You hit the nail on the head, you go into a pub, everyone on their phone , go into a restaurant, mom, dad, the kids all on their phones or tablets! People have forgotten how to talk to each other and how many people walking along the pavement do you see glued to the phone screen? The list goes on...............................I'm not getting rid of mine though😁
Mmm, endless strikes, power cuts, uncollected bins, collapsing industries, mass unemployment, stagflation, IMF rescue, the only time in UK history emigration exceeded immigration, even the PM saying he'd leave the country if he were young, early Sat & all day Sun closing, service with a sullen look, no home shopping, platform shoes, flares, having to rent a B&W TV, poor housing, relatively few foreign holidays & car ownership, and abandoning the commonwealth for the EEC. It was great...
Absolutely well said sir...😊👌don't do ANY social media, just watch you tube, TV hardly ever watched nowadays, radio 📻 good enough for me! I see people everywhere walking around staring at their phones 📱 things dangling out there earlobes 😮even riding bicycles watching their screens 😮😮😮world has changed massively over last few years & no coincidences how things are deteriorated by the wek,month,year....when there's an invasion from the skies, people won't see it as too busy on their tick tock & Facebook yo notice 😂😂😂😂🎉
I've been obsessed with news for decades, but watch it less and less nowadays. It is depressing, it is the same old stuff over and over, and there is not a damn thing I or anyone else can do about it. It just stresses us out and makes us feel useless. I got given a newspaper printed on my birthday as a gift, and to my surprise the stories on there were no different from the stories today, all featuring pretty much the same headlines! I kid you not. Israel. Iran. Russia. Westminster controversies. Economic issues. Nothing changes, but we can change if we want to. Life is short. It's good to know what is going on in the world but there is a limit. I say make sure you switch off for much of the week.
A couple of times a week I cut through a local park on my way to a friends house, he is to elderly and shaky to get his shopping so I get it for him. I notice as I cut through the park the number of parents sitting on park benches, eyes glued to the screen of their phones not taking the slightest notice of the world around them or what their kids are up to, or if they are even safe, would they even notice if one of their kids wandered off or even worse in this day and age!
I haven’t stop watching the news but I ditched social media facebook and instagram about 4 years ago. The best thing I did in years why I spent so much time scrolling through that garbage I’ll never know
Just imagine if social media, smartphones and tv didn’t exist. How much more time people would have to put towards other things that could add more value to their lives.
Smart phones are an addiction to many people , many years ago we would visit family and friends or meet up in a pub and pubs were hubs that's why there were so many of them but looks now loads have closed down .
Agree, Social Media is inherently flawed. Imagine inviting a thousand random people to a party and expecting them to all get along and behave ! Click bait, scammers, Trolls and more. I too do not watch the news anymore, this is the only online platform I use now. Escaping from the entrapment of online social media and back into the real world, with a real circle of friends. 👍
Spot on I’m with you I got rid of the TV some time ago don’t miss it one dam bit don’t lessen to the news don’t care life much more relaxing with out it
Don’t worry Al we will all be back to typewriters and talking to each other soon enough when the whopping great EMP arrives either naturally or deliberate (ref the Carrington event). Online bank accounts, phones etc will just pack up altogether. So will the supermarkets within a few days so we should all make sure we have a good supply of ready cash, beans and corned beef stashed away ready.
@@stenchosmells The Carrington event was a major elctro magnetic storm that fried a lot of the telegraph communications and electrical supplies in 1859. It was likely caused by a direct hit on Earth by solar wind from a large solar flare. the sensitive electronics we rely on today will be toast when the next big one arrives. EMP stands for ElectoMagnetic Pulse and can be generated by a weapon.
@@timwhittey4121 fantastic ! Thanks for the information I didn’t know that. Sounds similar to when today’s glitches happen albeit on a smaller scale. ie When the card machines don’t work and there’s 20 people in the queue all standing with their phones waiting to pay and the cashier is shouting at the top of her voice. Please use cash !! One chap walks from the back of the queue and pays for his milk with cash while the rest look at him like an alien for carrying any. So when the powers that be get their way and make cash obsolete we really are in trouble Cheers again !
Good advice! I don't take a phone out with me unless I'm out cycling for emergency reasons. I don't watch TV. I think mobile phones and TVs hypnotise people. If I wish to be hypnotised I'll go seek out Paul McKenna and have a bit of fun with it.
Hi. I'm not a subscriber, but it looks like CZcams algorthym put your video in front of me due to watching previous plumbing tips. The theme of your video intrigued me. I thought you were going to talk about living in a detached state in the middle of the country. Lol. I know what you mean about "social media". I stopped this many years ago, but the reality is, for someone like myself, I've got no choice but to use technology due to working and having to pay my bills to try and survive. When you analyse society and what we've built and what we're part of - it's crazy! Working all the hours, not seeing family much, not being able to enjoy nature (as you identified in video), high stress levels due to daily demands; only to have a few weeks off on holiday, pay the bills, put food in your belly and so forth. It's a system that I struggle with and I personally cannot find an answer apart from trying concentrate on the positive rather the negatives all the time. My value system is 100% in conflict with daily demands. I guess it could be worse. 🙂
I think it's great for people who live with someone and completely understand and agree, however people living on their own the phone can be s lifeline
Well said Al. I've not watched the tv for years, except for a bit a Christmas. Not on social media although i do have a phone, mainly for work, and a laptop, which i watch select youtube videos such as yourself. The news is too manipulative and how do we know that they give us a balanced unbiased view ? The local pub is now a gastro pub and the locals don't go in much, so i've not seen the barmaid, but I think i'll call in before long. Cheers
"Smart"Phone addiction is definitely a real thing. They're such a time sink. Imagine what we could get done if we allowed ourselves to peel away from being plugged in constantly
Very true. Unfortunately , when you have an at risk relative, this isnt viable for me. I have stopped watching live tv, and all msm . I dont do any social media except family WhatsApp group. Thats it. Oh, and your channel, of course 😂.

Yeah, copper will be switched off next year as landline calls will have to go through a router. Just hope you don't get a powercut in the house when you want to dial 999! All very well having a mobile but if you don't use it for six months they cut you off.
Scrapped the TV years ago, hence, watching great fellows like this one. Only use an old nokia mob, and forget to take it out most days. Always love these videos though, so that makes me a 'semi' techno? Peace and goodwill.

We get so many inclusive minutes now, my main mobile bill is £5 monthly. Notifications off and no social media. 15 years ago things were different and I had a second number I took with me on holidays. I still have that number and it's pay as you go with non expiring credit and only needs topping up three times a year. It's a folding doro. When someone calls my main phone and it's not answered it forwards to the doro. My family know to call me if I don't answer a text that's important. This way my smartphone gets a lot less attention and for calling family the doro is so much easier to use. Thanks for the video, we all need to escape from time to time.
I'm way in front of you on this one. :). Just ask yourself do I need to know this and can I do anything about it. 99% of the time it be a no.so turn it off. Anyway always good to hear from you , keep the good work up
