    Didn't know you could lock the shifter by turning that plastic piece 90 degrees. Thanks for sharing that with us mortals!

    Some say to put the car in third gear?

  • @woody0113

    locked it in wrong side the hole in black plastic the white locking plastic slots into it

  • @tomosb95
    @tomosb95 Před 2 lety +5

    I think the white part needs to go the other way, 180 degrees , so that peg goes in the hole. What you did didn't lock the gear stick.

  • @scopex2749
    @scopex2749 Před 2 lety +3

    I noted that you didnt correctly use the locking device! There is a HOLE where the pin on the white plastic wotsit - has to go to lock it in CORRECT POSITION - (the pin is under the THICKER of the two white arms - every Corsa has it. If you dont lock it EXACTLY you can lose reverse gear. The position you lock the actual gearbox in - with the plunger is THIRD GEAR. As you didnt lock it leaning to the left (which is the correct set up position - you will struggle to select gears. Hope this helps? My cousin BUILDS Corsas so I think he knows :))) DONT FORGET - LOCK THAT LEVER - SORTED!! ;)

    in my 2015 corsa, reverse gear is extremely difficult to engage, i have to put it in first for a few seconds, and then hope it works. Could this be a linkage issue?

      I thought when changing the clutch you just pop a couple of arms off the balls and unbolt the bracket from the box and cable tie it over to the bulkhead to avoid the agro of lining it up after, but now we know how I guess it's not a problem.

      I did this and still have a stiff 2nd gear. I’m thinking to change the transmission oil next. Hopefully it’ll make the gear changes all smooth.

      hi mate no most cars are not like this at all they just have metal gear linkages with with a metal rope in the middle they have no adjustment like this whatsoever the only have adjustment right on the edge where they connect to the gearbox but this never needs to be touched

    • @opelmantamechanic8438
      @opelmantamechanic8438 Před 4 lety +1

      yes the old ones had the orange spring thing on the gearbox and the hole by the gearstick for a drill bit ,
      it almost worked .except for when the mountings were worn and sagged a bit making it not quite right .you would need to finesse it a bit so you could get reverse and 5th etc .

    WRONG !!!! at 45 seconds you have failed to see the white clip is 180 deg out. turn it so the plastic pin sits in the hole, THEN its locked in the correct place . At 2.59 you can clearly see the pin that drops into the hole !

      @@konstantin-bigWow, this brings back memories haha. I actually found a hammer wedged inside the engine bay against the gear linkages. After that it worked fine! But yes, I'd go with a general linkage issue. See if you can move it into position by hand?
