Bad ape is the perfect example of comic relief. He’s funny when it’s necessary, but won’t make jokes during serious moments
When rocket said “ I know what it’s like, to lose a son”. It really speaks volume to how similar the apes are becoming to humans.
At this point I don’t even care if the new film turns out to be a miss. The hype around it is causing so many creators to make videos on how amazing the trilogy is and as a fan, I could not be happier.
Had the pleasure to tell Andy Sirkis in person I cried like a baby when Caesar died... And I still do, every time I rewatch it. Great review.

This movie is honestly just so impressive to me how they managed to finally gave the apes center stage. It's technically a war film but I love that the focus is entirely on Caesar's journey. Can't wait to see how they follow this movie up with Kingdom!
Every time I watch Caesar die, I just keep imagining little baby Caesar being rocked by Will in the first movie 😭
i think bad ape works because his comedy doesn’t undercut serious moments. they let the serious moment play out, then use his comedy after to break up what could be monotonously depressing

Will say my biggest nitpick is that Rocket wasn't on that hill with Maurice when Caesar died. It started with them and should've ended with them together for that last moment. Also a little side note, Weta based the design of Red off a gorilla named Winston at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. I saw him in person in 2011 and when I saw the film in 2017, I couldn't help but think to myself, "Why does that gorilla look so familiar?"
One of the best movie characters ever written, and for me with the few movie franchises I've watched, Caesar is by far the best "protagonist" in cinema that I've seen.
Best decision to not bring Koba back, I was surprised when I first learned that they had ideas of revealing he didn't die. His death added so much and the impact was shown on how it shaped Caesar and his mind.
After the credits for Dawn, you can hear him groaning and pushing around scraps of metal. It was ultimately for the best that they didn't bring him back.
Agreed. Reviving Koba would have been a mistake. Using him in dream scenes was the right way to go.
My favourite Planet of The Apes movie and a absolute masterpiece. The "leave him" scene is the most intense scene in the entire franchise. Kingdom best of luck topping this!
If Kingdom is even half as good as this, that'll be more than enough for me.
I think the “Noooo!” scene from Dawn was as impactful as “Leave Him.” It was the first time Caesar actually spoke, and it was connected to the “…you damned dirty ape…” line that was imported from the very first movie from back in 1968.

This, so far, is the first POTA film that I saw in theaters the summer before I started my junior year in high school. Dawn technically is a tighter film than War, but I like War a lot more and that might be because of my theater experience.
War wasn't the film that I was expecting but what we got was so much more. Since it's release this film has grown on me a lot, and has become one of my favorite Apes films. Such a great ending to an awesome trilogy.

Did you catch the reference to Battle, at the end? Caesar sheds a tear at the sight of his fellow apes free, and playing with a human child. It's pretty similar to the end of Battle, with Caesar's statue.
Never really thought of that as a Battle reference but it could be, good catch!
Honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of this one when I first saw it a few weeks ago. Since I binged the series Dawn set my expectations a little high, and I was unsure about how to feel about the movie. Caesar talking constantly definitely threw me off. Though on my second watch with my family only a week later made me fall in love with it. I did like it on my first watch, but the second time made me love it. It's truly a beautiful movie.
Both a pure masterpiece and one of my absolute favourite films of all time. This was the film that made me realise the then upcoming Batman film would be in safe hands with Matt Reeves.
Truly a powerful and emotional blockbuster that further made me a fan of Planet of the Apes.
Let's all hope Kingdom is a worthy successor and follow up after this amazing trilogy.
I think it's implied that the big tank explosion set the avalanche in motion. Also, people cling on to life as long as they can all the time. Cesar wanted nothing more than to see the apes find peace. He could finally let go. I buy it. This is definitely my favorite movie of the trilogy. And Bad Ape is the GOAT.
I like to say he was running on adrenaline and the need to get them all to peace and safety. It's not totally unrealistic. The body can do amazing things when pushed to the absolute limit
I don't think it's TOTALLY impossible, but with how far they seemed to travel it's pretty far fetched. Like I said though, it doesn't really matter to me because of how great the final scene with him and Maurice is.
I absolutely love the homage that this film gives to biblical epics. You can certainly see Caesar going through a similar arc as Judah Ben-Hur, who needed to let go of the need for revenge against Messala and give way to forgiveness, redemption, and ultimately returning to his family. I also love how War for the Planet of the Apes plays with religious symbols, such as the Alpha and Omega symbols with the Colonel's army, and even the avalanche being similar to the Red Sea in the Book of Exodus. I love this movie so much! And yes, the soundtrack is so emotional, and I often listen to it as I heal from wounds of the past. Thank you so much for your reviews of all the POTA movies!

