Note on the talk about Underworld Breach: At the beginning of the end step means it triggers on each turn, not just your own. Also, Yawg Will doesn’t just look at the cards in your graveyard upon resolution, though any card that ends up in your yard for any reason after you play Yawg Will gets exiled.
I feel when Josh said something about all the shenanigans you could get up to and jimmy mentioned destroying artifacts it was a joke that went right under the radar, but I see you jimmy, it gave me a laugh
I love the shirt that’s a play on The Wu-Tang clan... I Think we can all agree that Josh earns the all time best T-shirt award.

WU-BRG for the win!
underworld breach says at the beginning of the end step even if you sundialed you can't sundial on your opponent's turn so you would still have to sac breach on your opponent's end step
Getting to watch A THB video that's almost two hours long after a devastating day at work, while brewing an Athreos decklist?
Yes, Please. You rock guys.
Very similar here bro, except I'm brewing Oloro xD I hope your day gets much better before it ends :)
@@DivinePenguin00 Thanks man, thankfully it's ending on a much higher note, Oloro is very spicy, used to be a powerhouse in cEDH tournaments in my town! Have fun brewing 😁
atherooooooooos! Shoot me decklist when you get a chance, just cracked one this weekend
Us: we want mono white to get some better cards
Wotc: did you say green?
Did u see heliod🤮 dirty
@@tonybonesjones2822 Heliod is a good card but it's just one and my play group rarely does combo
@@tonybonesjones2822 It's just good, everyone else did better
They finally realized how broken mono white is.
Mark Rosewater: “Okay guys, we’ve had a lot of complaints lately about the power level of Blue and Green.”
Wotc: *Oh! They’re too weak!* “Don’t worry, we’ll fix that real quick, Mark!”
They could have given white a constellation card that reads: when an enchantment ETB, put a plains into play if you have less lands than an opponent, otherwise put it into your hand.
That would have totally been in white’s colour pie. Major missed opportunity.
Are the revealing a card off the top of the library or searching for plains card?
Ichthyomorphosis is the combinaton of ancient greek words

I'm surprised they didn't mention Whirlwind Denial - 2U for an instant that counters ALL of your opponent's spells and abilities on the stack unless they pay 4 for each one. Seems like a very solid piece of interaction to deal with storm type decks that put tons of copies of a spell on the stack, or huge stacks of triggered abilities from a scapeshift type deck.
@Najawin that's magical christmas land tough
At about 1:15:00ish - Pegasus the actual mythological Greek creature was created when Perseus cut the head off the Gorgon, Medusa. He was formed from her blood. However, it wasn't Perseus who actually rode/flew on Pegasus, that was Bellerophon who slew the Chimera while riding Pegasus. Bellerophon eventually tried to fly Pegasus to Olympus but fell off in the attempt. Later, Zeus then turned/made Pegasus into the constellation, Pegasus.
Just in case anyone wanted to know.
Edit: also this is the hyper condensed TLDR version. Literally each sentence I wrote could be expanded on by at least 6 paragraphs to explain more stuff, details and alternate theories. So yeah
There is always someone on the internet, that is faster than youself. You could not have said it better :)
Ragehardt 😇 thanks! I'm a Greek history/mtg nerd with the day off!
Correct;the God Mercury loaned
Perseus his winged sandals, but the pegasus thing was cool in the old Ray Harryhausen film 'Clash of
The Titans',although most younger
people won't have heard of that one;they probably only remember
the remake.
Really love the end card screen when you two were crediting the Command Zone team! It's really classy and easy to read. Hope to see it more often!
Jimmy: let’s just jump right into it
Sponsors: *AM I A JOKE TO YOU*
YOU TO JOKE A I AM??!?
At 1:09 they talk about the sponsors.
There's a black instant that kinda destroys enchantments. That's big, I can't believe you didn't even mention it.
Note on the foil constellation basics, each collector booster is supposed to come with 2 of them so there should be more of those floating around than the unstable full arts
1:19:40 Arixmethes tho! When it's not a creature, it's a land with a cmc of 4.
