    This totally helped us out on a trip from Houston to Chicago.. Stopped in the O'Reilly in Sikeston MO (shout out to Cory working there) and followed this video and was back in business, not sticky 😂

    Is there an amount of pressure that needs to go in the compressor?

    Do you need to purge the can line first before you get started? I have seen others tip the can upside down and release a bit of coolant to purge the line then snap it on to low side with can right side up and turn 45 degrees back and forth while filling.

      That is a great question and I don’t see any issue with doing so. I had not thought of doing that previously but I could see why it would be necessary - perhaps to ensure no outside air is being introduced into the system. That’s going the extra mile and I like it.

      Purge the flex line because there is air in the line and that destroys AC systems

    My van has one side hot air other side cold , so is because I didn't add enough ac liquid?

      Mine is same. Mechanic said when it was worked on someone got the “door” stuck and that’s why one side is hot and one cold. It would have to be taken apart to fix. This is what they told me. Sorry I don’t know name of the “door” but it was obviously part of the vent system.

      This can be a headache, for sure! I would definitely get a more thorough check of how much R134 is in your system. Start with the R134 gauge that comes with your refrigerant and ensure that you are not overfilling. If you are at a point where you can't put more in without overfilling, a mechanic will need to do this or try to borrow a gauge from a local auto parts store. Best to also check inside the car where the mechanical door is that separates your left dash from right dash where the air comes out. I checked this on the wife's van and the door was working properly. You'll find videos like that on CZcams for your particular car. Good luck and reply once you get yours figured out!

    Does the engine have to be running during this process?

    • @fightdrivewinteam5447
      @fightdrivewinteam5447  Před 3 lety

      Hi there - no, it doesn’t to do watch for the compressor to turn, or not. But it IS necessary to check for the revs going up temporarily when the signal is sent to the compressor. There is more demand on the engine because of the compressor. Good luck and hope you made great progress and have cold air again.

      @@fightdrivewinteam5447 wow, that’s some bad info. Yes, the engine absolutely needs to be running. Your system will NOT be at its appropriate pressures if the engine is not running

    You are filling the A/C system in a risky way. If liquid gas enters the compressor it could damage it. Can of 134A refrigerant should be upright position due to a short filling hose. When the vehicle is running you want to fill the A/C system with gas .

      Thank you James! I appreciate the great info and safety info. I truly don’t remember the can saying that or giving a warning, but everyone here should keep this in mind.

      Sorry to hear. After the recharge did you have ANY cold air come out while the A/C was turned on? Did you try driving to see if air was cold while the car was moving? These will be helpful to know, keep us posted!

      Also, continue to check that the A/C compressor clutch is cycling on and off. You can view my other A/C video for checking this also. Should cycle and not stay continuously on. Good luck!🍀

      Really any auto parts store. I won't say the name of any, as I'm afraid I may be blocked, but I think you have to pick up as it's a can of compressed gas, so I don't think shipping would be an option, or at least a cheap option.
      Thanks for your question and for watching!
