    I don't understand the downvotes? Something's obviously wrong with you. Maybe you couldn't follow his instructions to the instructions to recharge the AC in your mama's car, which is probably a 1975 Toyota Corolla. This guy's video is awesome. He gets right to the point, shows you what you need to do and ends the video. This this isn't one of those videos where the guy or gal making the video has to talk for an hour about how their ice cream melted on the way home from Walmart because their AC wasn't up to snuff and how the kids got upset later and the other parent in the household freaked out. They looked at it and told me they wanted almost 2000 dollars to change the evaporator filter. I do t have that type of cash. They were charging me 247 a pop to charge it. I went and got my own Freon. I just filled it and it worked. Thank you so much. You just got to the point and it was amazing quick results. Sometimes that can be dangerous. I have a rule. Phone's off if I have my hands or body in something that can badly hurt me if I get distracted.
      I was doing light globes yesterday to change the bulb. Once I was up near the 9.7 foot ceiling, the building better be on fire til I'm done.
      Same with anything electricity, like car batteries. They can blow up if you're an idiot. So BE PREPARED. Have a fire extinguisher, a gallon or two of potable water, fire/wool blanket...you name it. Take your time and DON'T get distracted!
      If you're WAY ready for ANY emergency (say if the can blows up or something, you're READY). The more safety stuff you're ready with, the less likely you'll ever use any of it.
      This is why I have at LEAST TWO tire gages and phone chargers PER CAR. One + a spare!

    Great job with the video, short & simple for anyone to follow along! I got a question; I’ve read that the air within the hose that comes along with refrigerant can contains oxygen and water vapor that can damage the ac system. With professional installations where a vacuum pump is used to drain the system of any moisture this concern is non existent. Can you maybe explain whether that little air present within the hose is capable of causing damage and maybe provide an update on the car featured in this video? Thank you in advance and sorry about the excessively long question lol.

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před 2 lety +6

      No worries about that tiny bit of air in the hose. This car's AC still works great. Have done this same process with no negative effects on many cars. Just be sure not to overfill as I mentioned and youll be fine. I also have a video on vacuuming system before. That way you can add back exact amount for car. Just use a scale 👍

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před 3 lety +1

      If you used a full can and still somewhat warm, the system may have been really low. If system was completely empty you would need to vacuum out air, but if a little in it may just be low still. Should be sticker on inside of hood that'll tell you the ounces of refrigerant used for car, usually around 2 lbs (32oz) or less

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před 3 lety +2

      You can slowly add more from another can until it gets to around 45-50 degrees, just go slow may only need 1/2 can more

    Love your videos, thanks so much!
    I’m blessed with a 2003 Toyota Corolla (original owner, always been garaged) that's NEVER needed any repairs (110,000 miles), but surely the A-C will start to get "tired."
    While many components can fail, I'm guessing it's common for a pinhole leak to occur, in which case simply re-filling the system as you demonstrate does not fix the problem, only band-aid it.
    And sure, "Judgment Day" is no doubt coming for my mighty Corolla's A-C system down here in South Georgia.
    So, can you provide a link to any "leak remedy" product that you recommend (this would be after, of course, checking for any connections that worked themselves loose, then tightening them)?
    Same question for any "system rejuvenation" products (I've been told that internal seals dry out, things get gunked up, etc., so if there's something relatively cheap that owners can do to rejuvenate their system before surrendering to a mechanic, I'm all in!).
    I'm hoping that there's a refill product containing leak-plugging stuff in it (but maybe I'm just wildly fantasizing). I could swear I've heard of someone remedying their failed A-C system this way.
    Thanks again!

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před 4 lety +4

      You're welcome. Yes when a car gets older it usually starts slowly leaking out refrigerant from either worn O rings on all the various connections or from compressor itself. You can try adding some AC stop leak refrigerant when recharging if you have a very slow leak.
      Here's a link to product Ive had luck with.
      amzn.to/2DpUVOQ
      And here's a link to a video I made demonstrating the proper way to use it.

    One mistake You didn’t purge the house to get air out of the hose. That air in the hose has moisture so you put all that air into yr system. You barely squeeze the trigger until a little refrigerant is coming out then you connect it to the fitting
