I have heat coming from all vents and the air is off. Where should I start first?
What if it is intermittent sometimes it's cold and another time it's not cool enough I ran a trouble test on the ac system and did not get a trouble code I saw the test on youtube where are you hold the rear defroster and the recirculating button then switch the car the number two position
How do I fix it
P
Thanks for sharing, it was quite informative. How much should that cost in 2023 approximately?
Can you please make another video and post on how to fix each of the possible problems and the approximate cost to fix each one. Thanks
On a 12 hour drive back from NC yesterday in my 2005 Honda Odyssey (best car I ever owned), it started blowing hot air on left and cool/cold air on the right. I'll trouble shoot later to start narrowing down the fix. A GREAT VIDEO at explaining the system operation !!!
Thank you, sir! You saved my remaining hairline 🤣You were absolutely correct, it was low on freon. My brother lend me his a/c gauge and purchased a small bottle of freon. Charged the a/c system in small quantities while monitoring the vents with a temperature gauge. I got it down to 42 degrees vs 75 degrees. The wife was starting to worry about her Ody not keeping her cool while driving in the desert heat that reaches 122 degrees 🥵Thanks for the video! 👍 Happy wife = Happy life 🤙

@@BigDog50001; Hot air on drivers side and cold on passenger side. What can cause that on a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, please? Dual air
Thanks for that thorough information, it was very helpful and understandable to a woman who knows very little about the AC issues, this is the problem I’m having and I’m gonna go to Autozone and get some and let my son fix it ASAP. Thank you 😊
Thank you Big Dog! I bow down to the Honda Accord DIY Guru. Keep it up, this is the best DIY video I have seen in 36 years.
Wow, thanks!
I've been watching CZcams for 36 years too and this was a good one
@@codyC423😂😂😂
Absolutely fantastic. My 2019 civic is blowing warm on left and cool on the right..Thanks
Thanks Big Dog, this is just what I needed.
I like your simple diagram, it was very simple for me to understand the possible causes to my issue. Thank You.
Glad it helped, thank you for the comment!
This video helped me to understand next things to do since my 2006 odyssey vent doors are working fine. Oreilly guy helped me to fill more Refringent
Best explanation about the problem. Thank you BigDog50001.
Thanks for the comment!
I realize some of you may not be using your A/C right now due to weather but we still use it here in AZ!
I'm in AZ. I was wondering since it's been so hot if that was a possible factor of my A/C acting up since my car is only 2yrs old. I have a 2017 Honda civic and its pretty upsetting that its happening so soon. Nevertheless, your video was some well needed clarification!
Do you ever see this problem because it's so darn hot the right side is boiling off all the refrigerant? i.e. it's 110F out and you see 60F coming out of the right and 90F out of the left and the heat load is too much for the A/C to cool off the car enough for the two to equalze? Meaning that neither of the problems you described is the issue. In my experience driving through hotter climates it seems like no small car has an AC strong enough to really cool things down in a reasonable amount of time.
Nice video…..I was having this exact problem on my 2008 Honda CRV. In fact, the left side was about 23° warmer. I checked the Freon and it was right at 40 psi, but right now the ambient temperature is 110 in Vegas. I took the PSI up to 50 and now both sides blow nice and cold! I should’ve done this about two or three years ago when i noticed the driver side was warmer! Thanks again
Very descriptive man thank you very much I'm going to go try coolant right now regardless if adding the coolant works I know exactly what I have to do so I appreciate you so much.
Thanks i had the same problem it was low on freeon now its working fine!
Thank you. Why can't all car issue videos be this concise?
I appreciate the comment, thanks!
Thank you, I was able to recharge the ac and that worked.
Thanks for the clear and precise info, Dave. 👍
Thank you!
Finally someone who fully understands the problem and the system and explains it clearly. I've always wondered why the left was warmer than the right. I have the climate control with dual doors. My issue ended up being low refrigerant.
Did you notice your compressor kicking on and off frequently, every 5 seconds for 14 seconds or so?
@@SetAside777 no, just lack of cooling
Mine is doing this exact thing....ice cold on passenger side n just cold on driver side....mecanic only checked my ps vent...then i realized it was only my ds that felt warm...im gonna get it charged now
Did you get cold air when you put it on Lo though? And when it's any number it will be max hot.
The heat only blows on the passenger side…but cool on the driver side…vice versa for the a/c…any idea why
This one video assured me that I must subscribe.....great job with the video...informative, simple and yet effective (liked, comment, subscribed and shared) 👍🏿

That was an excellent video which explains the issue. I think I need to recharge my 2006 Honda Accord, which has never had any refrigerant added to the system! Thank you and best wishes.

