  • Around 9 months into the CZcams journey and although I'm really enjoying it, I'm wondering why we seem to have stopped growing despite uploading weekly content and getting consistently good feedback? So I made this piece to camera to tell you where I am, how I feel and how you might help us to start growing again and reach 1000 subscribers by my birthday on 31st July. I know it's a big ask but you'd be surprised at what I tell you in the video about our analytics. One last thing, I really do appreciate your support of the channel, some channels in particular who truly keep me motivated, not just as a CZcamsr but as an athlete😊

Hi Andy, thanks for sharing your thoughts and know that you are not alone. As small creators, we're all wondering the same thing, and unfortunately there are many things like the YT algorithm that we don't control. I'm focusing on what is important to me, which is training and racing, where my YT channel is one of the outputs. Stay the course, be patient, and your subscribers will grow. Cheers.

Hi Reto. I just felt a little puzzled as to why the channel growth had stalled despite uploading regular content so felt it was a good moment to level with my audience. However I’m doing it because I enjoy it and it’s opened up a new way to stay motivated be that as an athlete or a creator. It is remarkable though, 83% of my audience are not subscribed😟

I don't get CZcams Algorithms 🙈 Took me ages to get to even 50 subs but eventually it starts to get on a roll. Just keep making great content 👌👍

Sorry Stu, just realised I hadn’t replied to your comment. I just thought it was worth letting people know where I am, and speak openly about the channel and how it’s doing😊

Thank you for making that video, your videos always excite us and we always love watching them, keep up the good work.
We can see you are so passionate about this and your channel is great, don't put too much pressure on it, you have already built a great group of people and its only going to grow 💪💪

Thanks Both, I just thought I’d reached a point where I wondered why the channel had stalled in terms of subscriber growth and so decided to make that piece to camera, when you stop growing you start to wonder if you’re on the right track, appreciate your continued support as always😊

I always forget the like and subscribe and honestly would do my own head in if i constantly said it. You've seen my videos, I've all on remembering where i am! I watch a lot of content on the tv and its not the easiest to engage, great to watch on but a faff to comment and sometimes liking a video can knock the whole video off. i think its the same for others which is why i know my magnetic smile and almost comedy hasnt even got me over 100 yet lol. I do it because i enjoy it and value the feedback, but mostly because if one person sees one of my videos and it inspires them to get off the sofa, thats a good day for me. Keep up the great content pal. Ps. Id deffo opt for dji or insta360 over gopro 😂😂

I’m with you on the l & s, I just feel uncomfortable asking, hence you’ll hardly ever see me say it, just usually “thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video” in the end screen. But this is why I used that title, maybe I’m doing something wrong. As creators, I think we’d all like to see that people like the content as it provides motivation to keep creating, let’s face it, it’s time consuming but there is a bigger picture too, which is inspiring people to get out there and exercise/compete/spend time outdoors😊

First time commenting. I watch your vids along with other running CZcams videos, mostly parkrun ones so I can get an idea of what they’re like (pr tourist). Nearly all I subscribe to encourage viewers to ‘like and subscribe’ and to be honest, I forget to do it if the person doesn’t say it! So as a watcher I think you should start encouraging viewers to subscribe 👍

Firstly Jennifer, thank you for your support, I truly appreciate it😊. I just think I felt uncomfortable asking viewers to like, comment and subscribe but now I’ve gone and set the 1000 sub target by July 31st, I’m going to have to do something😂

Hi Andy just recently subbed as I got back into parkrun in the last few weeks. I got my main YT channel up to partner level late last year after about 18 months (@ropeforacue) so I think 1k by July might be a big ask, maybe 500 by then as that would unlock some additional features.
I don't think there is a quick fix but something that I found that seems to work for bringing in new viewers and converting them to subscribers is creating shorts. I hate making them honestly but it seemed to work for me but perhaps depends on the subject of the channel as I see that you are making shorts regularly, more than I was.
The other thing that I found works but like you I hate doing it is asking people to subscribe. But its all about when you ask. Avoid asking in the intro and don't leave it to the outro. Try to find the part of your video which most reflects the title and thumbnail (the reason someone will have clicked play) and ask just before that bit.

Thanks for subscribing and thanks also for your advice, I’ll take it on board. On the shorts, I haven’t done that many (maybe 9-10) but I thought I read somewhere that they wouldn’t help your long form engagement and channel growth. Having said that I did a short last year about my Mizuno Wave Rider 26s and it keeps getting views every day which surprised me. On the 1000 target, I thought what the heck😂And last year I ran the Manchester 10K for MacMillan aiming to raise £250 and ended up at £1220 so maybe I was thinking about that, worth a try😊On the sub requests it’s clear I need to do something different and your advice about timing is helpful, thanks😀I’ll check out your channel too☺️

@@AndyCliffMTB Yeah I found that shorts brings in a lot of viewers but its the long form that converts them to subs. I forgot the other thing that worked for me... The community page... doing regular posts, especially image based stuff, polls especially, gets a lot of attention and there is something about how YT positions the subscribe button on posts makes people click on it if their interest is piqued.
Good luck on the youtube grind!
