I just want to point out that I'm pretty sure the Caesar symbol is the shape of his window from the first movie.
Yeah they were not clear if they remembered that, but its 100% the window.
it is, and it's used as the ape's symbol for "home" in Dawn and War
It 100% is, a director confirmed it in an Interview
Did people not know this till now? I thought Rise made this super clear haha
Came here to say it😂🤣🤣
Working on the VFX for this movie was working wise one of the best things I’ve done - Even got a credit 😄 thanks to the KF team for making entertaining content to get me through the long nights lol
Man incredible stuff Brad! Absolutely phenomenal VFX so whatever role you played, little or large, you helped make a stellar movie
That's awesome! Great job to you & your team
I legit haven’t felt that much excitement walking out of a theater since Endgame. This franchise is special
I love that the first word she shouted was "Noah!" Reflecting Caesar's first word "NO!"
That might be Andy's best In Review theme song, ever.
Illa, illa, illa, illa
I agreed
The next 13 weeks of 13 Alien and Predator films could lead to nicely into Alien: Romulus…
THEY KEEP IGNORING IT and it makes me so mad 😂
Nick saying he wants a sequel that focuses on the human characters had me screaming “dear god please no”, we’ll get to the Beneath & Beyond Planet of the earth story telling where the apes become secondary. Love how Reeves & now Wes has made sure to flesh out the apes. This is their story.
Tam's Sailor Moon hoodie is amazing
PLEASE DO THE ORGINALS there were so many references from those in this movie which made it awesomeeeee !
The Maze Runner movies were very well directed and surprisingly large in scope and scale. I’d actually say that Wes Ball could probably make a Zelda movie better than many directors.
I throughly enjoy 1 and 3 of that franchise
Fantastic series. I need a sequel to Kingdom!
Dude in the yellow jacket gets it. This movie was bad ass
And the guy on the left he valid
@@harrisonhigdon3337 Lol, you must not watch KF. Andy is the best! I haven't watched the whole video yet, but Im upset noone thought it was amazing so far like I did.
I thought this was part of the old movies then heard Tim talk about how its doing in the box office and had to run in to pause.
Always gotta watch the movie before the Kinda Funny review so I have context to argue with one of you in my head afterwards lol
I know Wes Ball is doing a Zelda movie, but why have I not seen anyone talk about how similar this movie was to Horizon Forbidden West?
Because that movie is unknown and nothing like this one
@@TheGalacticProphet-lf8bn? It’s horizon looking, especially the parkour scenes😂
Visually, it did remind me of Horizon
Because Kinda Funny hate Horizon, they shit on the series any chance they get plus only Tam and Andy even spent some time playing them.
Wait, did dude really say Horizon is an unknown...movie? You're right, this movie was insanely Horizon. Even the story of getting the godly knowledge inside the vault. I thought Mae was very Aloy/Lara Croft-esque and the city scenes looked especially like The Last of Us. Oh, and Enslaved OTTW. Very game-like movie!
I loved how they showed the doll from the 1968 film, that was some nice fan service and the movie was awesome overall.
Hell yeah, love to see Tam back
Also surprised y'all didn't see the homage to the time when Caesar first spoke when Mae screamed "NO-ah" as her first word.
I had a pretty great time watching it last night. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and score. It did feel long but the pacing was pretty solid, except for maybe the end. It's consistently gorgeous/impressive with some amazing performances from the actors and VFX artists. The villain wasn't fleshed out quite enough, but what we got was good for plot motivation and worldbuilding etc. 8.5/10 maybe wgaf
I thought his attempt at power by emulating the most famous human empire was cool. But the real villain was Mae which is amazing because she saved the world kind of. But she also is bringing about a second war.
The part where Mae and our main apes are exploring the bunker, she almost takes a more authoritative role, and it turns from her cooperating with them to her giving them orders.
Yeah I noticed that too, was like damn I think she’s gonna betray them
Should be seeing this at the weekend
W gonna see the new movie tonight in imax
My favorite part was when Nick said about owls, "I think they shit and poop out of the same hole like birds." Grade A content.
Proximus was a bad antagonist? Are you shitting me? He’s the best part of the movie the minute he enters it
Agreed I was disappointed he wasn't in more of the film
Thought he was fantastic. Really, really not evil in any way. He kind of ruthless, but very smart with wanting to read and learn human history. Of course, he wasn't as smart as us the viewer and he shouldn't have been. He was right to try to claim that power for his kingdom.
Anyone else get a "Horizon Zero Dawn" vibe in certain places in this movie? Climbing, jumping, training, and wondering through ruins of buildings and cities. Exploring old underground facilities.
You can hear Rakka’s breathing in the after credits scene.
