- Upgrading to OEM LED headlights
We install the 2020 #LED OEM #Tacoma headlights on my 2019 #TRD off-road. I try to show the steps to install the lights which included a partial front bumper removal, and we show the Plug and Play harness from Dave Easa that makes this all possible.

I did this same mod. Much better lights and it’s a mod that gets put to work constantly. They’re expensive but even after months I wouldn’t go back to the old ones.

Just upgraded to the OEM LEDs, and used this as my main guide video. Pretty sure I would have gotten hung up on the bumper/fender liner sandwich as well, so I appreciate you saving me the aggravation. Great video Broseph.

I dont know if my reply got flagged or something. I am having an impossible time getting the grille out. Even after removing the screws/clips from the top. Has something changed in the 2023 mounting pattern?
@@theshazman not that I am aware of just the two 10mm ones and the top, radar sensor harness and the pull out
@@JustCantSitStill I was being too careful and it just needed a bit of a tug. Also for some reason mine like a to be bent downwards and it just slides right out. Cant tell you how much of an improvement these OEM LEDs are vs the stock halogens that came with the SR. Worth all the pain!

Great video thanks for putting it up here on CZcams. I've been really wanting to put LED head lights on my 2019 TRD Sport. Didn't want to go with aftermarket lights I didn't feel comfortable using them. Like to keep it OEM

@@JustCantSitStill Replaced them this weekend. Easy enough. Tugging the bumper out was the hard part. It helped to know to keep looking for clearance on the tabs. I also did the fog lights at the same time making that very easy.

It is absolutely outrageous that we spend upwards of $50K+ on these trucks and they don't all come standard with these lights. My 21' off-road has the halogens yours did and I want to go this route so badly but I cannot bring myself to make the purchase when it is was a $485 option from Toyota at new. They are absolutely shafting us.
100% agreed and my wife’s 2020 4Runner came with halogens ….. smh 🤦♂️

I have a tacoma with OEM headlights and they're the same sequential LED headlights but just like you I hate the chrome. I also chose to like them simply because there's no way I'm going to pay to replace them just for a black set unless they get damaged because they're decent lights even if they are chrome.

Very great! Except I didn’t do the research on the bad after I received my lights from Tacomabeastttttt! The AlphaRex are a joke. No. Stop problems the second I put them in. I ended up taking them out. I am diligently waiting to return them hopefully. Just seems like I got screwed. Pisses me off. Should’ve went this route. The females video you mentioned, I even watched her video before I purchased. Not sure why I went another route.

@@JustCantSitStill right! But I went with AlphaRex instead of OEM. Dealing with tacomabeast is not cool. Very frustrating and not sure what to do. I have brand new lights in a box waiting to ship back. But don’t hear anything back

I know this is an old video, but I just got a 2020 SR5 without the LED DRLS.. all halogen. Would these OEM lights be compatible with my truck or do I have to go aftermarket?
Yes 👍 but you will have to find a harness that will work with the SR5 the company I used no longer makes a SR5 harness
I just got a 2022 tacoma sr 4x4 and it comes with the halogen lights do I need the adapter to get the sequential going or no?
Not sure of your question ? your only interested in sequential turn signal ? Don’t think anything is out there to help with that
@@JustCantSitStill I wanna upgrade to the led set with the sequential the OEM one that's meant for the 20 and up mine is a 2022 but a lower trim just the sr so I don't know if I need an adapter to get the higher trim headlights

My driver side headlight’s low beam blew a fuse ig when I was installing and now 2 of the 4 led bulbs are out. Where can I find a replacement bulb for this type of headlight?

My 2021 came with the oems already. How come certain trucks come with different lights?
LED’s where not an option until 2020, Toyota does strange things with options for instance my 19 taco has parking sensors and blind spot sensors, and turn indicator on mirror, our 2020 4Runner has non of that.
So what year is your Tacoma? Can you put these LED lights in a 2020 model with halogen would it already have a harness for it?
Mine is a 2019, if you have a 2020 with halogens I am pretty sure you still need the harness to make it work , that being said it’s definitely worth the effort!

