Big props for telling the truth and not fibbing a bit just to sell the discs.
Let’s be real, they’re gonna sell anyways. Haha
He sold you on the wraith and grace instead lol
How would he benefit from lying to sell a disc for a player and company he isn’t sponsored by?
Love the content. Way to shoot it straight. Happy holidays man
For someone in the 350 range, the Time Lapse would probably be their reliable overstable headwind disc rather than their bomber disc.
If you throw 350 you don't need one, get something like a halo wraith.
Even then, It's hard to trust it because these turn when thrown at higher speeds.. So in the wind it will turn, it's a little misleading because I don't have the arm speed to get turn out of it... But higher winds simulate higher arms speeds with less spin... So it would turn more than it would turn with someone who can throw farther... So I would more trust an overstable Halo Wraith than the stock version of this... But the Protos, which don't turn even when thrown 450ft+.. Those I would trust as a reliable, overstable wind fighter!
Drew Gibson did a review on the stock stamp Timelapse and I commented on there saying the flight looked more like a PD2 than a Destroyer/DD3 and that was with his arm speed. He tended to agree with that assessment.
6:25 the small speech about finding discs that fit your armspeed and technique the best hit home for me. I throw some "weird" discs if you ask my weekly cardmates. I haven't seen anyone else that throws basically any of the discs I rely on HEAVILY (Gold Striker, Frost XXX, Beat up Opto Fuse, Beaten halfway to heck BT Hard Moonshine Harp, Ultrium Razeri, Premium Razeri, Fuzion Burst Trespasses) but these discs have significantly improved my scores. By so darn much.
Agreed. For the longest time I played with a Leopard, Cheetah, Gazelle and Whippet as the only 4 drivers I threw. And only a few putters and mids. Helps to limit damage, and I could get the discs up to speed much better.
Cant wait to get mine. Going to be my forehand bomber. My son flips up the DD3 and turns it too much. Hoping this will stand up for him and keeps its line.
Excellent follow-up review. Very thorough from multiple POVs and thumbs on referencing the video with Simon and Raivis Markons-Craig #subscribed
I always used to throw only wraiths but I recently to an X3 from prodigy and have been really liking it. I find it a little more stable but I can still get it to flip up and ride.
Thanks David!
Definitely want to try out a Timelapse at some point, if it’s like a destroyer and maybe a touch more overstable that’s exactly what I’m looking to put in my bag now that I’ve progressed to the point of actually being able to throw destroyer speeds. 😁
I think these need a lot more spin to fly right since there is more weight on the outer rim.
What would you put as the flight numbers on the stock timelapse? Personally i throw 450 (500 on a good day) and i have been struggling to find a comfortable distance driver that won't turn on full power (i don't want it to dump either). (For those who say halo destroyer i would rather pay less because i'm only 17 and don't earn much money)
I would say the numbers are pretty true other than the turn, I would say the turn is more like -.25 to -.5 depending on the one you get. with the flippy ones being closer to the -1 turn. So this would definitely be a solid choice! Other good options for what you are looking for would be an Enforcer or a Force!
But any distance driver that can hold up and turn very little at 450-500 power are all going to give a little dump at the end... to not get the finish at the end the pros either throw something slower, or finesse the disc a little bit to have it finish less. But any high speed driver that can hold up to that arm speed will give a little dump at the end. that's just the nature of high speed drivers!
alright, thanks for answering!
I got mine and it flips no problem , bagged it after 3 throws . I have small hands but the destroyer feels waaay bigger in my hand in my opinion !
I removed all my 12 + speeds out of my bag for this reason. My 11 speeds are Photon and Vanish. But I know guys who typically throw further than me that use their destroyers etc regularly anyway; mostly like how I use my firebirds
Those mystery boxes look great!
Could it be just a bad disc? My buddy grabbed a few of them and his all fly great for him, i dont have the arm speed so i havent tried them but maybe that disc just isnt spot on like most.
i like your vids. Much more humble than others ive seen.
Y'all need to get your disc golf buddies subscribed to this channel. I don't know how there's not more subs. This guy speaks for the The People's Arm
I’m getting the stock run specifically for a couple of reasons. I like supporting Simon and I like the plastic. But also, because my Force is a little less OS than I want. So I’m hoping this flight is what I want.
This is perfect. It’s not super beefy. It’s OS with glide
I just took my orange one out of my bag. I’m having trouble throwing it and am taking a break from it.
You never disclosed what weight you're throwing there, cause that's a huge factor also
It was a 172g! I think that's the lightest that were available on this first run of stock? not 100% sure though
Is the plastic on the stock ones super firm as well? We got just the SE ones and they're borderline too hard even at room temp,. Almost like a Trilogy X version of a Neutron/Proton blend.
Yeah, they were all pretty stiff!
@ApolloDiscGolf The weird part is that the L2 ones people got out of the GYROpalooza boxes they bought from us were like normal Neutron. [And felt way better, IMO]
Spin is the biggest difference. The more rpm the better the flight especially with gyro
gyro does nothing it's pure marketing bs.
Gyro is just trade dress. Totally brilliant trade dress, but not much more.
