300 NC to a 1600 recessed Abbey, the Abbey was easier pulled and travelled better on our mossy ground
Great video as always lad got my tshirt today
Yes buy.
Get a bigger thank with recessed wheels and half fill it
Those small wheels on 1350 are a lighting bastard for going down
get either a tanker with wide tires or a tandem axle as this tanker on these pizza cutters won't be much better than the 2500 with those wide tires on half a load.
a different tanker may be more expensiver but more usefuller, it might be better to hold off for now and invest the money elsewhere, think of the roi.
that's my two dutch cents on the subject
Hi farmer Phil that was a great job on the land lad great job 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Trauneens
Steammy grass in Nz and Oz as far as I know
I guess that the word trauneen would be a Galic word
Yep like to see the calves please
Enjoy your video s
Stay with the big tanker even if you can only bring a half load, them small tankers with small wheels are a disaster in wet land, wheel with is one thing but the small radius wheel makes it hard to pull👍
Surly it's just weight of the tanker plus the capacity over the width of the wheels will give u a relative force on the ground?
Is it really lighter on the field?
Need to do the calc on the tire size.
1600 gallon tanker on recessed wheels phil would be better for smaller jobs and soot a dribble bar better
I guess you have the wide tires from the sprayer still? Could put those tires on the tanker and a wide angle and it's good to go :)
Well come ji
Id say that tanker coupled with a smaller tractor would be ideal for wettish paddocks that a conventional tanker and tractor would make shite of.. Youd be on the field with half the weight of a conventional setup today no matter what way you spin it I think..
Maybe the 3075 with floatations?
Half load big tanker or old jd combine have step space where u can fit bigger wheels without touching tank sides
If the math works . Good to go.
I would definitely go for a 1600. 1350 is very small
Phil, without doubt Father Phil will know what I am talking about. Could you not use a bull dozer with the Gripper attachment at the back of the dozer to rip up those boulders. Just an idea of mine, best regards a number one fan of "FARMER PHIL"
I'd go the extra few quid and buy a 1600 tank with big recessed wheels
Be safer with 1600 on big wheels phil, that tanker will destroy wet ground
1350/1600 with recessed wheels would probably be the best
An Abbey 1600 with recessed wheels might fit your outfit better
Show us the calves
It would be a nice tanker for the 590
Show us the calf’s Phil 👍🏼
You should be using a dribble bar because of the methine
1600 recessed with 750/800 tyres will float far better than the 1300
A 3000G on 710 tyres would be a better choice and easier pulled and travel better on soft ground
Big tanker will be better for the ground half full, than the small tanker full.
Also big tanker won't cost you anything, so more profit retained in the business.
Bring on the calves
1600 redrock with recess wheels what you need
For the sake of 5 minutes work you could of moved the temporary fence for one run of the mower. It doest take much more time to do the job right.
Your theory is sorta like lads sowing fertiliser with quad spreaders cause its to wet-seems wasteful of slurry
well at some point you are too heavy. Whether 1000, 2000, 3000 or more gallons in one tank at some point you're going to find what sinks. Trouble is if the big tanks work for majority of lads everyone wants that when it's not possible. At the same time though, if it is too wet for a tractor and spreader, whether fertiliser or slurry you probably should have stayed in the yard
Show us the calves! 🐄
Show the calves why not. Small tankers are a good job but I’d be abit concerned about the tyre size. the recessed 1300-1600 gallon would be a mighty job but you are talking more money as you said.
Have a 1350 and a 2000. 2000 on 800 tyres is easy on the ground than the 1350 an she is on bigger tyres than that 1
Buy it ❤
Buy the tanker bro
Would like to see calves
Great video. Stick to half filling the big tankers you have already… make a calf video. Keep up the good work.
I would wait and buy a 1600
Calf video definitely
Get a bigger one makes sense.
Nice one Phil
Why dont you pipe the soft ground
Dual wheels on the tanker?? If there’s room to get about
Go over to Kieren in belmac in Belmont and will design one for you
Stick with the big Tankers..
Show us the calves. Buy the tanker
I'm curious, due to all the back and forth with the smaller tanker. Would it be possible to leave the small one in the field and draw to it 2 bigger ones? Don't even know if it's possible lol 😂Would keep one man working the whole time and less diesel back and forth
That tanker isnt the job get a 1600 on 900s it be very useful
Any news on the 6480
Yes show us the calves and update on ad lib calves please