It’s interesting that Charlton Heston, who was in The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur, exists in the reboot’s universe. Heston was in the original Planet of the Apes movie, and he was featured in an Easter egg in Rise.
I don't think the humans were actually losing their intelligence. Nova asked "Am I an ape?" Yes, she should probably know she isn't an ape, and I think she does. Having the ability to ask that question is a sign of sapience. She isn't asking, "What am I?". She's asking, "Am I one of you now?" Plus, in Caesar's Story, Maurice explicitly calls Nova his daughter, not his pet.
I love this film but I think having Blue Eyes die was a bad idea, Blue Eyes had so much more potential as a character, especially after his arc in the previous film, and the fact that his character design is amongst the most unique and intriguing out of all the characters
It's such a shame how we won't get to see more of him in the future :(

Hi thankyou for the final essay on the greatest trilogy ever with the greatest characters i.e. Caesar, Rocket, Blue Eyes, Link, Maurice, Bad Ape, Lucca, Cornelius and Cornelia and lastly Nova. You should give yourself a round of applause as these video essays are very well made 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love this movie just as much as Rise and Dawn. What i love most is that it turned into a different film than people were expecting. I think people were expecting an all out battle between the apes and the soldiers like the start of the movie but the film is really about the war going on inside of Caesar. He lost his wife and eldest child. His ape clan were captured by the the soldiers in the human zoo leading Caesar with a choice either he stays the alpha and strong character we the audience has come to expect from him or he takes his revenge and become like Koba. All relatable under the circumstances. I think because Maurice brought Nova with them let Caesar know there are still good humans out there plus she gave Caesar food and water and did the apes together strong motto. It’s the only movie i’ve seen at the cinema that broke my heart when Caesar got shot by Preacher the soldier he saved and then he died. i cried buckets. I try to watch this trilogy every two weeks or so that’s how perfect it is and Caesars death still hits my heart like a sledgehammer. I look forward to the video essay on Kingdom of the planet of the apes because your really great at making them. For me it's the scene where he hears on the walkie that colonel killed who he thought was Cesar but it was his son and wife. Ceasar sees him on the cliff, looks over at his family and looks back at colonel and you see the pain in his face. For Serkis to express that level of emotion for the character while in a motion capture suit, making sure the expressions are bold enough to shine through the cgi all while just giving a spectacular performance, it's just flawless. I don't know how else to say it. It's a massively emotional and tragic story to tell across all 3 movies but they did absolutely did it the justice it deserves. I'll always respect the 60s/70s ones but they do look their age. This story absolutely deserved to be told again with all the detail and modern technology to level it up. War is my favorite out of the 3.

I've actually been planning to do that exact topic in a video ever since I started the channel! Definitely something that I'll be doing soon.
This was a film I gladly enjoyed. Especially when I had the opportunity to learn of the real messaging behind the film.
I think some of the “plot conveniences” are completely acceptable. The avalanche didn’t happen at a random time, it happened after Caesar blew up the gas tank. In a sense, he caused the avalanche that saved his apes.
As for him dying at the very end, I think it’s more that once he knew his apes were safe without him, he let himself let go. Maurice’s last words to him were a huge reassurance that apes will live on without him.
The soldiers not seeing Nova (or the apes running around), I do think is an issue. But I don’t know if it’s a plot issue. Perhaps the place should have better security. But I think the screen is showing us more than what the characters can see. I think the area is supposed to be dark and hard to see but they wanted to show us what was happening. So perhaps a writing issue, but I actually think it could be a visuals/set issue.
None of them really affect my experience with the movie, they're just silly things that I notice when watching it. As for the Nova scene, I think it was just the writing. If they'd had her sneak in more carefully instead, I don't think anybody would have an issue.
I don't see the avalanche or *SPOILERS* Caesar's death as convenient or "bad writing." The avalanche was triggered by all of the explosions, in real life they've been triggered by less. And Caesar held on for as long as he could to make sure he saw his tribe find a new home. That made perfect sense to me and is seen in dozens (hundreds?) of similar stories.
War for the Planet of the Apes is, as you say, not that re-watchable due to it's dark tone.
But it's truly and underrated master piece.
I just rewatched the whole trilogy back to back after not watching them since War came out and I cried my ass off as Caesar Died
The movie was brilliant, an emotional masterpiece. My only complaint is the “War” part, and I do blame this on the trailers mainly. They advertised it as this will feature a massive final showdown between humans and apes, but really the main conflict ends up being between two human factions and the apes were just caught in the middle. Just felt a little mislead when that happened, but then I can see they may want it to be that humanity is the ultimate cause of their own downfall to allow apes to rise for dominion. But the movie was still amazing and Caesar’s moment with Nova and his death still gets me every time.
Rise is definitely my favorite. I love a good revolution. But War is special. I think because of it's darker tone. I just get more out of a darker story. Grim Dark is probably my favorite genre. Such as George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Woody Harrelson did phenomenally and his motivations make sense. He's a great antagonist