If you can get the correct harness, then yes they will fit.
Would the process be the exact same on a 22 trd sport? Or anything to look out for?
Honestly I think it would be identical. Take your time and be patient. Make sure you get the fender flares to release from the side of the bumper before you start gripping and ripping. Use a Phillips head screwdriver go straight down the back of the headlight , you see a gray looking dial/gear with a small bolt head, there is a slot to run the screwdriver straight down to it and the you twist. Pause the video during the unboxing when you see the headlight back and you will see the channel or groove for the the screwdriver 🪛 😎
Will they work on 2018 Tacoma trd off-road 4x4?
2016+ Toyota Tacoma Sport, OffRoad, Limited and Pro to use the 2020+ OEM LED headlights.
This harness will not work properly with SR, SR5 and Trail (SR5) trim levels. As of 4/10/2023 he no longer offer a conversion harness for SR and SR5

Do your auto high beams work after this mod? I just did this and my auto high beam wont turn on.

@@JustCantSitStillI figured it out awhile ago but the reason they didnt work was because I wasnt going fast enough. You have to drive around 30mph for auto high beams to work. Thought Id post this for anyone that might come across this issue.

I have an SR5 and am going to do the install. I already ordered the SR5 harness from Dave on Tacomaworld. Is there anything in this video that is different considering I have an SR5?
Should be same for as install goes , fender flares may be different.
@@JustCantSitStill I actually talked to Dave and afaik, the only difference between an install on an SR/SR5 and TRD trim is the fender flares & resistors. The SR/SR5 harness includes resistors. Not every SR/SR5 requires them, but some have problems with a hyper flash, so the resistors are included just to be safe. I haven’t done the install, but I ordered some for Christmas so hopefully I can do them soon. Thanks for the info!

Assuming the DRL is switched on , on your stalk and everything is plugged in correctly I would have no idea.

@@humblebee367 you will see a slot for a Phillips down the back side , you will see the gear. You could also use a wrench but the washer bottle makes that difficult.

I heard you can’t disable the auto dim feature is that true only thing keeping me away from these.

If you didn’t break your previous halogen headlight, would you have even bothered doing this?
Man that’s a good question, I probably would not have and just left them alone, and maybe do a bulb upgrade.

Hello, I have a question, I already have the harness for my SR, do you know if the Headlight OEM TRD Pro will works for me tacoma? The one have TRD one side and PRO another side.

Just did this, but I’m having hyper flash turn signals. The hazards work fine, but turn signals give me a hyper flash. Anyone know of a solution?
Dang that sucks , what harness did you use? If it was the one I used from Dave Easa he will help you troubleshoot.
@@JustCantSitStill I did, but no luck. I have mesocustoms Total Tail Stage 1 and the ultimate turn signals. I removed each one and I’m still having hyperflash.
@@Ram.W. when you removed that did you re install the stock ? Do you have anything plugged into the trailer light harness? Just throwing out ideas.
@@JustCantSitStill I removed the turn signals completely and still hyper. I left the turn signals off and removed the total tail, and still hyper. I placed the stock headlights with the total tail and turn signals and I didn’t have a problem. I’m seriously considering selling the OEM LED headlights and getting the Alpharex.

@@JustCantSitStill hey thanks for the video it’s really well done and informative. I just got my headlights today and I see the gray/white dial with the bolt head. Could I just turn the bolt head to adjust the lights or would I still need to stick a screwdriver into the small hole? Also I noticed another gray/white dial that’s covered with a white cap. Is this another dial to adjust another portion of the headlights? I just want to make sure before I try removing that white cover. Thanks

no just the one for adjusting you could just turn the nut if needed but its going to be tough on the passenger side with the washer bottle in the way, I suggest running a screwdriver down from the top in the slot it’s extremely easy that way.

@@ImJustEdgar excellent just be patient and take your time the hardest part is the corner separation between the bumper and fender, I wish I would have shown it better or different basically I feel like I could have done better. I really hope your install goes smoothly as mine. Also be careful to get the 3 fender flare clips at the bumper pushed out as those can break and can’t be replaced like the ones that go into the fender.
