In this video we will go over how you can groom your Bernedoodle at home.
We will go over what tools you will need to groom your doodle at home and how to use them.
It is important to try and make each experience with your dog or puppy a good one. When drying your puppy, dry his face last. This will give his face time to dry so you do not need to keep the dryer on his face for an extended time.
When using the clippers, make sure that you shave the sanitary areas first so you do not burn your dog!!!
This groom is sped up. It took about 1 hour and 30 minuets for the full Bernedoodle groom. This is what we call the doodle puppy groom.
Please comment below if you would like a link to the tools we use.

Well, this just convinced me that I don't want to groom mine at home, and that the groomer is worth the money! 😂

Susan, after going to high school together, Tom and I were married for 44 years. Our third date was on Sept 12th1975 that’s when he asked me to marry him. We had a whirlwind three-month engagement. Tom passed away 44 years later on Sept 12 2019. So, I guess we went full circle. He’s been gone for 4 years and it’s still hard to have a thought without him in it. Our relationship is so much deeper than “Love of My Life” or “Soulmates”, many people say those words, then hate each other next week. Susan, I believe we were friends on the other side, before our births. I was born in Tennessee and he in Washington. But yet, we found each other in a little country church, in Ohio, at age 16. One of the songs I asked to be sang at our wedding was “I was Born in Love with You”. I felt from the beginning that song tells a lot of our love story. I’ve always loved him, and I always will. Time, space or death can’t change that. He’s my friend from the beginning of our two souls’ creations.
Thank you for allowing me to share.

Very helpful. Thank you! What size of guard did you use on his body? I like how it’s not too short. We like our bernedoodle a little shaggy 😍

Are you using a #10 clipper blade and also when you started to shave the back and sides their is a plastic clip attached to the blade . Is this a #4 stand off clip ?? or what size is it ??

Thank you so much! I am struggling with how I might groom my adult standard sized Bernedoodle at home as there is a shortage of groomers here. 😃

Hi… I’m not sure where you’re located. Here in California there truly is a shortage of good groomers. I am a retired groomer, and only do my own at this point. I have a standard Burnedoodle and a standard l Labradoodle, both of my girls are F1 BB… To me, this young lady went backwards on the Grooming spectrum. Old-school groomers brush and comb the dog first. Clean the bottom of the pads of the feet ,the private area, also using your powder to clear the hair from the ear canals. If you wet the dog first it’s difficult to do what we call a rough off. If the ears have wet inside them, you can’t get a hold of a hair that needs to be removed. Then you clean the ear with your cleaner. So in my opinion, she missed a couple of steps. Also when you put water on the coat prior to brushing it sets in several of those pin mats. There’s a tiny mats that get up close to the dogs legs. She handled the dog well however it just wasn’t the puppy cut that I like myself. The private area/ears/toenails are really the most important things that cannot be missed. doodles are prone to ear infections. That blow dryer she was using is called a power dryer .. very loud and strong. Some dogs hate that dryer because it’s pretty forceful and scary… Especially to a pup or smaller dog … A very important step she missed was that that dog did not have a tie around its neck that attached him to the arm of the table. Very dangerous. A tiedown helps to keep that dog on the table should you turn your back to get a tool especially a puppy that’s learning. It’s always good to have a second set of hands when you are grooming a puppy. I’m sure that wasn’t the first time that that dog has been on a table, so the dog is clean and she seem to be pretty loving. However, it’s just not the way old schools do it. I’m not trying to put the girl down. I’m glad she’s a Groomer but as I’ve had to take my standards on a couple of occasions to be groomed, I always have to go back and do some of those items that they miss. She was absolutely correct on the hot blades Most groomers have several Blades and you change them out every few minutes by testing those blades against your own arm, If you have the guard on the blade, can’t burn the dog but you can’t use a guard when you’re going around a private area. Or the pads of the feet. On Buernadoodles especially they get really tight knots in between their toes, so that’s important to get out of there as well. A lot of groomers do not want to take doodles because they are so much work. In California starting price is right at $125 each. I hope this helps you.