The “war” in this movie wasn’t about 2 armies going at it with weapons and explosions…the war was over Caesar’s soul as he journeys into The Heart of Darkness, and the “planet of the apes” is the world Caesar could help build as long as he stays true to himself. That was my takeaway from the movie’s title and the story it told.
I agree with your assessment of Nova walking into the camp being a bit of a contrivance (as is the young apes climbing over guards' heads without being spotted, and no one noticed the cages being emptied until just before the attack). However, I disagree with your thinking that Caesar's death was also a contrivance. It was the endcap of his Moses journey (Moses brought his people to the Promised Land but was not allowed to enter it himself), and this being Caesar's trilogy, I think he HAD to die at the end regardless. Also, the music was fucking FIRE!! (Dawn in particular)
I totally get the connection, and really love what Reeves was going for, it's just a bit of a stretch with how far the apes seemed like they were traveling for Caesar to still be alive by the time they got there. Like I said though, it doesn't really bother me in the movie.
@@Ape-Nation how about...it's a reflection of Caesar's grit and determination to see it through that kept him alive with that wound? and he could "rest" only when the job was done 🙂
The avalanche doesn't bother me that much, because the explosion without a doubt could have caused it. I can still understand though people’s complaints about Caesar conveniently surviving his wounds on the journey. It doesn't bother me much either, but it is probably the one I can somewhat agree with a bit.
The titles always crack me up, War should be Rise, Rise should be Dawn and Dawn should be War. Oh gosh my brain I gotta sit down 🤕
I always hear people say this but have never understood why tbh, but I've got a video coming out in a few weeks defending the titles and why I think they work the way they are.
If you don’t love “Bad Ape” you have no soul. What a hilarious, tragic and wonderful character.
This series is underrated. And this is the most underrated movie of the trilogy.

You know what is interesting? I've watched several reactions to this movie and people consistently don't seem to understand how the virus has affected Nova's mind. They'll say things like. "Well, it just took away their ability to talk. The girl seems normal." But she isn't normal. There are so many signs that she is much less intelligent than a normal kid her age. No, she is not completely devoid of the ability to learn and make connections. But she doesn't react logically to most situations. She barely reacts to the death of her father. No tears, no trying to get him to wake up. A normal ten year old would be able to realize it was the apes that killed him and be afraid of them. But she doesn't seem the least concerned by them. A normal kid would have seen how fearful the apes were of the military base. (also if her father took her away because she was sick and in danger of being killed he would have probably told her that) Even if she DID decide to sneak in to help Ceasar, a normal kid would have tried to SNEAK in. But she just wanders straight in the front gate. She also asks Maurice if she is an ape. She should KNOW she's not an ape. This all leads to the fact that she has completely lost her sense of good judgement and reasoning skills. I'm always surprised when people don't pick up on that, especially since it is so integral to the over-arcing plot.
Nova having the ability to ask that question indicates she retained her intelligence. I don't think she's asking "What am I?". It's more along the lines of "Am I one of you now"?

Just wanted to say I'm not a massive POTA fan, but I do enjoy the new movies (and even the Mark Wahlberg one😅) But your videos have made me want to go watch the original movies now. Your passion for the films is infectious.

