- If the pressures of modern day life sometimes seems overwhelming, step back and take stock. You never know when it is going to be your last. Turn off the news, switch off the phone and close down that PC.

Life is too short for consuming all the negative BS going on in the world. My advice is to unplug from all social media and don't read the news. I've gone one step further by reducing my hours at work (now doing just 28 hours over Mon, Wed, Fri) because I'm tired of working all week couped up indoors. My life will be mine again now.

Definitely. No TV, no news. No BS. I've gone a step further and retired completely, early at 61. No more rat race. Living on a tiny amount, but have a rescued doggie and just enjoying a quiet peaceful life 🙂
The constant bombardment of bad news is a form of torture, but people forget to simply walk away from it & relax. Look at the trees & the grass. Do they care? = Of course not.
I read a book about 30 years ago called "Being nothing, going nowhere" (Tibetan Buddhist). How to empty the mind.
The mind is like a room full of birds, so open the windows. They all fly out.

These days I have started feeling the same as I did in the early/mid 1960s when the threat of nuclear war was quite high. The leaders of some countries never seem to learn.
The Cuban missile crisis was touch and go.
There are two absolute requirements for me to class a day as good:
1 - Wake up
2 - Having a pulse
Anything over and above those are bonuses/luxuries.

Looking at the way, way, bigger picture I have always wondered why something out there didn't beat us to all this intelligent life malarky a few million years ago and move on out into the galaxy to colonise, in which case we would have found evidence by now. We may just be exceeding rare in which case we should respect ourselves more, but it's more likely that all those 'here today gone tomorrow' galactic pals followed the the same competitive evolutionary route as us, whacking each other over the head with jaw bones before advancing on to wiping themselves out of existence. I call it 'the 'technical flashpoint', and unfortunately we are reaching it. The logic seems sound to me. On a more positive note I'v just had a nice pint of cider down the pub.
