    Update . I had a garage fit this gear mod to my Corsa C 1 L 12 valve, 58 bhp . 03’ plate .
    Initially second and fourth would pop back to neutral when clutch raised halfway. Obviously this would cause a horrible crunching noise and sound as if the gearbox was dying. Problems in fourth disappeared after the first two days.
    It took about three weeks or four weeks for the crunching in 2nd to go away . The crunching became less and less now the gearbox does not crunch at all and gears feel much firmer than before the mod was installed
    So all in all, it got worse before it got better (With my model Corsa any way ). Could of been garage error . Who knows. But it’s all good now 👍

    That expression at 08:35 says it all. I have come up with new swear words doing mine. Couldnt get reverse. Then I could and then I couldnt get 1st and 2nd. Then I could get reverse, 1st,2nd,3rd,4th but not 5th. Then I went back to setting it again and again no reverse and 2nd. Curse curse curse. Will give the spring thing a try next.

      did you try setting the rod to about the same length as the oem gear linkage and did you have the shifter in the neutral position when changing it?

    I've just ordered a replacement kit for the bushings and plastics in the linkage, and I was stupid that I did not check how much of a pain it will be to remove the likage from my corsa, I've got a 1.7dti engine and the access is next to non existent, it's gonna be the most difficult fix that I ever had in this car

    Great video and clear instructions. My daughter has a 64 plate 1.2 Corsa D which she's learning to drive in and every now and then it's a real pig to get into first or second gear. It has only done 9k miles but after some research I think it may be the plastic arm with the sockets on. I was going to fit the upgraded metal rod but can't see a way to easily get to the inner most end. The inlet manifold seems to be covering access. Was wondering if you could tell me what you removed to get to this end please. Also not sure if I can push the new on one with the linkage assembly still in place. The old one looks like it will pull off easily. Many thanks

    I came across this video as my 2015 Corsa e is making a clunking sound when shifting gears. I’ve noticed the linkage has been loose for the best part of three years but has caused no issues till now. My question to you when you say that the linkage and selector rod fails over time what do you mean? Does it cause a clunking sound when it fails?

    • @2KXMKR
      @2KXMKR Před 4 lety

      Late reply, I know, but the linkages are notorious for breaking on the Corsa C. Even if you manage to get the stick to stay in gear, the broken linkage won't actually select the gear, it'll just be flopping around somewhere. A new linkage is needed.

    There is a pin like bolt that i am struggling to remove, should i break that pin like bolt or is there a special tool for this,
    Best way to change these is....? >>Advice please, Another thing any ideas on how to change the gear oil and how to tell if its little or more,

    • @bezaleeluk3696
      @bezaleeluk3696 Před 4 lety

      @@billsteadman6923 ok this may sound a little unorthodox but in your case your linkage is misaligned the opposite to how mine was after following alignment instructions. What I did was not tighten the linkage bolt to 100% possible but to say 80% so it would change gear but not resist being pushed further the permit correcting of the misalignment. Mine was letting me slip into reverse without pulling the reverse ring up. Reverse was sharing 1st gears location. the opposite of yours. On mine I would go into 2nd gear position and push further over to the passenger side (right hand drive car) you should slacken off the linkage bolt a little assuming it is not already slightly loose and put gear lever in fourth gear and gently but assertively pull to the right towards the proper fourth gear location... move it a little at a time and go to recheck the Reverse and First gear locations to ensure they are moving towards the correct locations. Continue until you are happy with the correct gear selections and if you go too far just nudge it back the other way. Bear in mind that you have to be sensible and just gorilla wrenching the lever with the linkage bolt 100% tight will break the plastic or gearbox!