@Ape-Nation I just finished watching the 1968 one. It was weird but I enjoyed it. A lot more philosophical than I expected it to be. Visually, it's quite striking, especially when they're in the Forbidden Zone. The acting style isn't my favourite, but it's a product of the time, so I can forgive it. The sensibilities are quite dated, but perhaps intentionally so. The female chimpanzee, Dr Zira, is a prominent scientist and apparently treated as an equal, whereas the human women are kinda seen as objects for breeding with. But I think that was an intentional contrast to show humanity's flaws. I'm interested to see where this goes.
Just finished Beneath The Planet of the Apes and.... uh..... what did I just watch? What even was that? What just happened? I know there are apes and Charlton Heston, but there's no way that's an actual sequel to 1968 POTA. Trippy AF. I like the lead actor in this one more, though. Cinematography not as good. Storyline is just bizarre. And I feel like the alien make-up is really bad. Didn't really understand what it was trying to say.
@@Comrade_JasonBeneath and Battle are the weakest of the classic movies. Escape is awesome and I recently rewatched Conquest and despite the low budget is a great movie with a message extremely relevant.
Bad Ape's introduction actually sets up Kingdom, intentionally or not. It provides an explanation for why there are so many apes all over the world, who are independent of Caesar's tribe. It also provides a convenient excuse for Eagle Tribe never having heard of Caesar.
I feel like War is going to age the best of these three films.
The most impactful part of this trilogy is easily its masterful use and control of silence. It doesn’t rely on dialogue to over explain or even rely on dialogue to convey emotion. They allow everything to do that. That is what sets these movies apart. You feel involved in the movie as a viewer because you’re involved in the world just by watching and listening like everyone else on screen is.
Don't get me wrong, I love War. This for me was the first Planet of the Apes movie I watched back in 2021. All of that said, it was marketed pretty badly. Granted Idk how else you would market this film, but the people running the show really tried to convince the potential moviegoers that this was a war film (some of the trailers and the movie posters enhanced this). But I still love the movie, even with its flaws in the prison. Great review as always. Can't wait for Kingdom
Facts, I loved this movie cause I didn't have any expectations as I hadn't seen the trailers but recently I went and watched the trailers and it was 100% marketed as some huge action movie, when its more of a character focused story
The Caesar films have all been mismarketed. Rise made Caesar look like the bad guy, for starters. Dawn made Dreyfus out to be the main threat.

Hi Josh, I found your channel a few week's ago, and I am very happy I did.
I first saw the original POTA in the theater 🎥 in 1968 (twice). And I have been a fan ever since.
I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into every review of the POTA Movies starting from the original, from the plot, the characters, soundtrack, origins and of course the actor's.
I concur with pretty much all you had to say with the movie's. You are very articulate and I respect the detail you put into each review. For me as a POTA fan, it has been one heck of a ride, and I feel fortunate to have seen every movie 🎬 in the theater 🎥
I did catch the latest film, Kingdom the other night, and my wife and I enjoyed it.

Great review. I’m pretty sure the avalanche and Caesar dying when reaching the promise land is reference to the exodus and Moses. The Red Sea wiping out the Egyptians, (avalanche) and Moses dies right as his people reach the promise land. ( Caesars death) pretty cool stuff
Portions of the story were taken from early drafts of the "Battle for the P!Andy of the Apes" (1973) scripts. Specifically the impending threat of the Northern Army.
I feel like a bit of an idiot. It wasn't until this video that I realized you use Caesar's symbol for your logo.

Great review. This one grew on me. After a couple of watches I finally understood the Moses allegory and the movie clicked. Caesar will now live on as a hero in the Apes culture. He has established what the apes will aspire to be like. Great review.
Loved this film on re watch. I remember feeling a little let down when it first came out as the first scene prepared me for a very different film. I also at the time didn’t love the whole Moses alegory as it felt played out
When you take it for the character piece it is though then it really is phenomenal (still not as good as dawn though lol)
Excellent review and I agree with everything you said except it's not my favourite that would be Dawn. Woody Harrelson is so great in this, the scene where he's explaining why humans are becoming mute was so convincing to me eating the fruit while telling Caesar the reason for his actions and when I watched it in the cinemas I was expecting a more action packed film but the more I've watched this the more I like the fact it's not an epic action war film, it's much more personal and it has this feeling of hopelessness and tragedy at times that there can't be a peaceful end between the two species and this film set the standard for what CGI effects should be in modern movies.
You mention loving the piano score, I’d recommend his score titled Life & Death from Lost. It seems like he figured out a way to make that iconic piece of music hit even harder.
The avalanche happened because there was just a massive explosion with the gas tanker being blown up by Caesar after a battle so I don’t really see how it was conveniently timed

