Why are we rarely consulted over decisions that effect us and we are paying for.

  • I guess it is much the same where you live, decisions made on your behalf that you know nothing about. Be it local or national. It`s your money they are spending.

    Hi Al , remember people only act on their own behalf , good honest people are few and far between, covid and the petrol shortages showed how selfish and nasty the people of this country have become , pure hatred from people fighting over bog roll and pizza’s during covid and the petrol shortages, when spending tax payers money it is open house and no accountability and that will never change , the breed of human in this country is chalk and cheese to years gone by, look after those closest to you and enjoy retirement as much as you can . The only power older folk have is the vote and that is limited.

    When consultations are done they tend to be done on the quiet and target people who are most likely to be agreeable with loaded questions that are guaranteed to give the response that is required to do whatever it is that's already been decided upon. The consultation will also be at great expense of course and likely will be via a third party that coincidentally has some direct connection with one of our public servants.

      I live in Ireland where we have the PR system. It's a nightmare. Decisions take forever - it took around 8 months to even form a Government at the last General Election! Minority parties get to introduce crazy schemes - the Green Party's 'Bottle and Can' Deposit Scheme being the latest - consumers pay an extra mandatory deposit fee at the till on every plastic bottle and tin can, which you then have to wash and return to 'claim back' your deposit via a voucher redeemable in the store! Yup, it's ridiculous! Prices have simply gone up across the board and most consumers fail to get their money back (too much hassle) or the machines which take the recycled bottles/cans don't work!! You couldn't make this stuff up! Crazy. PR? Be very careful what you wish for!!✌️🤪

As soon as people realise that they don’t actually work for us at all, they work for themselves all following an agenda… This comment may be censored so won’t say more. Suffice to say if you’re on the voting register you’ve given permission for someone (whether you voted or not) to act on your behalf. All local councils will put out public consultations, as can be seen from their website "A trial of pedestrianisation in Torbay Road was carried out after public consultation in early 2022, following the Covid pandemic. This was amended to partial pedestrianisation in early 2023, and further changes were made to the layout and traffic flow in the summer of 2023."

    The root of all of the problems you describe is the fact that the monetary supply itself is completely controlled by central banks working hand-in-hand with the politicians in government. They can print infinite amounts of money whenever they want, which benefits those closest to the spigot from which the money is produced (that's the politicians and their friends they award these big projects too). If only there was a way of separating money and state, which would mean politicians would have to answer to us like they are supposes to. A type of money that the people can use without having to ask for permission from governments and central banks. Study Bitcoin.

    • @loc4725
      @loc4725 Před měsícem

      It doesn't work like that. Central banks can print money but not indiscriminately. Actions have consequences.
      The fundamental problems are apathy, the ability of governments and the executive in particular to legally lie to the electorate and a lack of accountability at the ballot box.
      And of those the first is the most egregious.

It's interesting how pay goes up and close behind all the bills, council tax or rent, internet provider etc etc up their prices also. It feels like a 'we can get a little more now, sneak it in' than a 'we need to increase our bills because...' thing. And the traffic works and single lane choice sound rediculous!

Huge technologies (the phone) are simply brought in with LIFE-CHANGING, WORLD-CHANGING effects that are simply brought into what we are supposed to call the norm now. Well it isn't, it's simply a choice we all make, and lets face it the phones have completely fucked us all over. I'm 29, incredibly bored of this tech now, where are the adults in the room that might restructure our world to be more fun and enjoyable, sick and tired of us thinking all of this 'progress' is just inevitable, it's not, its a political choice, same as war.
