To everyone asking whether I calculated the rats repopulating, I did and just cut it before the final draft because it got too pedantic and lost in it's own numbers. Also, we wind back up at 50 rats anyway. Here's what got cut in case you were curious:
"That means that at the beginning of five years, we're dealing with 50-ish rats in Scott Lang's area, which would replenish to their population carrying capacity in the course of just a few generations. Given that rat food supplies might be lower now that there are only half the people on the world, let's assume that they don’t get back to the full 100 rat population in Scott's immediate area, but that they make a good 50% surge back up to 75 rats roving all over Scott. Realistically it's almost impossible to know for our specific area exactly how many rats would be here, but we're making our best assumption right now and I'm trying to at least give Scott a fighting chance.
So over the course of the six months after the Great Snap, rats would have pretty much bounced back, given that a new generation of rat babies is ready to go every six weeks. To get our final number, we’ll assume that an average-sized rat community would have at most around 50 rats out searching for food at any given time, since about a third of them are statistically in the nest at a given time."

Maybe the reason they don't succeed in every single future but one is because Scott gets freed too early, not giving Tony a chance to become a Father and the Hulk and Banner to become Professor Hulk
Hilariously enough, Marvel/the Russos have already confirmed that some of the failed futures WERE because the rat didn't press the button, but seemed to hint that it wasn't that many futures.

also worth noting the rat population would likely have recovered from the snap pretty quickly, just from breeding patterns, but then the loss of half the human population means less trash, but it also means a lot of unguarded food, so its hard to say exactly WHAT would happen to the rat population in 5 years.
I feel like the weight of the rat and the amount of force needed to press the button is a pretty important factor.

It was actually a NightWing rat. It saw all the futures and knew it needed to step on a button. It only took five years for it to find it since its visions were (as visions should be) kinda cryptic. It finally found the right one and saved half the universe after searching for years. (WoF Marvel theory)
There's also a fair chance that in 5 year period in between the snap and the time when the rat does step on the button, the rat population will have doubled... Maybe even tripped. When Scott gets back and is looking around the garbage level seems to be through the roof. And the number of people killing the rats is also substantially lower. So I believe the rat population at the time of Scotts revival have not been halved... But substantially increased. That means that the overall chance that a rat would step on the button has possibly skyrocketed.

You forgot to factor in rat breeding rates. In the time after the snap, to the start of endgame, rat populations would have more than recovered. In fact, with rats already being a dominant (even borderline oppressive) player in the city biomes, a 50% cut in the population of their main predator (Humans) should cause an astronomical explosion in rat populations.

There is actually a pretty good chance that the rats wouldn't cover the same ground in a few days that specific area would be out of food and there are less people so less thrown out food meaning that the rats would start going to different areas without a doubt meaning that Scott would be saved faster then then if the earth's population would stay the same because there is more thrown out food

you also completely forgot to take into account that populations (especially rodent populations) grow exponentially so assuming that there are no predators 50 rats could literally turn into almost 20,000 in a year (the ratio is 1 becomes 650 in a year due to the large liter size and extremely short gestation period), so if you factor that in the rat nest could be literally anywhere in the city and it would still 100% guarantee that the button is pressed even if that was the only rats nest in the entire city
5:10 I get the joke but taking it literally, I'm from the DC area and have seen rats very few times in my entire life, a few of those being while visiting other cities. We certainly *have* rats in DC, it'd be ridiculous to claim otherwise, but it certainly is no San Francisco

Having had pet rats, I would say you have to take their breeding habits into the equation.
Even if the snap erased all but 1 male and 1 female in the area, those 2 rats could breed about 36 litters in 5 years(8-12 babies per litter). They mature in about 2 months and can breed themselves. With fewer humans and cats around their numbers wont be going down because of predators. The biggest threat they have is a lack of food, which means more searching everything they can get in to.
If my math is right there could be up to 100,000 of them poking around in 5 years, just from those first 2.
