I don’t think this is the worst film Kinda Funny has reviewed, not when they’ve done things like Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Catwoman, Transformers: The Last Knight, Suicide Squad (2016) etc
Those first two Mortal Kombat movies were rough
I also have a special place in my heart for attack of the clones
Yeah catwoman and Suicide squad are probably the worst IMO
@@shamnarayan9582 what makes this movie likely the worst is that there aren't any memes, memorable / iconic moments to at least remember and shape our humor etc. This was just bad and flat. Mortal Kombat has things like "too bad YOU...will DIE", Suicide Squad was full of memes, and so on.
@@hawt_dawg_man suicide squad made me want to commit suicide for watching it.

I honestly can't understand why 'Planet of the Apes in the Review' skipped the first five movies in the series. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, in particular, is a classic and still an amazing watch. As is the original. Not sure why they would be skipped and excluded from the review series. It's bizarre.
They hate old movies look at the Raimi Spiderman movies which they ranked too low.

and he literally has a genius I.Q. plus, as Nick said, he was Whistler in Blade!!

What a BadAss
The funny thing is the ending of this is more accurate to the original book than the Charlton Heston movie, for better or worse. But it's important to remember Tim Burton wasn't the actual choice to direct this, he was the replacement and wasn't given time to actually make the move he would have made - he got stuck making someone else's movie that was already basically set to start filming.

It’s been YEARS since I’ve watched this movie , but I remember that ending and it blew my mind! (Again, this was years ago so I need to rewatch)
I still really like the original with Cheston. Like a long Twilight Zone episode. And thanks for the Godzilla: Minus One mention, Tim. Forgot it was finally out where I can watch it.
This movie is something else lemme tell ya. I saw it in theaters with my parents many moons ago and being a kid and when that ending happens, my mind was so blown 😂

I remember seeing this with my dad in the theater when I was younger. I think there’s a real reason I don’t really remember what happened haha
It's a good movie in my opinion, the story and characters aren't as well developed as Caesar but the make-up effects, musical score and a lot of the performances from the ape actors are fantastic like Tim Roth, Michael Clarke Duncan and Paul Giamatti.

For those of you that don't know, or just straight up forgot: The reason that they haven't done the original movies is because this was originally a "Matt Reeves In Review" as a lead up to 'The Batman'. But Tim messed up and didn't realize Matt Reeves didn't direct 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' so now 'Planet Of The Apes In Review' is now its own thing.
Why did they start with the burton one then?

@@saycheese121I already explained the reasoning in my original comment. This wasn't originally an Apes review because they were only looking at Matt Reeves' work. The fact that this became an Apes In Review was basically an accident.

Hearing Nick recount his thoughts from when this movie came out in 2001 as if he had the maturity and perspective he has now is so funny to me, because you can bring up the video of him and the monster truck when he was with IGN which would have been after that. Really Nick, really? That guy 😆
Researching this movie was more entertaining than watching it. The amount of bullshit to get this movie made is hilarious. Also the blonde bombshell that nobody knows from this movie , her story after she made this movie is wild. Everything from DUI to assaulting police to escaping from police custody, to her latest venture of throwing acidic house cleaner at her spouse is not what I expected.
I love this episode so much and wish Tam could make it.

Helen Bonham Carter is Tim Burton's wife, its like he obligatorily puts her in all his movies.
What I didn’t know is that he was engaged to the woman who played Nova in this film (the senator’s wife). He met Bonham-Carter for this movie. So he switched partners while making this movie.

It’s ridiculous to complain about the make up compared to the original movies. Movie has nothing going for it but the prosthetics are pretty incredible

This movie is better than most of the transformers movie, better than Willy wonka 2005, better than madam web and some of the Sony/fox marvel stuff. I wouldn’t say this could be debatably the worst (although I know it’s bottom tier)
Skipping over the original films is ridiculous, those 5 movies should be included.
Like at least include the original film as it is supposed to be canon to the Andy Serkis films

They would hate them. Even the first. They thought the makeup effects in this were terrible! This is the peak of that art form. This crew thinks anything pre 2008 is cheesy.

It's not that they skipped over them intentionally. This was originally a 'Matt Reeves In Review' to hype up for 'The Batman'. As time went on, their schedules got busier and there wasn't enough reason to go back and watch the originals. With so much stuff getting released all at once, they probably couldn't schedule a whole block of Apes In Review videos
Ranking and ranking every apes movie by skipping over 5 of them is an odd choice 🤔 even if you're just doing the reboot movies, the burton film isnt attached to those, which makes that choice even stranger
Thade should be ahead of Rise villains Tom Felton and Brian Cox were not the villains in the movie the black guy sorry cant remember who it was and he was weak as a villain

Sorry but when I saw this movie in theaters when I was 10 and it was my first intro to planet of the apes it blew my effing mind and I've watched every planet of the apes ever and am real excited to watch kingdom of the planet of the apes with my dad... my grandpa passed in January but he would have loved it. Anyway I dont think this movie is that bad for a 2001 Tim Burton "reimagining"
