    thanks for making this video. you helped me with sorting out how much I can fit in mine for a move from Alberta to Ontario.....was going to load it up to about 1500...but will keep it to 1200-1300 to be safe.

    For this reason I bought a 2022 RAM 2500 4x4 Hemi Crew cab which came with air ride. Payload is 3100 pounds and I never tow more than a single-axle utility trailer. We have taken it on several road trips and it DOES ride like a HD truck but it is very comfortable. 65 PSI in all 4 tires.

    You hit the nail on the head - it’s all about marketing - most trucks aren’t hauling anything but kids and wife. I haul more with my Chrysler 300 (1000lb max) than my neighbour does with his ram 1500 LOL - bro this was another awesome video man - thank you - I always learn from my bro Alex. Cheers

      Thank you sir! ya the truck segment has really grown in the last 10 years. the big SUV's are kinda dead in the water and the crew cab trucks are the modern family hauler it seems.
      And in reality if you are going to be hauling day in day out your best bet is to buy a 2500. So it makes sense that the 1500 line ups are looking and feeling more and more like passenger vehicles rather then stiff work trucks

    it makes sense why they use coils when you see the data that says 1 of 6 trucks is used for actual work

    I have a 2017 1500. And they sell HD rear coil springs if you want to reduce your rear squat and handle more capacity. But ride quality will obviously suffer. I personally used rear airbags and that seems like a decent compromise for levelling the load for people who only occasionally tow.
    But you can put rear upgraded coil springs in virtually every ram 1500 for very little money.
    Great work on the videos man I’m super pumped to see your eaton trutrack installed. I’m looking at getting one myself I can’t wait to see how it handles in your truck

      I can't wait either. But the shipping has now been delayed twice. summit racing seems to be a reputable site so I'm hoping they ship my diff soon. Last time I checked they said Nov 30th. but hopefully I can get it installed soon after. Before the big snow comes lol
      My co-worker uses rear air bags. he said he picked them up for like 200 bucks and they make a world of difference. he says with like 15 psi his 30 foot trailer sits perfectly level. no sag at all. Probably going to buy a pair and test them out!

      @@TheGettyAdventures I recently came upon your vids. Love them. I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with Airbags. I highly recommend. Along with leveling kit, I gain few inches in clearance as well.

      I worked for a farmer, he had a 2017 Rebel with the factory airbags. I have a 2009 with the regular coils, his definitely rides better than mine. Big complaints he had, was that if you put enough weight in the back, it would shut the air-system down and display error, and in extreme cold they would freeze up. I put airlift 5000 lb. airbags on mine with the compressor, I felt like that was a good compromise. $800, but it was worth it to me. I had a leveling kit in the front, and it would keep the back end level with the front until I had a little more than 3000 lbs. in the back. I pull a 5th wheel with it, it will hold 70 down the interstate pretty easily, I haven’t tried it over a pass yet.

    I've heard the other reason for the coils, is to keep the rear axle from rolling under throttle. This keeps the pinion angle exact under all conditions, reducing driveline shutter. This more has to do with the control arms than the coils themselves.

      My HEMI 2500 has an extra strut above the pumpkin for that, and that's what they claim it's there for.

    For what it’s worth, I installed TufTruck TTC-1223 50% increase springs in my ‘17 Ram 1500. The ride is a little bit stiffer unloaded but the capability of the truck to support a load is dramatic. I have never regretted that decision and wish I would have put them on the day I bought the truck. I got them through SD Truck Springs and they were under $200 I believe.

    Dodge/Ram has a feature on their website where you can enter in your VIN and it will give you the exact specs on your specific vehicle. Payload, towing, etc. It's pretty sweet!

    The max payload capacity on my 2017 ram 1500 quad cab 4 x 4 Express model is 1542 LB. The Ram power wagon Payload numbers are lower than that. When you’re buying a ram for towing I suggest just purchasing the tradesmen 3500 the payload numbers are very impressive if you’re just looking for a truck for towing.

    • @TheGettyAdventures
      @TheGettyAdventures  Před 2 lety

      I'm surprised the power wagon numbers are so low. but then again I heard the reason that they don't put a cummins in a power wagon is because it would be too heavy for truck. crazy. and I agree can't go wrong with a 3500 for work

    • @proudamerican5518
      @proudamerican5518 Před 2 lety +1

      They made the suspension on the PW super soft for articulation and flex. It crushes payload and GVWR but helps it achieve what it was built for.

  • @JohnSmith-ev1sm
    @JohnSmith-ev1sm Před 2 lety +1

    Fuel does not come off of payload; your payload number includes full tank of gas, and all other fluids like washer fluid etc. But yes, passengers and cargo come off payload. How did you find your payload, with the door sticker?

    • @TheGettyAdventures
      @TheGettyAdventures  Před 2 lety

      fair enough I was under the impression fuel was not included but it makes sense when you say all fluids are accounted for. I just looked up my year of truck and max payload. There should be a link for Chrysler specs. then you just find your configuration of truck. tells you your max payload max towing capacity and axle capacities. all kinds of good specs.

    • @JohnSmith-ev1sm
      @JohnSmith-ev1sm Před 2 lety

      @@TheGettyAdventures I just asked about how you determined your payload because FCA has been found to have errors on the their website with the 5th gen trucks. Apparently the door jamb sticker is "king", if you didn't confirm your actual payload with the door sticker I'd be curious to know what the door sticker says? My brother only has about 970 pounds in his 4th gen Eco Diesel according to the sticker. That might be why your truck is having trouble with the weight, you might not have 1500 pounds payload. I know for the 5th gens Ram has managed to give a few hundred pounds more on average. But yeah I agree with you, these trucks are comfortable family cruisers that can also tow, but they are not replacements for work trucks.

    • @stevecrosby7803
      @stevecrosby7803 Před 2 lety +1

    I have a 2019 1500 Ram Laramie 5.7 Hemi four-door four-wheel drive 5. Half ft bed it is a Max Tow for that configuration payload is 1860 lb Towing is 11320 unloaded curb weight for just the truck is around 5,000 lb give or take gross curve weight is 7100 gross overall weight is 17000 lb truck and trailer in this configuration there is only two trucks above mine they were both e torque I have the biggest straight Hemi 5.7 1500 configure truck with my configuration for 2019 over the weekend 12 bag 50 lb each of cow food it weighed 600 pounds and it only dropped the suspension an inch and 3/4 the sticker on the inside of the driver door will tell you what your payload and towing is you need to know the configuration single cab extended cab four-door four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive the size of the bed five and a half foot six and half foot seven and a half foot bed the sticker will also tell you what gear ratio is your rear end that matters most of the 1500 that seeing only had a payload of around 1,000 lb I don't think his truck was rated for 1500 pounds payload

    we put 1500 pounds of logs on a little nissan frontier and squated less than this. ram is always a shitty disapointment.

    • @TheGettyAdventures
      @TheGettyAdventures  Před 2 lety

      lol I also put like 1500 lbs of logs in a Honda ridgeline. pretty sure it didn't squat as much. But I imagine the ram has more suspension travel available which is why is squatted more.
      But in all honesty I would feel much better with 1500 lbs in my ram then the Honda
