I will disagree that Dr Zaus is not a bad guy and how you are betraying him in like he’s Thanos for Ape World. In many Zaus is the hero. His Faith makes him such, his love for his kind made him such and what he was willing to do for ape kind made him such. You’re on the right side if you are an ape unlike Taylor who was a human and a lot of us would side with Taylor because he is a human. This story is more than villains and heroes. It’s not as black and white as you are betraying it to be. I suggest to all your viewers. Think out of the box of the human mind and you might find something that is greater than all of us

I would say that dreyfus (sp?) is not even an antagonust. Yes he did threaten an attack, but never did anything. He defended his colony

I feel like the only really surprising twist a retelling could have is for it to introduce a seemingly new human character and then reveal near the end that he’s Taylor. The movies do feel like they’re setting up for the return of Icarus, especially with the emphasis on finding the telescope and looking at the stars, but with how many homages Kingdom already made to the 1968 original with things like the human hunt and finding the human artifacts, they might have to restart from the ground up with their version of Taylor’s story.

I actually think the movie should start with the astronauts seeing the Statue of Liberty and instead of the mystery being “what planet is this” for them but make it “what happened while we were gone” I don’t think a major twist is necessary since twists are almost always predictable. (Unless maybe they want to end the movie with an alien invasion or something not done before in the franchise 🤷🏽

Great video once again. Honestly, I really can't pick between the Colonel, hasslein, koba or zaius. To me they all represent what makes the Ape franchise so great- 'bad guys' with the most logical motivations ever, that make u realize every villain is the hero of their own story, and that right or wrong, good or bad, is sometimes relative, but that kindness and empathy are not. Over all tho, I think Koba is probably my favorite character

I really want the story to finally connect with Taylor. Maybe this is the past and humans tried escaping Earth, only to return by accident.

My favorite thing about the “NOOOO!” Scene is how it directly follows the expected reference and catches everyone off guard as a result. Before your brain can even finish its little giggle, boom

Hi, I grew up watching the planet of the movies. I like the first one beneath the planet of the apes conquest of the planet of the apes battle for the planet of the apes and I also liked the TV series planet of the apes but I think planet of the apes and beneath the planet of the apes were the best too.

Loved the review-like Battle, there are parts and characters I can barely stand to watch, just difficult to keep with it (like Brent, the pacing, etc.), but other aspects that can be appreciated for being innovative (for the time it was made)

Love the review-agree with everything, so sad that the studio couldn’t/wouldn’t invest more time, budget and homage for the franchise created (at that time), just interested in a cash-grab-but thankfully, the Planet of the Apes universe has continued & thriving, doing honour to the predecessors🎉 so even elements of Battle contributed to and can be appreciated (even being the weakest and was given the least forethought)❤

Hello Ape Nation, As of Friday, "Kingdom" has grossed $133 million dollars domestically & $308 million dollars worldwide is on course to gross $140 million dollars domestically by the end of the weekend & will only be $6.7 million dollars away from overtaking "War's' domestic totals which will only be in a matter of days. So, by the end of the week the domestic box office for "Kingdom" will outdo "War." So, there is much to celebrate here!! As for the worldwide box-office, you think it will do anymore? BTW: Love your selection of villains here.

Once Koba kills Ash then he loses all sympathy from me. That's when he becomes irredeemable and you want Caesar to win that fight.

Loved the review-for me, the first original POTA film is its own masterpiece (and the precurser for all the others that follow) and then I love Escape & Conquest equally, but of course very different tones-just the realism of social issues always struck home and the way they were portrayed rang/rings true; as with Zira & Cornelius in the previous film, just was mesmerised by Ceasar. As a kid, when I first saw this sequel, that brief scene of Ceasar reading the in memoriam statue to cats and dogs dying off from a pandemic virus had a lasting shock effect in my psyche, as I remember thinking ‘the virus destroyed the world as we know it rapidly’ and I was terrified/gullible enough to accept the time-line 😂😅 Just a great film, imho, in its own right (especially with what they were restricted with tech-and-budget wise) and Roddy McDowell❤

My favorite was always Urko. Growing up in the '80s, I got to see reruns of episodes of The Series in syndication more frequently than the films, and I always enjoyed Mark Lenard's performance in the role🦍 Granted, yes, he's little more than a watered-down Ursus, but my own familiarity with the character supercedes much negative judgment 👍

I disagree with not wanting the ending fight to happen, but when they first threw hands and Caesar humiliated him, yeah i felt bad then. But during the final fight he murdered Ash and such, ape had killed ape, so he sealed his fate by then.

My favorite villain is Koba because he is like Demona from Disney’s *Gargoyles* and Arlong from *One Piece* in my perspective! Koba, He is considered to be an incredibly well-written villain for several reasons: 1. Complexity of Motivations: Koba's motivations are not simply black and white. He has a deep-seated hatred and mistrust of humans, stemming from the horrific abuse and experimentation he endured at their hands. This tragic backstory adds nuance and depth to his character, making him more than just a one-dimensional villain. 2. Moral Ambiguity: Koba's actions are often driven by a desire for revenge and a belief that apes must dominate humans to ensure their own survival. However, his methods become increasingly extreme and morally questionable, blurring the line between hero and villain. Compelling Character Arc: Over the course of the trilogy, Koba's transformation from a loyal follower of Caesar to a power-hungry usurper is a captivating arc. His descent into madness and the lengths he's willing to go to achieve his goals create a sense of impending tragedy that keeps the audience engaged. 4. Realistic Portrayal: Koba's character is grounded in realistic ape behavior and social dynamics. His interactions with other apes, including his jealousy and resentment towards Caesar, feel authentic and believable, making him a more compelling and relatable villain. 5. Kudos to Toby Kebbell for his performance as Koba!

Never saw any problem with the titles - they fit well with the frame of the respective movie. Better than the Star Wars films did....

Love your reviews, and also love this film so much-couldn’t get enough of Zira and Cornelius, such brilliant, classic comedic scenes as well as the iconic heartbreaking scenes , absolutely same sentiments about Dr Hasslein, and Armando, and the final scene with the baby Ceasar💔💓
