    Just because you're parts are new and OEM doesn't mean they are good it's always good to check your new parts because you don't want to install something and then find out it's broken or even worse think that the party is good and replaced more parts and cost you more time and money because you think the part you have put in is good

    Theres a pin on those gear boxs. Pull linkage and lock the box in neutral. Then hold gear stick in neutral between 3rd and5th. Works every time.

    Leave the 50 torx slack and There is a bit to lock the gear stick inside and a bit on the box with the spring on it it pushes in and then you tighten the bottom 50 torx you should have no problem gettin all the gears first time .👍

    Replaced mine yesterday...apart from the linkage make sure the gearbox oil is at its correct level ,inspect the bush on the cage in front of the gear lever the shaft runs through it...contributes to smooth gear change.

    A case of always read the manual before getting your hands dirty. No need to guess as aligning the gearbox linkage and the gear lever before tightening that bolt is a 10 second job on the production line and under a minute for anyone else. That has been the case for at least 35 years on most (maybe all?) European GM models with a remote linkage. It's a very clever piece of design, every element of guesswork was engineered out, it just works first time every time.

    What I do do when this happens is use a tick bag on the ball put the linkage back on this can get you out of a hole for a bit

    I can't get 1st gear, 3rd gear, 5th or reverse. Could this be a linkage problem?

    I've done a few of those on the corsa c (horrible job) I'm sure you can lock the gear stick with a drill bit

    Royal Mail Combo vehicles use a upgraded metal Link Bar to replace the plastic link Bar supplied via a nominated daf truck dealer plus upgraded front suspension parts If this information is of use.

    Thats strange... I only normaly buy the plastic section on its own and just press the plastic ball joints together.
    As a tip for worn joints. If a plastic socket pops off place a piece of rubber self sealing tape over the ball and press it back together...It will stay together untill you can get it replaced.Its a quick repair when your on the side of the road.

    Do you put the new part in at the bottom of the enigine to put it back in place or do you put it in at the top? Struggled to get this out when i removed the old unit. Eventually got it out the botom of the engine. So putting in the new unit from the bottom or the top?

    Is there any difference between the Corsa D and Corsa E gear linkages do you know? Mine messed up on the last road before I got home earlier so I've been looking at replacements with a steel tie rod (mine has a ridiculous amount of slop on all joints with only 30k miles on the clock) and can only see them for Corsa C or Corsa D
    Cheers for the thorough walk through, you've saved me a bit of crawling under my car figuring things out in a communal parking area haha

    the plastic rod on these linkages is pointless as the knuckle joint wears out in no time....metal replacements off ebay are around a tenner...corsa c ones are exactly the same...vauxhall / opel not learning carrying over cheeply made parts to a new model

    There shite. I’ve changed mine twice in 4years about 12k, first one was genuine cost 60 quid second was £25 from GSF car parts and has lasted longer I’ve noticed that pin on Replacement looks worn there’s a little tang that fatigues that keeps it snug. Part no 90523189

    Opel/Vauxhall's build quality has went down hill something shocking, and now that PSA owns them instead of GM, well some people just want to watch the world burn, not that GM's cars were the best of quality either but they were better than what they are now

    • @martinstab2
      @martinstab2 Před 4 lety

      I don't know @neil I also owned a astra g that had plastic antiroll bar links and they snapped I dont know if it dampers unwanted frequencys or if it helps over bumps but there must be a reason they chose it those gear linkages are notoriously bad tho

    • @neilmurphy845

      @@martinstab2 ya I wonder is it because it's cheaper to build

    • @armunro
      @armunro Před 4 lety +1

      Cost? Plastic is cheaper than metal and then they can also justify the plastic as it saves weight and improves fuel economy? You could go on and on: they don't want you running old cars so as long as it lasts the warranty they don't care? Instead you should be forking out for a new car? I have seen so many videos about problems with Vauxhalls that I don't want one! Scotty is right GM vehicles are the worst!
