Finally! I am so happy we're getting actually good Boros Equipment cards. I've been playing since Fate Reforged and trying to find a good and fun Boros deck together ever since (It's my absolute favorite guild). If this exact pre-con had come out 2-3 years ago, it would have been bonkers. Sadly, there has been a lot of power creep. Nevertheless, I enjoy this way more than the niche strategies (Think FS&SS, Feather and even Winota) being the color combination's only highlights. They of course should exist too, but these cards all build towards Boros combat strategies being actually viable in multiplayer EDH. Which I think will be good for both Boros Fans like myself, as for the format as a whole. Combat being actually dangerous and relevant could help pull EDH back from the Ramp/Combo exclusive meta we have now. Can't combo if you're dead!
Some other suggestions for aspirant Boros Equipment players:
Akiri, Fearless Voyager (probably still good enough effects to include, even in a more focused Voltron build)
Reyav, Master Smith (cheap uncommon from CMR, no voltron is complete without Double Strike)
Puresteel Paladin (better Sram, with super equipment synergy)
Tome of Legends (good in any commander-combat focused deck, cheap in mana and money cost, get it while you still can)
Heavenly Blademaster (can be a good top-end, would proabably need a more upgraded equipment package though)
Danitha Capashen (alternative beater, makes equipment cheaper)
I feel the deck can be build in a way where Akiri and Wyren (and to a lesser extent Reyav) are fairly interchangeable. Basically just drop the aura subtheme, which I think might be a good idea anyway.
Baller cards (no explanation, their power should be obvious):
Stoneforge Mystic, Enlightened Tutor, Batterskull, Sword of X&Y (take your pick)
Also, replace the boardwipes with ones that actually synergize with a voltron synegy like Single Combat
And look at the Command Zone's video on Akiri. I put in the ZNR lands and Crucible of World on their recommendation, and it feels very smooth.
I really hope they keep the Boros hot streak going in Kaldheim I have good hope, dwarves and more equipment please?

Word of seizing can grab a planeswalker and ult it. You can also grab a cradle, steal a voltron commnder, blow out a combo or alpha strike, and in very desperate situations, grant haste to a creature you just played.

    @nik700 Před 3 lety +30

It's nice that Boros is having a lot of good commanders that are synergistic with each other. Equipments are still a niche deck building restriction, but if you put Wyleth, Akiri, Sram and Reyav together the deck feels very coherent and one single swing gives you so much value.
Also, am I the only one thinking on building Wyleth with an Aura theme?

Flickerwisp is in the deck to "reequip" auras to other creatures when they come back to the field. I guess it's there to be able to reattach auras to Wyleth if you've played them on something else first, but with so few targets to use this effect it is indeed a head scratcher. You can also flick your opponents stuff, but you wouldn't really run that card just for that. Tho, I'm happy they are keeping it's price low with reprints.

Going to give the deck a shot after I adjust it. Removing 4 lands to start and putting in Nahiri, heir to the ancients. 11 creatures is just to little so adding her for some free blockers. Also maybe adding Rings of Brighthearth

What are your thoughts on the totem armor enchantments: hyena umbra and eland umbra? They are pretty cheap cards (both is price and mana cost) and would give Wyleth a bit of protection.

I think flickerwisp was put in to move auras around. Granted, it's completely outclassed by the new white partner, but it targets any permanent, so that seems the most likely reason.

Question. Would you be able to output infinite damage if you had Blazing Sunsteel on an indestructible Boros Reckoner? They both say if damage is dealt to this/equipped creature deal that much damage to any target. That means two triggers right? Have one trigger hit whatever and one hit Boros Reckoner again and repeat. Or am I missing some important text?

That Blazing Sunsteel COULD possibly have a place in my Nin, the Pain Artist deck. That equip cost is still nuts though. It'd be sweet to have it on Brash Taunter etc and just nail it with Nin's ability to draw a lot of cards and deal that much damage to that target twice.

I just played this earlier today and Flickerwisp was actually useful. My opponent had the new simic deck, so his creatures were three times the size of mine and Flickerwisp was my only flyer. Also, it allowed me to flicker Oreskos Explorer twice for extra ramp.
I expect to break this one down and file it. If I were upgrading, based on how that first game went, the first thing I'd add would be Leonin Abunas.

oreskos explorer isn't ramp. it just searches in your hand. but for 4 mana and the restriction that you have to be behind for it to do anything, it should put at least one on the field
