    we tow a 6000lb travel trailer several thousand miles a year with our 1500, hemi, 8 speed, crewcab 4wd. no air bags, just the regular coils in the back. basically the same setup as you show except we use 1 sway controller
    there is no left and right to the sway controllers, they are identical.
    tows very well

    I used to crank those sway bars down hard. My trailer liked to sway like a mofo. I ditched that style of WDH and went with a Andersen. Worlds better, extremely easy to hook and unhook, about 50% lighter. Good luck with your trip! Be safe!

    My step dad has his air bags connected together with one air line and he found that the air would compress from one bag to the other as he went around corners.

    • @bwcdesign
      @bwcdesign Před měsícem +1

      yup... I was 'getting clever' and combined both lines into one AND installed the valve behind the gas cap door for weather protection (we're in Tahoe) and the truck developed a snap oversteer when pushing hard in corners. It would appear the air is transferring from the outside compressed bag to the inside bag and creates unwanted body roll. Dough! don't be that guy.

    Great video. 2 things I would suggest. FIrst off upgrade your hitch again to a friction style sway hitch (Reese straight-line, equalizer E4, etc.) . It will obviously perform the same way as your current setup, but its just less junk to have to deal with. The weight distr. bars do both tasks at the same time instead of having to add those extra friction sway bars. There is nothing wrong with them really, but they can be trouble when trying to turn sharp.
    Second suggestion, the hellwig upgraded rear sway bar seems, at least for me, to help with some of the feels going down the road, especially when towing somewhat heavy. I'm towing about 8700 lbs same truck as your except I am leveled in the front and have teh 3.92's.
    Keep up the good work and hope the move goes smoothly.

    2014 ram limited, mine has the factory air bags I love it it tows like a dream.
    It is really nice you can drop it to the ground line up the trailer then raise the whole truck up and pick up the trailer

    I would not use a jack on the bars. If that were to slip and swing out it’s going to hurt! Just put a big block under the tounge jack, raise your tounge jack while coupled until bars are able to be installed by hand, and lower the jack.

    Good set up. I had the same set up on my camper. The 5.9 Cummins had no problem pulling and with the sway pars kept me in my lane in high winds.

      I use a rigid one since I am in the rigid line but for $20 it's awesome cordless pump plus can set to psi you want and let it rip. Keep it in the back seat and has a long cig plug in case battery is dead

    You need more tilt on the hitch head, the bars should be level with the a frame of the trailer and a minimum of 5 links hanging, hook on the 6 link to allow enough slack for turning

    Random question, any idea why my Ram 1500 starts to squat when I put like 300 lbs of weight she's start to squat right away? The rear shocks are fairly new around a year old but I never tow anything.

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  Před 2 lety +1

      They are coil springs and spring pretty soft for a smooth ride but putting airbags will solve that