Having this problem on my 2013 Odyssey. Air mix door motor is working just fine. On a humid 84 degree day, I’m getting 55 degree air out of the right side vents and 78 degree air out of the left. I’m also getting all the warm air out of the front windshield defog.
After watching video checked Freon Level on my 2013 Honda Odessey which was low . Charged it up Problem Solved .

Yo big dog, I started having this problem with my 2020 civic ex. No duo climate control. I will check my Freon tomorrow and I hope that is the problem. By the way, super great video. Keep it up 🎉

@@BigDog50001on my Honda Odyssey 06 the driver side and the second vent blow cold air and the last 2 warm Air
Good info! Thank you.
👍
I was convinced it was something in the duct work, but it was just low on freon! Added a can, and it was magic. :)
You probably have a leak and the problem will return.
Thank you your clear video ! I just hit the the button
👍
Clear and precise info, thank you!
Could this happen to an Volvo xc90 2007? I have the same simtoms.
Excellent even I can understand it, 😄 thanks
My 2014 jeep JKU is doing this exact thing. 44/57 on my passenger vents and 87 on my driver vents. Blend door and position selectors are working like normal.
Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for the clear explanation. My driver side is blowing warmer but eventually it will get cool after driving for a bit, I am going to add refrigerant and see where im at.
Make sure to refill with a manifold gauge set so you dont overfill and blow up your A/C system.
Thank you Big Dog. Good job. I appreciate your videos.