I'm ready to put NIghtmare Sheppard in my Rat Colony deck. Because they'll still get the +1/+0 for the other rats.
HOO! Spicy! I've gotta get one for my lady's Marrow Gnawer deck!
Yeah, I'm taking out Wayward swordtooth and putting in the new Dryad in my Omnath Lands deck for sure! (The reason I'm not simply adding it is that one instance of 'you can play more than 1 land' is almost always plenty in an average game.)
One way prevent Thassa's Oracle from resolving is by diminishing that player's devotion to blue, 40:15
Even if the oracle player has zero devo to blue, the oracle trigger is still there and having zero devo to blue will still win. Once oracle hits the table, stifling the oracle trigger is only out available
I had a fun time at my pre-release draft. I got a copy of Heliod, The pegasus lifelink archon, and hydra essence.
Ashiok's Erasure also has the O-Ring and Fiend Hunter exploit: you can bounce or sacrifice it in response to the ETB trigger and make sure the exiled spell stays in exile.
I really like that they’re bringing back mechanics on cards from Shadowmoor/Eventide that are now super expensive and putting them on creatures. They did it with Faeburrow Elder and now with the new Dryad, and I’m very glad I can now afford these effects.
Just finished watching the endstep at 4:35, great recommendation
One with the stars has the potential to be a great defense while enchanting your commander (enchantments are considerably harder to remove than creatures). Obviously not in every case but still pretty nice.
I have a Call the Spirits pre-con that I've never upgraded, so my first plan is to fit some of the new enchantment cards into that.
The Archon is the entire thing, the rider and the ride
Shadowspear is one of my favorites so far. I don't have it yet, but I think I can definitely find use for it in my mono black Ayara, first of Lochtwain deck, because I'm often battling against my bestie, who uses Sen Triplets with the Lightning Greaves, and I just have trouble against her stuff.
how would you be able to tap mana in response to flashes pay or sac part with nyxbloom if the entire spell has to resolve before either player can have priority?
Underworld Breach has many win the game combos. You mentioned Lion's Eye Diamond and Wheel of Fortune as value, but together they go infinite.
They can't go infinite technically, you are limited by how many cards are in your deck. Eventually you'll run out of cards to draw or exile. You need fo exile 6 cards from your grave each time you cast wheel and Lion's and eventually you'll run out of cards to draw and will only have so many you can exile to keep casting.
@@BuildANewGod91 That's true, but that's also when you cast your Labman and win the game
@@RntLnr you mean Thassa's Oracle? ;D
@@BuildANewGod91 LOL XD
Jimmy: "if you are Black-red, it's a good chance you're not the arch enemy"
The thumbnails ARE amazing, glad you mentioned it, was about to ask if they were new, as I usually listen to your podcast when I drive to work and it didn't catch my attention until now.
Small, quality-of-life improvements like this show to me you haven't "settled on your success" but keep pushing for even better content, great job :) Really love those sarcastic jokes like Jimmy's "white conquers its problems" one too!
I saw this in a Muddstah video, Cephalid Illusionist can be targeted by an equipment like lightning greaves which has a 0 equip cost. You can activate the ability to equip an equipment onto a creature that already had the equipment as long as you can pay the equip cost, in this case 0. So you can mill yourself with just activating the equip ability which will resolve doing nothing but can still he activated.
I just realized you guys went nearly 2 hours without drinking or taking a bathroom break. As a teacher, I applaud you.
taxing planeswalkers already existed. 1W for an enchantment called Suppression Field.
Activated abilities cost 2 more to activate unless they're mana abilities.
I got a Niv-Mizzet, Parun deck that is very excited for Underworld Breach. Frantic Search comes to mind to whizz through the deck, Hopefully picking up Mana Geyser and Bonus Round to really get things going.
You guys did a great job going over the Thassa's Oracle issues! I know neither of you are really cEDH players, so thank you for taking the time to go over the interactions and concerns of the cEDH community. You did a very concise and comprehensive study of it, for which I am grateful. I am a cEDH player, and Thassa's Oracle is BY FAR the most impactful card in this set, or in any set for some time now. My main argument for Flash Hulk being balanced was the number of ways to stop/interact with the combo, as well as the number of dedicated deck slots required to make the combo work, most of which were dead cards in any other scenario. Thassa's Oracle negates BOTH of those arguments!!
