  • This is the exact process you need to follow if you have a loose gear shifter / gear selector , this process is called calibration or adjustment
    if selector is not feeling tight or not proving the confidence that its in right gear , or having too much of slop or free play , this is what you need to do . easy repair
    we just need to lock the gear selector lever and the gear selector fork as well before doing any kind of adjustment or calibration
    performed on a vw polo

    In my case the three plastic
    arms holding the screw were slipping due to worn threads...And 1,3,5,R Gears are not engaging at all ...Mechanic told me to change entire shifter box which costs 23k... I just watched your video and i removed it, found that only issue was that arms.. I replaced it my self, Part costed me 1300rs.... Your video was a great help and saved me 23k🙏

    hello, i think you can clean the connectors and then fill them up with silicone from both sides, make sure the silicone connects through the middle. for lubing the shifter you better use silicone grease. regards

      @@yourDIYneeds yes.. i used some amount of pressure but it won't ... I fear sometimes the leather area may tear off..I'll try after few days again as my silicon spray is over ..Need to get a fresh one... another doubt.. this time I used your video and did annual oil and filter change by myself . Thanks for your video.. when jacked up the car, i saw some oil film . The location is the RHS drive axle starting area from gear box. Just before the inner axle boot , there is a cylindrical area, at that area there is a film of oil.. any hints? Thank you..

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před 2 lety +1

      Chances are either axle boot have a crack from which the internal grease is coming out or , just above that area , there is intercooler pipe which is very prone to leak from joints and seep oil .

    Brother i have vento 1.6 petrol trendline 2012, issue is gears get stuck in between some time and some time they work properly. When they struck in between, i have to bring the lever back to neutral and release the clutch and then again shift the gear to get them work properly. I have contacted different mechanics and they have different opinions ranging from
    1) Gear cables
    2) Gear shifter mechanism
    3) Clutch plates
    What can be the reason based on your experience?

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před rokem

      Sir it can be just adjustment of the gear cables ,
      As it is i did it in the video , if your clutch is not slipping then it can't be clutch . So just perform the calibration once and then proceed