Aghh. I missed that. I was just making a point about how that was a bold way to kill a character for good, without a cop out...
My ranking is War > Dawn > Rise > Kingdom, I did like Kingdom but the original Trilogy is so special to me
Noah in this film is spelled Noa.
As in Nintendo of America
Wes Bell is direction Zelda.
Coincidence? Probably. 😂
I’d like to see this movie! It sounds like a good one and I’ve enjoyed the previous modern entries as well as the old movies!
Just saw this. I thought it had easily the best story (not necessarily best movie). The long-lost legacy of Caesar clinging on and then we lose it with Rocca(?) Amazing character. That death was better than any death besides Caesar to me. Then, all three factions had killer motivations.
Obviously, Eagle Clan rules, but I like how Mae is an EPIC HERO for humans, however a very daunting and threatening character from our perspective as the apes. And I liked how Proximus was reading about Rome and trying to emulate their empire and unlock the power behind the gate for his kingdom. He should have done that. Everybody did what they should have done, there was no corny villain.
And of course, the parting between Mae and Noah where he gives her the symbol of peace while she holds the gun...I mean this is really good stuff...am I crazy?
I loved it! I think it's a smart move for the franchise to give us a more YA-friendly chapter defined by action adventure. As long as they continue to make these movies with so much care, I'll be on board.
what a wonderful review! 🗣️🗣️
All that talk of the overhead shot and comparing it to Jurassic Park when a film did it years before.
The original Planet of the Apes.
Liked the opening, but was a bit worried after the egg scene - was cool but seemed very CGI and video gamey. Pleased to say that feeling was short lived and quickly foubd myself immersed and fully buying the animation. Some incredible sequences that felt very real, almost practical.
The first is Rise because the ape rise up against the humans who wronged them.
The second is Dawn because it's the beginning of a new age for the apes.
If there was no human in this movie I would have loved it still, i was all in on the ape politics and how they interpret Cesar’s lore and beliefs. Felt like it was Ape religion basically
Yup, the faction dynamics were amazing. From memory, we had 7 whole groups!
Eagle Clan (no Caesar)
Caesar Remnants (yes Caesar)
Proximus Empire (very valid way to misinterpret Caesar)
Random Humans (crap humans)
Mae's clan (epic humans)
Satellite Humans (she didnt stay so they were different?)
Rest of the world Humans (scary foreshadowing)
oh and the eagles themselves haha
I was a little lower on this movie than the team; however (having watched it last night), ranking-wise, I walked out of the theater mentally placing it where the crew landed in this review. Have a great day all!
My ranking
1. Dawn (2014)
2. War (2017)
3. Rise (2011)
100% disagree with the movie feeling 2.5 hours long. It flew by for me.
Also, Kingdom is planned to be the first in another trilogy of PotA movies.
My “POTA” Reboot ranking:
1. Dawn (amazing)
2. Rise (really good/underrated)
3. War (good/slightly overrated)
4. Kingdom (good)
So when are we getting a PotA game using the Horizon engine? Come on Guerrilla it works be perfect!
I think I agree with nick might be the second best of the modern trilogy
The Maze Runner movies are alright but pretty meh adaptations of the books.
Feel the opposite the movie should have been longer based on the players involved.
I think we could of cut some time from the eagle egg hunt
The planet of the apes titles are meant to pay respect to the old franchise that also used that naming convention. You guys would know that if you watched the originals
Yeah I didn't like this one. Glad y'all did tho!
Y'all always complain about movie length and it's getting really old, just like David Lynch says..."Who gives a shit". 🤦🏽
Catwoman is still the worst movie that's been in "In Review"
More like Horizon Zero Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Such a mistake putting all this content on one channel. I no longer subscribe to either channel despite being a diehard KF fan since you launched. I simply don't want my feed filled with so much gaming content as I don't care about it.
We need to put this argument to bed. A wyvern is an anatomically correct dragon. If Wyverns aren't dragons, then dragons look stupid
I hate the dragon/wyvern argument because these are made up creatures, theyre all dragons 😂 but I gotta disagree, 4 Legs + Wings be lookin dope, Monster Hunter has plenty of em
@@TheRealGarate lol I strongly disagree, but that's totally fine. I just feel like it's what some medieval peasant thought a big lizard would look like. A Song of Ice and Fire probably ruined them for me
Was the old guy not Mark Hamill??
Lmao no, he's the dad from Jurassic Park 3. Also the dad from Shameless, and probably a few other things but thats where I always associate him with
Fargo
Also recently, the boss in the movie “Ricky Stanicky” lol
Feels maybe a bit early to release this
Then don't watch it yet?
It's not going anywhere 😅