Thanks good video
I appreciate the comment, thank you!
Yea. After this we just kept on adding and it worked. Sometimes you just have to have the mindset to freeze yourself out lol
Gonna try this tomorrow, should’ve tried it first. I replaced the blend door actuator thinking it was that since it was making noise but it wasn’t, so hopefully recharging the refrigerant solves the problem.
👍
Thanks for the info. My 2018 accord is blowing warm on the left side. It has enough refrigerant. I'm trying to see what component do I need to replace to fix the AC from blowing warm on the left side back to blowing cold. What do I need to replace?
Great video. In my E bent throwing some air even AC and fans are in off position. What can be the fix?! Ty
I just replaced the blend door actuator on the driver side. Still blowing hot on driver side. I will try recharging the Freon. I will give update in a bit.
UPDATE: Yep, I just needed to recharge the Freon. Actuator didn't really need a replacement just needs to be regreased. Keeping the actuator as a spare.
Thankyou!!
Thanks for the comment!
The g automotive 2004 Honda Accord ac not working, said the condenser and the receiver drier getting clogged is another cause. I hope the big dog does a video on that for those that still have a problem with the ac.
am having this issue in my azera 2014 .. do I have to change the evaporator! or refill refrigerant.?
Thanks Man! I had this issue with our 05 Accord Hybrid. I went through the factory auto-check procedure through the HVAC interface per the factory manual, and it said all was good. I took the car to Honda, told them that I thought it was low refrigerant. They verified that diagnosis, and evacuated and charged the system, after replacing the fill Schrader valves under warranty. The Schrader valves where a problem that caused the refrigerant to leak out after 15 years.. Honda still stood behind it.. What you said in this video was right on..
The valves are a common leak point. Thanks for the comment!
Hey, what does the Schrader valve mean? Did you imply the expansion valve here?
Can't thank you enough for the easy to understand explanation! :)
Glad it helped, thanks for the comment!
Okay, so I really appreciate this video. I'm having a problem with my vents. In my 2005 Honda Pilot, facing the dash (like you do) the far left (driver's side left) vent has cool air, while nothing is coming out of the other dash vents. Is this low refrigerant, or a defective part somewhere? Thank you, Big Dog50001 Automotive.
Thanks for the huge help! 2017 Civic driver side is warm so it's probably due to a leak, and hopefully it's the AC Compressor leaking which would be covered by Honda's TSB extended warranty.
did you find the reason?
did you find the reason ?
Hey i have a question, i have the same problem as you but after a year of not using the A/C all of my freon leaked out so i’m thinking theres a freon leak on the driver side making the passenger side blow colder than the driver side, what are your thoughts
Thanks for the information. I took the van to dealership. They replaced the motors and adjusted the freon level. The driver's side still blows warmer at idle but cooler when can is is motion. What could be the cause? The condenser fan? Thanks.
AWESOM VID.
Thanks!
Big Dog great video!( Could you do a video Accord 2011 4 cylinder )on cleaning the Throttle body and the Maff sensor?
Thanks! I'll see what I can do.
Having this issue now in my 2012 Honda accord se. I'm getting the refrigerant replaced now, crossing my fingers.
I fix my compressor in a 2010 Honda Accord it cooling but not cold. It's Gass up also
Good videos! Can you please make a video of replacing the front (left and right) wheel speed sensor for 2012 honda accord 4cyl sedan. Thanks.
I will see what I can do, thanks for the comment!
I enjoy the white board of knowledge. It's easy to visualize the system when it's right there in front of you. :)
Appreciate the comment Wyatt!
Appreciate it! My AC router has actually been draining my battery and what finally tipped us off to it was a combination of a lovely Polish man posting a video about it, and my AC pulling this exact stunt and blowing me in the face with heat while my passenger gets all the cold. Now I just have to figure out which one it is…
Did you ever find out what was the issue my battery draining too
@@Mike321795 check your door actuators!!! This Honda CRV model will turn into a 2 ton door stop/paper weight if your door and or window actuators blow and won’t put power through to any of the above!
Also check your AC seals!! I have not done this but my Honda turned into a paper weight and we had to smash in the left window, which also took 3-4 tries with actual tools!!
Excellent.... I was wondering why iys happening to my honda
Thanks for the comment!
Early 10th Honda Civic models have a 10 year extended warranty for the condenser because it was poorly designed.
I'm having the same problem shown on the video so I'm taking my car to the dealership this weekend to have the condenser checked out.
👍
Did the Condenser fix the problem?
@@guitarhero9592 The dealership said the compressor was leaking and the condenser was fine. The dealership wanted to charge me around $1200 to replace the compressor and they would give me a free condenser with that (I just think they were trying to scam me). I added some refrigerant and my AC has been running fine since.
@@njo6480 Check Top Class Actions search Honda class action alleges civic a/c defect page 87 Anthony Alvaro post dated May 19 2023 states Honda now covers compressor with campaign and service bulletin. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.
@@njo6480 the compressor is now covered for 10 years just like the condenser. But it’s not listed as a recall. If it’s been awhile, check back with them. My dealer put me on hold awhile then came back and confirmed. My Civic is a 2016 good luck
High pressure inside my system (i.e. freon excess) caused my problem. I had some drained, all good now
👍
I have an 05 Honda Accord where if the AC is on, it will only blow cold out of the right side. However if the heat is on oh, it will only blow the heat from the right side. It just seems to blow whatever temperature is coming through the vents out the left. I.e. if it's cold outside I'm getting cold air on the left, if it's hot outside I'm getting hot air coming through the left. Would you say that it could be the blower door for the left side?
So mine had all blend doors replaced and freon fully charged however mine still blows warmer on driver side and cold on pass side. Could the expansion valve be half way stuck or not functioning properly and be causing this issue. Thanks
Hi thanks for the video.
I have the same problem but on the opposite sides. I hope is the same problem
👍
Very helpful but next time add where to get coolant if I can add coolant myself or what here?
excellent
Thanks!
Would these scenarios happen even when the ac/heat turn off?
my 2008 accord i usually set temperature at 20 c which is not too cold nor hot for me ,now i notice even if i bump up the temperature to 25 i still get the cold air at 26 i feel the warm air , ur explanation doesn't seem to be fitting in my problem, am i correct:? any expert opinion of urs pls
This has been an issue with my 2012 Nissan Sentra… just took it to the shop 2 weeks ago & they added Freon .. it was working great for first week.. now week 3 and it’s doing the same thing.. I know just matter of time until they all blow hot..that what happened last time
Actuator door works and I have fresh refrigerant in my dual setting pilot. Still having the problem of cold air on passenger side and less cold on driver side.
I have a Honda HRV 2016 and the left vent does not blow out any air at all. Just had the filters changed too and issue was not present before. Could it be an issue with the installation or a sensor issue. Theh want to charge me $125 just for diagnostics even though the issue was not present before I took it for the filter change.
On our 2006 Accord with dual (left/right) blend door motors, the left one is definitely not good.
If we ONLY use the standard cold/hot control (that operates both L & R) it works OK. But if anyone operates the L & R independently, the left motor loses its mind completely, sending nothing but hot air.
The temp “fix” is to move the common L/R hot-cold buttons all the way HOT, back to all the way COLD, do that a few times and the left motor eventually syncs back.
It’s a project for another day.
so what if it was on the right passenger side and switched to the left driver side after I swapped a new cabin filter (2012 Acura TL). i pulled the motors thinking one was bad but theyre not. Also, the cabin filter was full of tree leaves and sticks so i was wondering 1. HTF and 2. could a stick be stuck in there somewhere holding the blend door open on one side ? 3. Why would the heat swap from the right to the left just changing the cabin filter?
Mine read low on freon. I added to it. I also changed the blend door actuator. It's still doing blowing hot air on the driver side. Bummed out.