My favorite Deck is my Golos Maze end :) (before Golos it was Jodah Maze End) and im going to include the Dryad in my Deck but i think im going to replace another play an extra Land card with it (maybe my Azusa Dino).
One with the stars could hose certain commanders that need to attack, such as Brago or Narset.
Callix's ultimate is already a 4 mana sorcery called Replenish. Having said that, Replenish is $50 and on the reserve list. I played a Replenish deck in old extended, and you absolutely need blue to help fill your graveyard, especially looters and similar effects. Callix in a Bantchantress deck would probably work well.
I love that you guys constantly gives nods to cedh. It is great to see representation for the format on such a large channel 💜
Jimmy: this is the first Planeswalker with a mechanic on it
Tezzeret with affinity: am I a joke to you?
Michael Tate if you want a list, there’s uncommon angrath (amass), Domri Chaos Bringer (riot), Oko (food)
That's not exactly right.
Those are abilities that might have a keyword in them.
Like for instance Tezzeret. He gives affinity as a static ability. He does not have affinity.
But I get what you mean.
Yes
You all forget about Narset Transcendent with Rebound way back in Dragons of Tarkir.
1:09:30, Teysa and Nightmare Shepherd don't work together, because you can't exile the dying creature card twice.
Looking forward to seeing more gameplay with the new set soon, hopefully.... 😬
Regarding Calix, my roommates and I have begun brewing a Bant Auras deck in Pioneer and we're enjoying the interaction between Calix and Hadana's Climb. If you -3 Calix, then target your own Hadana's Climb for Calix's second target.... After Climb transforms your opponent is gonna have a helluva time getting their permanent back.
Wouldn't they get their permanent back when hadana transforms? It's exiles its self to transform.
@@lanewright1143 it does not exile itself. A permanent transforming does not normally leave the battlefield. Compare the rules text on hadana's climb to the text on Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
Ahhhhhh. My playgroup has been playing it wrong hahaha. Thank you.
lane wright if I remember correctly, the only transform cards that exile and come back are the creature -> planeswalker cards.
And that’s so they can get their counters.
Underworld breach with a sac outlet. A dockside extortionate and a Stitcher supplier can go infinite.
I'm excited about the new Giant Kroxa. I'm about to push the limit for madness and this fun new escape mechanic. Can't wait for them to come out with more and see were escape leads.
i can already imagine some jank combos with one with the stars, like making a land a creature or enchantment and throwing this aura onto it, then use cards like detention sphere, echoing truth, maelstrom pulse, or scour it to hit every land with the same name XD.
One with the Stars will go great in my Nekusar deck!
Regarding Ashiok's Erasure: I think the best way to abuse this is to bounce it back to your hand with the exile effect on the stack.(The ol' O-ring trick.) Then, you have it back in your hand to make casting other things a pain.
Purphoros Intervention could be a card for Brudiclad :-) It gives you a big finisher with trample which you can turn all your tokens in or emergency removal
49:30 Adding!
Burgeoning + Exploration + Gaea's Touch + Ghirapur Orrery + Oracle Of Muldaya + Rites Of Flourishing + Storm Cauldron + Summer Bloom + Wayward Swordtooth + Dryad Of The Illysian Grove
All go in the Azusa, Lost But Seeking deck.
Great set review. I’m excited for the set now where before I was only “meh” on it. Here I come prerelease.
Have Managorger Hydra on the battlefield, enchant it with Hydra's Growth, and get ready to rumble.
*gets wrathed*
@@ricepatch There are numerous ways to circumvent Wraths especially in Simic.
@@sierrameeves4781 I am aware of this sorry just cracking a joke
saga's sacrifice is state based, it gets sacrificed and the ability goes on the stack. you can't return it to hand in responce to it's ability, however, if you aren't after the last ability, you can bounce it after draw step, when it's trigger to put a counter on it goes to stack
Just as an aside to your evalution, Ashiok is a must include in Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge! Cast anything you can't otherwise get with Jelly ;)
Speaking of coping sagas. If you have Estrid's Invocation as a copy of a saga, would you be about to add a counter to it and get the saga trigger then blink it, right?