War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) is in my opinion not only the best Sequel in this Reboot/Prequel Era of the Planet of the Apes Franchise so far but overall the best film in the Planet of the Franchise and one of my favorite films. I love this movie ❤

To follow up on my earlier comments… thank you for giving attention to the music score in the films you review. It a mostly egnored component of filmmaking. It's place in a movie often contribute to the success of a movie.
Music is one of the most important aspects of filmmaking to me, it can tell the story just as much as the directing and writing can. It baffles me how so many people never acknowledge it.

I agree, War is also my personal favorite in the trilogy. It did such an amazing job capping off the trilogy and Andy really does give the best performance of his career. I also thought Woody was amazing as the main villain, speaking of my mom actually met Woody once a long time ago. I like that this movie is more about the war, the conflict within Ceasar, fighting his demons. The supporting cast were phenomenal to me as well. The music too, I love Michael’s score for this movie. Overall, it’s easily one of the best science fiction films I have ever seen. Great review buddy 👍🏻

For me, personally, war is the weakest in the trilogy. It's not bad by any means, but it has a lot more noticeable flaws than the previous films. My biggest issues with the film are the prison break section, Bad Ape, and a very specific criticism about a music track.
The prison break section of the film has just far too many plot contrivances that I can handle. With Nova being able to sneak into the base with no one seeing her, with all the children being able to leave the base with no one seeing them, and then having all the apes be able to leave the base with no one seeing them just becomes absurd at a point, at least for me. This section is what really brings down the film for me, because it takes up a good chunk of the second act.
I'm one of the people in the minority you were talking about with Bad Ape, which is annoying because I absolutely love his introduction scene. The scene with him at the house in the mountain is perfectly done. Bad Ape is comedic, yet still heart felt, and you really understand the emotional core behind him. But after that scene, he essentially becomes a Jar Jar Binks, popping up to derail the tone of serious scenes.
And finally on that music track, I'll admit this is a relatively minor criticism but for me it's incredibly distracting. And it has to do with that music track that plays during the Nova scene. That track is used so much throughout the film to the point I actually started laughing when I heard it near the end. It felt like a cue that this is meant to be the sad scene now. So many of the emotional scenes I would be invested in but then that track starts to play, and it just reminds me that this is a movie, and this is a scene I'm supposed to feel emotional during. It's a very, very minor nitpick but it just annoys me so much.
But still, this film is not bad by any means. I absolutely love Caesar's arc throughout the film and I don't think we could have gotten a better ending. But overall, I would consider this the weakest of the 3.
I get you on Nova, but the young apes escaping works fine for me just because humans have a tendency to never expect anything to be happening above them. I personally love the whole prison escape overall.
And fair enough on Bad Ape, I just heavily disagree. His humor is needed in those moments to keep the film from feeling too sad and depressing.

This movie came out a day after my birthday and was such a great experience. This movie was amazing and is easily my favorite of the trilogy

But for me i little concern with upcoming one and war these last two movies don't have big names/stars in film to bring audience to see the film rise and sawn have brain cox,james franco, keri russal, jason clarke, and gary oldman in films war just has woody in human role, and this new one kingdom has William h macy from shameless in new one but ths series needs more names besides one or two for film but will see hope new one performs better.

I enjoyed Giacchino's score in this movie, but I can't say its his best. The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Rogue One are my favorites of his. He actually won the oscar for Up, so that might be his best objectively.
All great scores, especially The Incredibles, but none of them come even close to War imo

Haven't rewatched this one since it came out so I probably need to. I felt it was very good but not as good as Rise or Dawn. Going towards the end, I thought "why doesn't Caesar just wait, all the humans will be mute and dumb soon enough?" Loved Bad Ape. Always love Woody Harrelson. That ending has Caesar as Moses, gets them to the Promised Land but won't get to live there. The virus now has done everything that nukes did in the first series. That phrase about "the only good blank is a dead blank" comes supposedly from General Philip Sheridan talking about Native Americans in 1869. Later on when you get to the TV shows, why not also do the original novel?
I plan on doing book reviews later on eventually! Including the original novel.

