In Marvel's Avengers Endgame we learned that Captain America is worthy of Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. That is a BIG revelation and it made me wonder - who else is worthy? The scene in Age of Ultron made it seem like no one else was worthy but I believe that over the course of the last few film, that answer is no longer correct. Who is worthy? Time to find out!

Groot is definitely worthy by these criteria, he sacrificed himself in the first guardians of the Galaxy movie and sacrificed his arm for Stormbreaker. And he is obviously not seeking violence.
That's a good point. But it's important to point out the the Groot we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, Infinity War, and Endgame isn't the same Groot from the first Guardians movie. The first Groot died permanently, and the new one is his son.
@@realMG420 Yes, thanks for pointing that out. But also in GOTG volume 2 he risks his life to place the bomb on Ego's core, and in infinity war we see him lift Stormbreaker while giving it a new handle.

I think a big thing to consider would be Thanos’ elimination of the dwarves (minus Dinklage). In that moment I would argue he strayed from his goal of “half the population without prejudice” and pursued violence instead. Thoughts?
Well the dwarves are definitely a threat to him and his goals. In his mind they would be nothing more than a drop spilled to save half the universe. They are technically an obstacle to his success just like the Avengers so killing them was probably selfless in intention.
Na he knew they were a big threat to his plans and tried to stop them so his plan could go ahead. If he hadn’t left one alive he may have won.
@@adamwelsh163 I mean, he did win. The Thanos from the main MCU timeline & universe died knowing he won.
@@adamwelsh163 I would argue that killing with intent to keep his plans intact is still considered prejudice. Without prejudice implies total random selection
@Grayson Huggins see comment to Adam Welsh
13:18, however by taking on that burden, he chose to do so because of his concern for his friend's lives. His exposure to gamma radiation made him feel confident that he would better endure the damage caused by the gauntlet, and he was indeed correct, as we later see with Stark.
Hulk did sacrifice himself for his friends but he knew his not gonna die. So by Odin Eyes he is Good man . But not wothy for lifting Mjolnir
It was more banner that made that choice than hulk remember he said “15 month in a gamma lab” hulk wouldn’t even had been there so he technically was sacrificing his life and the hulks knowing how scared the hulk was of thanos

I think the only reason Bruce can't lift the hammer is because his soul is intertwined with the Hulk. Also, he wasn't being arrogant, he was just positive that the gamma radiation that Bruce/Hulk is made of would be able to fight off the power of the stones.

I'd like to think Thanos _was_ worthy to weild Mjolnir... for a while at least. That is, until it became personal. The first time, he was indifferent, but in Endgame when he comes back through the use of time travel he says how much he's going to enjoy killing them because now he's actually mad.
I do believe they also have him specifically avoid trying to grab Mjolnir in the animation of the fight scenes... but maybe I'm just remembering wrong (I'd also like to note that Stormbreaker doesn't have the same enchantment that Mjolnir has, though it must have something slightly similar, given the scene where cap catches it).

The only death I felt bad for was Spider-Man. Why? Because his spider senses told/warned him. That he was dying, “I don’t feel so good”. An internet meme yes, but its also a hugely sad line. He feels pain while he’s dying because his mind is warning him.
@Darth Dämon I mean yea I don’t like Iron boy. But earlier in the film Thanos mentions how the snap is meant to be quick and painless. But for Peter its not quick or painless, the reason Peter took longer to disappear. Was because his body was trying to heal itself while being damaged. Plus as Stated the Spidey Sense, warned him of what was happening. So the entire time he was put into a state of panic.
@Darth Dämon He begins studdering, you can hear in his voice he’s on the verge of tears. And when he gets taken to the ground we can see him shaking, and the area around his eyes are red. Good thesis...except that this contradicted in the movie when Thanos does try to lift Mjolnir and can't even stop it's momentum. Also, during that same fight sequence with Captain America, he realizes he can't lift it, so he holds Cap's wrist at one point, instead of catching the weapon since he knows he's unable to.

Ya, but he can still be revived via Time Travel - No body dies and stays dead as long as you have some Time Travel tech laying around. For goodness sake, one of the Doctor's companions is actually DEAD but her dying is stopped suspended by the power of her TARDIS - she can't die and won't age either. :-) For the infinity glove, the time stone can do the time travel bit - in fact, the time stone can not be destroyed as long as it exists at some point in time, that particular stone can never be destroyed.