Ichyomorphosis falls off if your devotion falls below the required amount for the god to be a creature. Changing type is a protected ability so it can't be removed by "Loses all abilities". Something about layers.
Nyxbloom ancient flash of cool, but it requires you to pay the cost because when you announce that you are going to pay, you can then tap lands to add the mana to your mana pool then pay the cost. So flash isn’t the greatest ramp spell in magic, it just puts one of the best ramp spells into play and enables it.
Would you be able to manipulate the last steps of the sagas with the counters?
Just watched a box opening and you get some foiled lands in the boosters.

Rafael Neves thanks
Thx
Thanks. Life saver... :)
I'm so pumped to slot Nadir Kraken into my Ephara deck and I don't see anyone talking about it lol it's going to be a blast
One with the Stars is amazing to protect YOUR commander from tgt kill or board wipes :D Def going in my Zedruu deck :D
I don't know if you cover this elsewhere in the video, when Calix ults the enchantments he returns DOES NOT TARGET when it enters the battlefield. AFAIK it means you can then enchant creatures with hexproof/shroud/protection from those colours.
Can’t hear that theme tune without singing “it’s a di-no-saur, it’s a di-no-saur”
Ox of Agonas personally. Fills your yard, draws you some and can be reanimate himself. I run Feldon so he can constantly mini-wheel and have more options to create tokens with
I like the Blue Intervention card... it feels like a very good utility piece
Maybe storm Herald is doing stuff with auras in red to make a Boros commander like Feather but with Auras , just maybe
Just became a patreon like a week ago. I love it already
Patron
What if you play one with the Stars on your own commander too protect it since now it's an enchantment instead of a creature and thus harder too deal with
Ashiok's Erasure requires a card to be exiled so if it's cast on a commander that moves to the command zone, it doesn't stop people from casting their commander. That being said, since it removes a card from the stack, it's an effective counter to spells that normally cannot be countered like Obliterate.
You missed the connection between Siona and Shield of Faith. Infinite tokens.
/Quick note about the song: why wasn't that sung for ixalan?
Banishing Light was specifically made to not allow such exploits: it can't be used on your own stuff, and if it leaves the battlefield before its ETB trigger resolves, the targeted permanent isn't exiled at all.
Is inspired back or whatever the mechanic that cares when creature is untapped. Works well in my phenax deck
One interaction you didn't consider with One with the Stars is you can put it on your commander to keep access to its abilities while protecting it from dying to boardwipes or edict effects
u guys gave me a really good theme idea im gonna build a themed kenrith saga's deck by telling king arthurs tale's : ) i like it allready
Any word on the upcoming 2020 Commander PreCons? Do we know when they're coming??
Wizard website has release dates under products
I feel like Whirlwind Denial deserved a mention. Sometimes way too many triggers (sometimes even from multiple players) end up on the stack at once and, correct me if I'm wrong, it's the only spell that can stifle the entire stack
Kadena's Silencer does similar.
I think you guys missed a big interaction with Storm Herald; if one the auras he brings back is Flickerform and then the player proceeds to use it's hability, the auras exiled with flickerform will get around the exile clause and return at the end of the turn.
In regards to saga's , I think the best commander for them is Muldrotha, since it can cast them again from the graveyard.
Can you imagine casting Time Stretch off of Underworld Breach in a Sevinne edh deck?! Chronoclasm indeed!
1:14:00 Enchanted evening plus Aura Thief
One with the Stars says enchant enchantment so that it will remain on the creature once it is turned into an enchantment, otherwise it would fall off immediately.
Wouldn't it stay anyways? Because the second clause says "Enchanted permanent is...". Also, I think it is stated as enchantment as well because people might change their devotion for their gods to evade this spell, but the two options keep it legal in such circumstances.
@@VexylObby Once the card loses its card type of creature, if the aura couldn't enchant an enchantment, then it would HAVE to fall off as a state based action.
