  • I made a previous video machining the rotary valve cover. This one is more detailed and shows the operations and considerations when using the lathe for machine work. I am a bit disappointed as one video section did not come out. For anyone that is interested in more detailed of how this is done this would be it. When I refer to "DOING ALL 3 AT ONCE" I machined 3 rotary valve covers while I was set up to do so and while the numbers I needed were all the same. This is better than 6 months later taking extra time. I should write this stuff down but then I'd have to remember where I put it. LOL This process of "set up through final work" I'm guessing takes an hour or so.

You can still find these parts pretty cheap on Ebay. If that becomes a problem or vendors begin price gouging I'll do a few to help people out. I can't stand high prices.... we gotta stick together.

If you are buying a used part like on EBAY As long as you can see the original machining grooves on the surface and the grooves are consistent all the ways across the plate they part should be useable. I've also had the the surface a few thousandths over-size with no issues. Like a reading of (.017") I use (.032") solder to take the measurement. When it crushes you just measure the thickness. I may have a video of taking readings on the rotary valve cover.

Hi Gene do you have the measurements of a freshly resurfaced valve cover? Not sure where to start on mine
