    Hi their
    What if one of the vent is blowing cold air and the other is blowing hot,
    and yes I have checked the bender actuator and seems fine on driver side.
    It movies up and down when i differ the temperature??
    and the other passenger side only moves when modes are selected correct.
    so my bender actuator on driver side is still working and moving but no cold air??, but when i move up in temp it gets hotter .
    What do you think the issue is ??
    looking forward to your answer 👌

    This has happened to me twice before, the problem was in fact the actuator. First it got locked up, then stopped working. Both times it was an easy fix. Thank you.

    Thank you for the video. On my 2005 Jeep grand cherokee, it blows cold on the driver side but not on the passenger side and not in the back. My mechanic checked those motor actuators and find them to work properly. He then charged the AC with freon and diagnosed it. Still blows cold only on driver side. One think we noticed is there’s two hoses connected to the compressor. One is suppose to be hot and the other cold. The one which is suppose to be cold - is not cold at all and the compressor keeps engaging on & off every few seconds. What do you suggest to check next?

      Hi Baahubali - it's pretty similar to this video. Unscrew and unclip the 2 plastic covers under the driver's wheel. Remove the plug for the sunroof control, if you have a sunroof. Use a flashlight to spot the servo. It will probably have a green plug like mine and the plug in the video. Unscrew the 3 screws... which is hard to do.
      After removal, flip the plastic switch with your finger and check the air conditioning. Flip it other way to figure out cold vs. hot.
      If that works, order a new servo of eBay or Amazon. Good luck!

I went the auto part to get the info to fix this problem. They told me that could be the blend door actuator not working. I've checked the main actuator below the dash and it does not rotate at all. I've bought the new actuator and put it in but it also does not rotate as well. Is anything else that could be wrong?

    You probably could have just unplugged it and plugged it back in and saved yourself a lot of hassle but hey you gained experience so it's all good. For some reason these servo motors get out of sync, my wife came home from work after working all day in a sweat shop and had to drive 50 miles home in 90 degree weather with no AC. The first time it happened it was only on the passenger side and all I did to correct it was turn the heat all the way up to HI and back down to AC LO and the servo motor synced in and the AC started working. Tonight both were both stuck on heat and I had to unplug them with the vehicle running calling for AC and they both synced right up when I plugged them back in and her AC is working again. I worked my entire career as a robotics technician and engineer, the term servo motor implies a closed loop system with position and velocity feedback to a summing network of some sort to allow for infinite position and speed control, I somehow doubt this motor is that sophisticated since from my observation the motor is either in the extreme open or closed position. It might be what's known as a stepper motor but even that would be a touch of overkill for such a simple application. I now have something to investigate and I might just add a reset button that momentarily disconnects the required signal to get the motors to reset. Good video but I think you may have gone further than you needed to, the unit most likely reset when you unplugged it.

      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 7 lety

      joel gastelum there is a vacuum stores coming from the engine bay into the AC control box under the dash and has gotten Cut off most likely. Most common place for it to happen is in the engine bay where it goes into the firewall so you can look around. Also if you run the engine you may hear the vacuum leak.

    I just went through this on a 2009 Camry 2.4L base model. AC was only blowing out of the center, right vent and was cold. Far right vent was blowing cold as well. All other left side vents were 20 degrees or more warmer.
    I recharged my ac system and all vents are now blowing cold as usual.
    I read somewhere else that Camry's do this when the refrigerant, R134A, gets low. This is true.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 7 lety

      FRANCIS RYAN PANGAN it sounds like to me the air mixture servo motor stopped working. But you want to check the basics and make sure you have coolant in the car. If there's not enough coolant in the car it' will get an air pocket in the heater core and you will not get heat out of dash .

    This is very good news. I have the same issue with my 2006 Honda Odyssey. I'm not a gearhead, so I'm not familiar with these terrible things that happen under the hood and dashboard. Thank you for the information, it'll prevent me from getting ripped off.
    Just out of curiosity, what do you think it'll run to get this issue fixed?
    Also, I've got a problem with the fan that controls the air conditioner. When I'm driving and I hit approximately 4000 RPMs, the AC starts to work. When I'm idling, it's blowing lukewarm and extremely hot air. Just yesterday while traveling into Utah the air vent on the left side was blowing hot air and the right was relatively cool.
    I guess I'm looking for an opinion on what it would cost to just get this entire mess straightened out?
    Thank you so much.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 8 lety

      Hello. I did a little research on your situation. And the most likely cause of your symptom is low refrigerant. I would start by checking the charge on it or having a check. The blend motors are a common issue with these cars. And you may have that problem too. As far as cost goes it's going to vary from where you live. Dealer price on those little motors are about 150. But you can definitely find them cheaper aftermarket. I would pay to have it diagnosed it would definitely save you money if you just put parts on it and not fix it. My guess on the cost to repair the AC would be around $300. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.

      Thank you for the help. It's not something I can afford right now, so I figure today I'm just going to access the actuator arm and disconnect the wires, push it back in the down/cool position and see if that works. If it does, I'm going to leave it be until I can stockpile some more cash to have it properly taken care of.

I refilled Freon. good to go..2005 Grand Cherokee. known to get vent door issues. best way to tell is to turn on ac and then heat and if it gets hotter on the side.in question the vents are good. freon would be low

      That one most likely has a vacuum
      Operated system so I would look for a restricted vacuum source at idle. Also look for codes in the engine to see if you have lean codes that would be a clue that you have a vacuum issue.

    What if the motor is working... I can see the arm going back and forth when turning the dial from hot to cold. Could it just be a faulty motor or does the problem exist inside the dash like a door not completely opening and closing. Air on passenger side blows ice cold but driver side blows warm air.

      Test Run it’s either a servo motor problem or the door itself has come off it’s hinge inside the dash and the last possible reason is the Insulation has come off of the doors and it’s not sealing

      Greg Springfield Yes if it’s blowing cold on one side and not on the other you have a blend air door problem. You may be able to hook a scan tool up and pull codes on the Lincoln to pinpoint exactly which one is giving you the problem.

    I had a similar case on a 2009 mercedes benz S550. The rear climate control would only blow hot on the passenger side. I tested flaps and they worked on bidirectional control. Turned out they use a solenoid valve called the Duo-valve that allows hot coolant through passageways or blocks it. It turned out the duovalave had a seized valve for the passenger side and was stuck open. Weird system. Just an FYI