They're definitely there, but like I say in my review, they don't bother me when the character work and emotional depth are as strong as they are.
Ι will disagree on two points. The first beeing the avalanche. The military camp was positioned just below the tall snowy mountains. The loud echo from the explosion could have easily caused that
2. Ceasar staying alive till the end. That is supposed to be taken symbolically imo. Just like the mythical Moses reached the promised land, but died before entering, so did ceasar

The biggest convenience was the tunnel that just happened to run under the outdoor prisoner pen. Just dig straight up and voila. Lazy writing. It went from epic to silly.
I always found the titles of Dawn and War reflect the other movies than their own
War for can easily be placed for the 2nd film

I think expectations are everything when viewing a movie for the first time. I liked Rise but Dawn was amazing on my first viewing and I was so pumped for War which just didn't live up at all to my expectations and never had the desire to ever go back and watch it. Painfully slow and the turn with Woody Harleson didn't work for me.
I'd recommend giving it a rewatch. You may change your mind on it!

This is a great conclusion to the trilogy, but I don’t think it is the best third movie. It’s a fantastic one for sure, but I still think The Return of the King, Toy Story 3 and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly are better overall. Also, ROTK is not the most triumphant. Yes, the heroes win in the end, but it was without a doubt the darkest entry in the trilogy and it ends on a pretty bittersweet note.
Fair enough! I know I'm in the minority, but ROTK is my personal least favorite of the LOTR trilogy, but I get it. And as much as I love all the Toy Story series, I don't count that as a trilogy anymore seeing as there's 4 (and soon to be 5) movies that are all one continuous story.
@@Ape-Nation That’s understandable. I think it’s the best in the trilogy for a lot of reasons, besides the dark stuff, while The Two Towers is my least favourite. For the record, since Toy Story has more than 3 films, I should have said third entry in a series.

Dawn may be a tighter film on a script level, but War is the most layered and immersive. I think Dawn is pretty much perfect except for an overly bland human cast. If the humans had more oomph to them Dawn may be my favorite, but as it stands War hits that amazing sweetspot as an intimate epic.
Woody Harrelson alone wipes the floor with the human cast in Dawn.
I think calling the "screenwriting flaws" you mentioned in the back half point to how shallow a lot of criticism is. Not coming at you specifically here - just speaking generally.
Nobody ever asks WHY decisions are made in a film.
Nova walking around unseen is a purposeful choice. Not something the filmmakers just had happen to happen. Ask yourself why.
The avalanche was caused by the explosion. Ask yourself WHAT it's representing thematically.
Same with Cesar dying when he did.
Films are more than just clicking puzzle pieces together.
The trailers made it seem like there would be a war.
Well, there is a war, just not the one we were expecting!
I might be one of those who thought this movie would be bloodier and it is part of I wasn't into it. the other is more in the line of mis-lead to where this movie will go, if you remember the very first clip about this movie was the battleship new Jersey steaming into the bay.
That and the ending of the previous movie where the good humans (That we will never see again) and apes part ways. Human headed to what I thought the woods and the apes taking the city as their home (Correct me, if I'm off). My mind told me since the humans made a call out for help and a military base answered (Correct me again). this would the set up for the next movie!
the effect were great for this movie, the slow parts are the emotional stuff that is needed, the story was weak in the third act for me but worked. I did not like any memes from the original movies from the 70s and I still don't think these movies are prequels from the original either.
I dont understand the relationship between , the ape that gave Nova the flower, and her subsequent feelings about his death..
I sorta get her and the orangutan, but the flower giver, no not so much.🙃

There wasn't much of a relationship between Luca and Nova. That scene was, IMO, meant to show Luca, a gorilla and a military general of Caesar, his innocence.

Killing off Blue Eyes, especially after all the character development he got in Dawn.
I actually liked that his death was off screen and so anti-climactic. Just adds to the horrors of war theme the movie is exploring!

When it came out it was always my second favorite but over time it became my favorite of the trilogy
