I am just completing a total restore on this 1996 Speedster and as much as I wanted to get it in the water I took the time to get the nozzles pointing in the same direction. Ha ha. I ended up machining nylon bushings for the steering cable connect as the others were worn out. Ride another day.

Long journey with this boat. It was in terrible shape. Po-Boys doesn't half-step. All in and get everything as it should be. Never know what is going to happen on the water and all went very very well for my first time out. I left the engine compartment open as I like to monitor temperature and any leaks. All was good. Preparation is the key.

Seadoo Jet Ski 951 DI Oil line Charging Priming

This is a Seadoo 951 DI engine. I have the oil lines connected to the oil pump. The oil pump is removed from the engine (2 small screws) You may not have a spare oil pump drive (plastic adapter) that I insert into the drill motor (drive is from a Seadoo 787. They are easier to fit in the drill chuck on the drill motor) . NOTE: the Drill Motor must be run in reverse because that is the direction...

I was doing a little polishing on the o-ring sealing surface on the Drive Shaft. Cleaned up pretty well but I didn't notice the shaft was bent a bit. Run-out was about .060" total indicator reading. That's a pretty good wobble at high speed so I decided to straighten the shaft. I moved pretty easy and I am happy with the result which is less than .010" total indicator reading. Definitely no nee...
Seadoo Jet Pump Lip Seal Removal Tool

People have asked what I use to remove the lip seal on the Seadoo Jet pumps. I just took a piece of brass, any metal will do and I ground a relief in the end but left enough material so that it would withstand some small impacts VIA a 12 ounce ball pein hammer. Hello, what steps would you advise for getting this exact bike started after being parked since 2017? Second question, this exact bike zuma 50cc burned oil. Driving for 4 hours would lower oil by about a quarter of quart. however, no oil puddle under it. No huge white smoke out exhaust either. Please advise. If it is cylinder gap leak than any quick fix by adding heavier oil weight? Great video. We would like to see how you took tire off rim though.

    • @misamisatv
      @misamisatv Před 28 dny

      Dude, ALL zuma made before 2011 have 2-stroke engines. That means they use an OIL/FUEL RATIO when running. Yamaha designed the zuma to mix the exact ratio automatically so you don’t have to. It’s SUPPOSED to burn oil, TWO-STROKE OIL to be specific. What kind of oil are you adding?? Have you read your manual?

    You don't have to do all that just stick the oil line into a little thing of oil and then suck on the end like a straw then put your thumb over it and put it over the nipple real quick only takes about 2 seconds

  • @genetemplet7022
    @genetemplet7022 Před rokem

    Sorry I didn't show more of the process but I was only showing the fitting and machine I used. This fitting drains the excess oil that gets pumped into the compressor (fuel Pressure) . I don't know how much oil flows through this line but it ends up going back into the oil tank fill tube.

    • @genetemplet7022
      @genetemplet7022 Před rokem

      That all depends on what is wrong with the info center. First thing you have to do is power them up. On this one, the wires were all messed up and I had to repair the wires and the plugs. I have a video somewhere on replacing the info screen but that is about all the physical repairs one can do with the info center unless they are really good at electronics. Hope this helps.

    Does it have a drain plug for bottom case I am trying to get oil out of cylinders

    • @genetemplet7022
      @genetemplet7022 Před rokem

      No drain plug. If you are getting oil in the cylinders your crankshaft seals are leaking. Lots of people will tell you to replace the crank and rebuild the engine. I just install a valve in the feed line and turn if off when not riding the ski. Only way to get the oil out is to remove the spark plugs and place a rag over the holes and turn the engine over. I can be quite a process and a battery recharge. LOL Stay with it and don't overheat the starter. It will eventually fire the spark plugs.

      @shannonwilliams601 Před rokem

      Don't listen to gene he has no idea what the h*** hes talking about The fastest way to get the oil out is to remove the car braider and stick a piece of hose down in the bottom of the case and use a funnel and a shot back and suck it right out or you can pull the case pressure line off of the carburetor stick it in the funnel and use a shop vacuum and pull it right out and as far as oil getting in it from the crank sills again that guy is full of s*** you need to replace the crank and do it correctly hes trying to half acid together you don't want to do that

  • @genetemplet7022
    @genetemplet7022 Před rokem

    If you are buying a used part like on EBAY As long as you can see the original machining grooves on the surface and the grooves are consistent all the ways across the plate they part should be useable. I've also had the the surface a few thousandths over-size with no issues. Like a reading of (.017") I use (.032") solder to take the measurement. When it crushes you just measure the thickness. I may have a video of taking readings on the rotary valve cover.

You show us to line the 360 at TOP port when the procedure is to line 360 at the BOTTOM port. I would take this video down man, I was not happy until I discovered that your instruction was wrong and that it turned out to be an easy fix lol.

    • @genetemplet7022
      @genetemplet7022 Před rokem

      Sorry you had problems. If you watch the video you will see that there are TWO points to check the rotary valve timing. ONE with 360 degree mark on the top of the intake port, and THE SECOND to check with the 360 degree mark on the bottom of the intake port. If you read the degrees when I do each one you'll see the difference. The video is absolutely positively correct. The reason to check BOTH TOP and BOTTOM degree is because sometimes you can flip the rotary valve over and get the readings closer to spec. There is a tolerance in the manual that is listed in degrees of variance.

      These problem can be difficult to find. I use a vacuum/pressure pump I purchased for $40 or so years ago. I block off the "reserve" and "on" lines as close as I can get to the fuel baffle. I have clamps for that I get off Amazon. I usually pull a vacuum first to see if I have a leak, then I pressure up to find the leak. Lots of times it is the gasket on the water separator.
