I saw a few people saying they had some issues with the DRL not working on one side or the other. Regarding this specific set of Alpharex lights on the 2019 TRD OR, there is a high probability that one of the 2 pins got bent during the plug in. Happened to mine. Had to remove the plug, straighten the pin on the housing, and repeat the plug. All good after that. Inspect the pins prior to installation. It can save you some time. Another issue I came across was the loss of my aftermarket remote start after install. I made the mistake of "testing" everything before reinstalling the grille and associated sensor plugs. Once all plugs were connected, everything worked as it should. In case anyone comes across these problems down the road with their install, I thought I'd help. Great video of this install, btw. Very helpful.

I have the 2020 trd offroad with the oem sequential headlights already but it's not bright enough for me does the Rex have its own led that you can switch or is it a chip like the oem led

For me, the DRL light output is great when the vehicle is off and you lock/unlock the vehicle. But as soon as you start the vehicle, the DRLs get dimmer and the light output sucks. As for the low/high beams, they're about the same as OEM. I'm pretty disappointed in the light output as well but I love how it looks. Do you have the same issue? Or is your light output horrible all together?
@@omardominguez9142 If you care mainly for looks, I’d recommend these. The DRL light output is pretty bad. Low/high beams are about the same as OEM headlights with LED bulbs.

Hey dude great video. So I installed my AlphaRex luxx lights on my Tacoma Trd sport. I saw that you cut the add a fuse off and connected to the red wire from the DRL. So when you start your truck does your drl lights come on when you have the headlight switch to drl. My drl's only come on when I turn on the fog lights. Pryor to swapping these lights my drl's came on when I start my truck up, because the headlight switch is on drl. Can you maybe make some light of this. I love my AlphaRex Headlights. Not bad for girl doing her own install. Thanks for your time. By the way I have the AlphaRex Jet-black taillights on order.
Mine will do the light show on unlock but not lock. Any ideas? Also, is it normal to have one of the OEM plugs left unplugged as well as one of the connections to the new headlight (the yellow wire that plugs in on the driver side) on the passenger side? It’s the one that connects to the piece you have to splice into the gray wire, but I don’t see how to connect that to the driver side..? Could this be the problem to the first question?

Sounds like it's an issue with the DRL Module, I would check all the wiring to make sure there is no shorts. If that doesn't work call or email AlphaRex, they have great support.
Question, when you ran the long wire to the passenger side, if that wire connected stays on after your turned the truck off, how do you fix that problem and my main lights do not turn on, but the running does. can you offer some input on this please.
This is a long shot, but I ran into an issue today where the DRLs are NOT working. Everything has been fine up to this point. Everything else works fine, but I don’t get the light show or DRLs when I lock/unlock w my key fob.. the light show works if I flip the headlight switch inside the truck. I noticed that it looks like a wire has disconnected on the passenger side, but cannot for the life of me figure out where it disconnected from. It’s been about 3 years since I installed these so going off of memory is a big NOPE. The disconnected wire is on the TRD harness on the passenger side. Any helpful info from anyone is greatly appreciated! I’ll note that my switch inside is always set on Auto.
Any updates? This is word-for-word what I am experiencing right now. My lights have only been on for three months and were working perfectly until about a week ago. Light show only works when switching to headlights and no DRL at all. None of my wires seem to be disconnected though.
Do you have to use the relay box? I installed mine and my DRLs are staying lit and I can’t get them to go off without taking my red wire off the battery

@@jessestone294 From what I’m told at work. (Toyota) the “short red wire and grey wire you spliced” with the driver side. You don’t do anything with them on the passenger side. So the extra short red wire is in a way extra? I hooked everything up and they work with both of those 2 not running to anything. Did you find anything else?
A question i have to ask. Since you run 887 with 5100. Have your front have any sag yet. On the tacoma world forums. Alot of people been having sag problem with their 888 with no weight in the front. 887 is softer then the 888. I was wonder if you have any problem with sag yet.

Is the additional wiring harness (the one you attach to the battery) just for the lock/unlock light show, or is it necessary for overall function? Thank you. PS nice truck!
@@marcoblv I know I am a year late but actually if you don't use the harness that goes to the battery and you just hook up the DRL's with the separate connectors you will get the light show when you start the truck but not when you lock/unlock. If you don't mind that then it is strictly plug and play.
I just installed Alpha Rex headlights and Im not sure what im supposed to do with these 2 wires on the passenger side. One that goes from the DRL (the one we used to splice into the wire where the add-a-fuse was on the driver side) and the round shaped connector. Hey man, Awesome lights! I just installed these in my 2021 Trail Edition (SR5), so I did not use the adapter (No LED's). Right now, the right blinker works sometimes, and other times, the "blink" from the cab is extremely fast and the right blinker wont work. Any idea what this could be? I made sure everything is snug.
It's great. Huge improvement over the stock lights. In the video I mentioned that they are comparable to the oem lights with aftermarket Diode Dynamics SL1 LED's. However after driving around with them at night these are a bit brighter. Overall I'm super stoked on them.

What harness did you buy/ use to install. Just got the headlights and it seems I’m missing a harness for the DRL
When I purchased the headlights I just selected that I had a TRD Model and it came with the harness.

I didn’t install the Harness and it works just fine without it. I think the harness is for the SR or SR5 models not sure tho. I have a trd off road

I haven’t had any sag issues, the springs have held up perfectly.
I just installed mine. Everything works except for the high beams. Did you have the same issue?
Mine worked 100% - maybe try rotating the high beam plugs 180 degrees.

No, these AlphaRex lights are much brigher compared to the OEM lights. Also the DRL's are brighter vs stock.

Great question, it's for the light show/drl function. Headlights will work without it.

I followed step by step and my headlight isn't working properly.
On the passenger side did you have a single wire that didn't have hook up to anything?
Did you install the same. Headlights and did you have one drl plug not plug in and also the yellow wire ?

Yes they will, you can either splice into the harness or keep it easy and use a add a fuse for the raptor lights.
