  • @cakeproSherri
    @cakeproSherri Před 7 lety +3

    Hi Veena! Thank you for saving my sanity and my cake! I use tylose from CAI and it seems to have a much stronger gelling effect than the tylose you used in your video so I ended up starting with 1/3 c boiling water and adding a couple more teaspoons to get to a spreadable consistency. I baked my lace and it worked perfectly but my lace did not have the pliability and stretch that yours does. Do you know what ingredient I could add (non-vegetarian ingredients are okay) that would give it some pliability? My leftover lace because crunchy and super brittle after a few hours, and I'd love to be able to pre-make pieces and store them. Thank you for sharing your talent and expertise!

    • @Veena_Azmanov
      @Veena_Azmanov  Před 7 lety +4

      Sherri, Usually the quantity of the water depends on the consistency more than the recipe. If you can get a good spreading consistency is all that matters. Having said that the more water you add the weaker the lace - cause the stretch has less elastic. I hope I'm making sense to you. I would not recommend adding any more ingredients but rather trying to work with the exact formula I have given you just once. I think even with your strong tylose it should the same. I have used many different brand with this over the last 5 years and stuck to this formula almost all the time ..

    • @ll-te9yj
      @ll-te9yj Před 7 lety +1

      I had the same problem. I used CAI brand and it was very crumbly. It did make an interesting paper consistency lace which i used on wedding cake cookies. It was pretty, but NOT flexible.

      NO the microwave won't work. bu you can air dry it. In the video I showed you the Pink lace that was air dried.. Just left it on the table over night. Depending on the humidity in the weather may take a couple of hours

      Hi San - Sounds like you live in a dry weather. You need to keep it less in the mold. Once dried - remove and place between parchment paper to protect it from drying. It is sugar so it has the tendency to dry when left out.
