I don't normally add comments, but I found this so useful! Anyone with a PS Pro that sounds like a Jet taking off should follow this. It was getting to the point where I couldn't hear the dialog in games due to the noise the PS was making. Now it just quietly purrs, even playing COD! Thank you so much for this simple, clear, easy to follow video!

I get so frustrated when a problem arises and you try to find an actual solution but most don’t offer any help. After days of getting the over heated message I figured maybe it was the fan. Cleaned it out and still had the same problem. Then I found your video. Not only were your steps easy to follow you saved my system. My hat is off to you for a fantastic instructional video. Im currently getting the same issue with my ps4 original. I wasn't getting this issue at all until yesterday when i played battlefield v after like a month maybe, and i got the message. I can still play Fifa 20 without any issues. However games like battlefield just heats up the console within 10-15 minutes. Do you think this will sort out the issue for me? Thank you for this video!!!! My ps4 suddenly started playing up a few days ago and sounded like it was preparing to take off. The instructions you gave on your video made it look like it was something I could do myself so I ordered what I needed and went for it. I have 3 construction sites that started nearby in the past year and get construction dust everywhere so thought that was the most likely issue, and it was everywhere inside the console. After following your instructions I have a smooth running machine that I can barely even hear, in fact I'd go as far to say that with replacing the thermal paste and pads to high qualiy ones has made the machine even quieter than when I first got it. You've helped me save a fortune and weeks waiting for it to be done by someone else, so Thank You once again!!!

Thank you so much for this video! I got my PS4 refurbished, and it's had problems basically since I got it. After a while I couldn't play certain games without the fan going crazy, and Dead by Daylight would cause it to give me a warning and immediately shut off. I followed your instructions, and despite some issues with two screws holding in the power supply, it's been a massive success. Also found a few prongs that were bent and straightened them out, so I hope that helped. My PS4 used to sound like a jet engine, but I just booted it up and was confused because it made no sound at all. Dead by Daylight is even running without issue.

Figured I'd give another comment, I'm about to do another deep clean and thermal paste swap and use this video everytime to do it and have absolutely no issues and always works. Just be patient and take your time. Very first time I did it I used the AS5 and then the second time after a year I used Kryonaut with thermal grizzly thermal pads that I swapped in place of the stock ones and put some over the memory chips as well. Made a huge difference over the AS5 paste. Now I'm gonna use the new MX-5 Paste. Depending on how dusty each person's environment is, I suggest doing this every year or 2 years at max to keep it running cool.

Had my pro from end 2016, from day 1 it was very noisy, but did had any issues, did the basic cleaning just pop the top cover. But the past months it starting to thermal shutdown, finally had the courage to open it, the heatsink and fan was not that dirty, but the original thermal past only covered a small area on cpu. I cleaned that and apply thermal past again and maked sure the pressure was good. Now my ps4 pro is quieter as it was on day 1. Thanks to your vid my operation was successful.

Really good video, I have a pretty new PS4 Pro so the inside was slightly different but still easy to follow with the video.
The fan and heat sink were clean but the thermal paste did seem to be a lot less and spotty. Cleaned and reapplied per your video. It's been a day of gaming and it's been pretty quiet and hasn't shut off due to overheating... so fingers crossed that it was the thermal paste

Hello! I hope you read this. I opened my CUH 1216B. But I only cleaned the fan. It was really quiet afterwards. Can I just remove the power supply and clean the fan and power supply without didisassemble? Soo just power supply and fan cleaning. Using compressed air, some microfiber cloth, brush, toothbrush and all other things to clean it?

This Pro's internals were a little different than mine but, still managed to get the paste replaced thanks to your vid! It had never been opened up and WOW... PlayStation did a TERRIBLE job of applying it! It was all over the place. A good 25-35% of it wasn't even on the chip... just mooshed off to the side... And my heatsink was surprisingly dust/lint free lol *UPDATE:* PS4 Pro booted, ran great and then shut off after 10mins off use. No warning, nothing. Now refuses to boot... 😔

Pouring Isopropyl Alcohol from the open capped bottle onto machine is an unnecessary risk. It can be poured directly onto the material (napkin, cloth, whatever) you're using to clean the thermal paste off to better control where the alcohol will go and how much will be used.

Changed my thermal paste and cleaned out the heatsink but it still gets loud while I play cod warzone do you think I should change the pads ive reopened it and put everything back correctly and another thing I noticed is that one of the screw does not fully go inside for the ‘X’ shaped clamp it is kind of elevated when compared to the other screws on the clamp is it normal not that the clamp is loose or something

Hopefully its not completely broken... Could you tell me can i clean out the heat sink without seperating it from the cpu and replacing the thermal paste, in my old ps4 all i had to do was remove the power supply to access the heat sink and blast air thru it.