This is why he wasn't worthy during age of Ultron. But when he told tony the truth and apologized thats when he became worthy.
The most ironic thing is, Thanos would be Worthy but, only the Thanos from Infinity War.
In Endgame, Thanos' view gets Diluted/Selfish, he decides to recreate the whole universe in his image. Also, that Thanos never gave up Gamora, so the sacrifice part is kinda not active there.
Not even IW Thanos would be worthy
That is what I was thinking
Right that shows he was never willing to sacrifice himself. Because as soon as he learned he died, he became selfish. And yeah he never put himself in a situation where he thought he could die.
@@Variocom well he was ok with the possibility of dying from the snap. I still don't see him being worthy because with destroying the stones he was selfish. He didn't want anyone to reverse what he did.
Variocom I think he actually just hadn’t reached that point yet... having to choose to give up what he loved most made him understand what kind of resolve was needed for his goal, and it was then that he might’ve decided his own life wasn’t too high a price to pay to save half the universe. But the earlier Thanos hadn’t experienced that struggle yet, so he wasn’t ready to make that sacrifice.
Seeing Cap weilding the mjiolnir was as chilling as seeing Boilin (from Avatar Legend of Korra) lavabending at an extreme moment.
I realised something, while our man was talking about Captain Marvel.
The shown scene, where Marvel said “Because before you didn’t had me!”.
She said that, not entirely of confidence, but because she is the only member of the Avengers that can consume energy based power like the power stone. While holding back Thanos near the end of Endgame’s war, she was actually constantly consuming energy from the Power stone. It was not long before Purple Titan takes the stone and blast her away, but that to me is a confirm strategically-confident self-sacrifice.
Because she didn’t help them on Earth, the Avengers lost!
Viewers: MatPat, you think you'll ever stop making Endgame theories?
MatPat: *No, I don't think I will.*
there's more fnaf then endgame dude.
@@josiahkey4929 in film theory NOT game theory, dUdE
“Just a normal human”matpat says
Also a super soldier with intense training and experience
And… super serum
Gaming Animals yeah super soldier mate
Super serum
And...... chicken nugget
But at the end of the day, he’s still human. But I am every demon’s worst nightmare. Imagine that.
It’s a joke lol
Im so used to matpats face in the intros and stuff like that that it made me think that matpat is apart of the mcu
Intro was op
*claims Tony could have been saved by wielding Mjolnir*
Me: Don't, don't give me hope
Mjolnir only revives Thor.
Time Stone - Time Travel, nobody dies. It was all a bad dream :-)
"You gave me hope, and then you took it away. That's enough to make anyone dangerous, let alone me. So here's what you do.
RUN!!"
Why does everyone just say “thors hammer”
Everyone knows its named johnathan
hahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahha
😂😂😂
I understood that reference
Lmao
yep
i cant with the thanos memes🤣🤣😭😭
that comment from the creators is such a recon you can see steves hands slip after moving it a little. he was nearly ready he just needed the readyness for battle to wield it. that was actual a nod to the comics where this is/was the case.
Matt my friend,
You are forgetting when in endgame he was planning on killing everything and building everything back up all like “ I’ll break everything down to the last atom”
That was Thanos after he saw his future, when he died
That was what I was thinking the whole time. Maybe future Thanos would have been worthy but not the Thanos from the past.
Well, it was with the “best” intentions, so he technically still has a heart of gold, just not in the right place
Well, it sounds like he is talking more about "Infinity War" Thanos than "Endgame" Thanos
Cole Kuffel That’s a solid statement but you gotta remember that the one who said those words was the past Thanos, angry that his plan failed. Matt talks about the present Thanos in his theory, or at least that’s what I get from it. Surely past Thanos wouldn’t have been close to being worthy since that Thanos was more of a violent Thanos but the present Thanos was more pacific and only did violence to fulfill his ultimate goal which, in his own twisted world, was for the balance of the universe.
when thanos was pressing stormbreaker into thor's chest, i thought thor was gonna say "you should have gone for the head"
Sadly, it was the 2014 thanos
i honestly wish he did
Thor should have extended his hand to right and try to summon stormbraker to his hand from thanos hand which would have shifted away a little from his chest
