    Thank you for explaining everything! I’ve watched so many videos where they just cut the dog hair and play music in the background. We might get a cocker one day and you helped me know what I would be signing up for and gave all of the advice that I’d need. Thank you.

    This has to be one of the best, if not the best, Springer Spaniel video's I have seen. Max is my American Cocker Spaniel and I started cutting his hair when he was just 5 months old. He is now 28 months. His skirt and feet are always an issue for me. But this video was great on explaining how to do it. I do his face and neck with a 10 blade, his back with a 7 blade, and his legs and skirt with a 5/8 metal blade. I do his pads with a 10 blade. His privates are still a challenge for me but thanks to the tips on that issue in the video, I believe I will get better and better. I do a "top knot" with a 4 blade to bring out his eyes. Thanks Aunt Angie!

    Thank you so much for posting such an easy-to-follow video guide… and an extra special ‘thank you’ to your beautiful fur-baby, Barrel, for being such a super grooming model. I’m a week away from completing my Level 3 Dog Grooming Diploma and always browsing CZcams for video demonstrations - you have such a lovely, calm way of working and everything you have talked about and shown here is absolutely on point. My own fur-baby is a beautiful choc-tan English Cocker Spaniel, so a lot of what you have covered here works for her too. Thanks again x

    I cannot believe how much he looks like my dog! Tri colors are not so common. This is so helpful. I’ve been using a groomer for 3 years but we are pursuing therapy dog work and I need him to be groomed more often. I’m starting to do it myself to help with costs… thank you for this video! We have almost identical dogs ha!

      Hello Holly,
      I found your comment very interesting thank you. With this, I’m referring to you using your springer as a therapy dog.
      My Hons Degree is in person-centred counselling but many years ago I was a proud owner of a Welsh Springer Spaniel Holly.
      There seemed to be a certain something about my dog Tammy,
      and upon reflection (following the reading of your comment)). I wondered about my Tammy being a part of my therapeutic alliance with a client Holly.
      I’m afraid Tammy passed away many years ago and so it’s only a fantasy for me. It’s just so thought provoking for me thought Holly.
      I groomed Tammy myself and (even if I say so myself) wholly believe that I made a very good job. I liked the tips and tricks you freely offered thanks Holly.
      I never owned trimmers etc way back then but I do feel now use them for my own hair lol. The thought of using only a 4 for their back coat is so interesting Holly. Employing a length 4 kept their style and character.
      In fact you made pains to maintaining the Springer’s specification. Well done you Holly - and hey’, thank you very much.
      There would be so much to learning how to include my Tammy in my therapy. An interesting thought.
      Anyway, I thought I would spontaneously send you a message Holly.
      My warm regards, Dave (65yrs) 🇬🇧

    Thank you so much! We are adopting a English springer spaniel in a month and he really needs some grooming. The only thing is is that he’s a really scared dog because of his awful past. So we have to do it on our own for the first few months.

    Hi Angie, thank you so much that was really interesting to see all the ways to groom our dogs. My Springer is 8 years old and is so sweet. I have been having her groomed 3 times a year and we have really hot summers here and she loves to lay in the heat of the sun,is this normal? I worry also because she is overweight, I am 70 so l can’t walk too far with her and therefore she isn’t losing much weight, I’m also overweight and we both have arthritis which limits walking.Hope you stay well.

    Very helpful thank you. Grooming my 14 yr old Springer for the first time, I usually pay a groomer and I noticed she’s so good for them, used to be a terror for me which why I would pay a groomer.

    Angie, excellent video. How would you groom a Springer with his tail still intact? We adopted our baby from ESRA whereby he was rescued from a back yard breeder. We are very pleased with having his tail but am giving our new groomer another chance with my more educated directions following your video. Another video on a different breed you might recommend for how to cut the fur on our Winston's tail? Thanks hon.

    I’m in the process of looking for a new groomer because his previous groomer keeps giving him a “ cocker” cut. Is there a universal name for the proper cut for a “ springer” cut that I can ask the groomer if they know how to do it? Or what can I ask the groomer to be sure he gets the proper cut? Thank you!

      If it's a working dog it has to be done to avoid serious and way more painful accidents down the line.

  • @jtnawroc4
    @jtnawroc4 Před 3 lety

    Controversial?? I don't get it. I don't care at all about my dogs temporary appearance. If I find one, I cut it right out and yes it's noticeable afterwards. And I don't know how I miss it to begin with since she is with me every moment possible especially in bed. Only reason is she likes me to touch or pet her belly than her head area. She will always flop over just right so my extended arm can only reach her whole belly, less hair area of belly. The sensitive spot that puts your dog to sleep spot.

    I’m a professional groomer and this video made me cringe. The way you hold and use scissors is down right scary. First do not scrape the scissors against the skin like this woman does on the rear hocks . And do not bounce your scissors when using. This is a big no no and could hurt the dog. Especially, don’t bounce your thinning shears! Cringe-worthy. And I’m trained in both cosmetology and dog grooming.

    • @captainbirdsi3502
      @captainbirdsi3502 Před 3 lety +4

      So this lady is also a professional groomer. Your comment is clearly important and made in the dogs’ interest but she shows me one thing and you tell us she’s doing things badly wrong. I find this from nearly all the videos I watch on grooming. I’m left confused and indecisive and that can’t be good when I come to grooming my Springer. It would help if OP responded to your comment so if you guys worked it out, we the viewers, could know the right way to go.