I like the flight of my quasar more but im keeping both in my bag for the time being
Honestly, advanced players who throw 400 plus, a lot of destroyers become too flippy in Kansas winds. I’m always trying to get DD3s or destroyers that are more overstable runs. Or forces that are slightly more understable variations, to find that happy balance for my main driver. So I think there’s definitely a market for this disc. I get what you’re saying though!
Yeah, there are some pretty beefy Destroyers out there that can even handle Kansas winds.. You just have to find them! Another great option is an Enforcer! I'm always shocked at how much glide those have while still holding it's stability in winds!
My gyropalooza TimeLapse must be the twin sister of the one Drew Gibson was unable to not flip over because I can get full flexes out of it with a forehand
I just think MVP can’t do drivers at all for arm speeds that are 50-60mph. All the discs have -1 turn and are over stable like 4 fade. Now discs like the Crave and Rhythm are good. Unlike other manufacturers like the Westside King fly perfectly like a broken in destroyer out of the box. MVP needs to go back to the lab and figure out the dome and spin stuff.
No they don’t though. That’s what separates them from the rest and they’re KILLING the business. If you can’t throw mvp don’t, they’re different for a reason. Spin and arm speed is key. These are amazing and have 3 ordered and thrown proto and new. New is way better. Less stable and more glide.
@@TacitcalThrower they're BY FAR the most inconsistent manufacturer on the market.
@@derpderpin1568 lmao no they’re not 😂😂😂
Guarantee hardly anyone agrees with that
well i mean, ye if you trhow 380 "on a good day" its not a max distance disc for you. but meybe a trusty overstabel disc.
Even then, It's hard to trust it because these turn when thrown at higher speeds.. So in the wind it will turn, it's a little misleading because I don't have the arm speed to get turn out of it... So I would more trust an overstable Halo Wraith than the stock version of this... But the Protos, which don't turn even when thrown 450ft+.. Those I would trust as a trusty overstable wind fighter!
This kinda sounds like every MVP/Axiom disc I've ever thrown combined with the finickyness of a high speed driver.
My Tesla was stupid stable out of the box but it's beaten into its numbers.
My max is 450 and I love the Timelapse it’s perfect
Oh yeah, for those who can throw 420+ I'm sure this is an amazing Destroyer-type disc!
Great info David. Thanks for these review vids I know a lot of work goes into them My best disc speed for distance is between 7 & 9. Weight is in the mod 160 G distance max 280 currently Heavier discs and I just can’t put them out there. Do you have similar struggles with +170 discs?
I usually have max weight for putters and mids, then fairways I like around 171-172g, and distance drivers I keep 168-171ish grams... I have a few max weight discs with drivers but for the most part I like keeping them at lighter weights, It's a bit easier for me to get them up to speed! Even if it's just in my head
I am waiting for a Fission version (if it ever comes out).
ooo! that would be interesting!
After watching the video Simon just put out, color matters. Certain colors are like the proto run, others are less stable and some even less stable than that
So, it flies like a 12, 5, 0, (3,4).
These probably kick ass for side arm though
Probably... But I don't have a good enough side arm to know 😂
seems like barely anyone that bought the time lapse is throwing it, so not even an issue!
Thanks for the review! Timelapse is not the kind of disc I could use other than forehand but I'll definitely check out your mystery boxes.
Apollo might have Wraith power not over stable destroyer power
Yeah... I max out at Wraiths for sure! No denying that 😂
Even some days when I'm not feeling it I can't even throw those properly 😂
Looking to get that changed though 👀
I'm starting to give up hope for the Striker video 🥲. I've been loving your vids tho, real nice pacing so these are really enjoyable to follow. Aaaand the vids that have come out have been about discs that are just way more anticipated by the community 😅. I can't quite put my finger on it but somehow the content has kept on improving.
Thank you! I appreciate it! And yeah I still need to get out and throw the Striker... Other videos just keep coming up 😂
@@ApolloDiscGolf 😔 suffering from success I guess
@@1andonlyMiro yeah it's a downside of content creation. So many great ideas, so few resources. I often had videos planned, but had to postpone them for months due to other things that came up. Good problem to have, though!
From what he has said and others, i know the Time Lapse is not a disc for me. The MindBender however has been great. Like you say, ya got to know your own game.
Maybe it’s the winter, but I hate the Neutron plastic.
But Simon said the white one is more stable
I disagree
It’s perfect
I’m 945 rated
Throw 430’ backhand
350’ forehand
I have a white one and fresh out of the box it’s 12/5/-.5/3
It’s overstable but not “beefy”
It still glides
Perfect headwind driver and forehand disc for predominantly FH players
Oh yeah, if you can throw 420+ then I'm sure its great! But for most who throw under 400ft... Not so much! at least it's not what Simon said they were going to be based on the protos he got
Most Am players don't want to admit it, but they don't need to be throwing destroyers anyway.
The Wraith and Grace is all most ever need, and they are beautiful discs at that!
I’ll still buy Time Lapse.. If you don’t learn how to throw higher speed disc you’ll just be stuck with the plan old low speed disc for the rest of your game.. I’ve been playing for 6 years and I’m finally stepping out the box and buy more high speed disc and throwing max weight and perfecting my form.. This is how I see it and it’s just my opinion, if you left 100lb weight and counting to lift the same weight you’ll go no where. lol idk I’m just saying
If it's ''too'' stable, just anny the fuck out of it--->win.