@@staizer That's a huge flaw of auras.
@@VexylObby which is why it has the text enchant enchantment.
@@staizer Still, it wouldn't have to be that way. It is against flavor (and arguably consistency) to have an aura suddenly "leave" a permanent. Also, cool things could happen if we were able to enchant a permanent type and that permanent keep the aura as it changes its card type.
underworld breach has an infinite combo with lotus petal/LED and glimpse the unthinkable. you mill yourself for 10 (thats 3 escape costs+1 for later) you escape cast the led/lotus petal 2 times once for black once for blue then you cast glimpse again until you mill your deck then lasty you cast the led for 3 blue ()or lotus petal twice for a blue) then cast thassa's oracle for the win. you also have some leftover casrd in your graveyard with are free counterspells like pact of negation or force of will and whatnot so you even have your protection in the combo
Seething song and underworld breach seems pretty good, you know, in case your opponents dont have many tapped lands.
New ability types for MONO WHITE ONLY (meaning other colors won't get these powers)
Guardian: this will guard a card from anything. Try to remove guarded card in any way and the effect will go on to the guardian (unless exiled). If the guarded card is exiled the guardian dies with it. Guardian X would guard X target permanents. If a board wipe happens then the guarded creature will remain .
2nd ability: tax
Add a tax TOKEN every time a land is tapped. Remove some tax counters and activate an ability (gain life, create token, DESTROY LAND, DRAW CARD, etc). Tax 2 (or any number) will mean for every 2 lands taped add a tax token ( for a bit of balance). The tax can't stack player to player (if two people cast three cards each you'd only get two triggers in my example). This can also be a "tax" and "tax collector" and be two separate cards.
Card type:blessing
If you have city's blessing the SORCERY card gets an added effect
New card: Citadel
When both city's blessing and monarchy are on your side of the board make a Citadel. Citadels have both city's blessing and monarchy effects however it won't go to other players. The only way to get rid of it is by exiling.
3rd ability: New monarch.
If a creature comes into play and is the strongest creature(strength + toughness), on the board make a monarchy token
For clarification X means any number.
Hey isn't one with the stars in Greek mythology when Artemis the goddesse of the hunt decides to make a hunter a constallation
You're thinking of Orion, yes. There's a couple of hunters she's had a relationship with; Orion's one of the good ones, but if you want to be depressed about unfair fates, look at what she does to poor Actaeon (especially if you're reading Ovid's version titled "Diana and Actaeon.")
@@PoliusPlays yum yum stag
1:39:30
Have underworld breach in hand
Create infinite mana
Cast sweet oblivion from hand
Now you got options
Also, Nihil Spellbomb in comparison to Soul-Guide Lantern. It doesn't exile a card with an ETB effect, but you can still hate on a graveyard and draw a card at the same time.
But that requires playing Black to do so. This is colorless graveyard hate.
nyx lotus is gonna be great in standard because of all the untap shenanigans. mono blue loves it with infinite mana thrassa's oracle/gadwick
Nightmare Shepherd is definitely great for commander because it gives creatures on your board a second life (albeit theyre 1/1s).
Purphuros invocation in naya tokens with the doublers seems like it'll be good. I'll have to test it but it's on the docket.
1:15:26, josh is thinking of bellerophon, who rides Pegasus, and kills the Chimera. he was known for messing up everything that he ever tried to do. he has one of the not super bed endings for most Greek heroes
You guys were right about it being Perseus who killed Medusa and from her blood sprang Pegasus. He did get to ride Pegasus from that, but also Bellerophon tamed and tried to ride Pegasus to the top of Mt Olympus. The 2nd guy fell to his death when Pegasus threw him off.
Just putting this out there: Archon of Sun's Grace, Enchanted Evening, Lab Man, and Setessan Champion (or any enchantress of your choice). Draw your entire deck off infinite pegasi for the silliest Bant win ever!

@@weeblewobblex awesome, thanks!
So pumped for this new set
I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but One with the Stars has to say "enchant creature **or enchantment**" because otherwise, if you enchant a creature and it becomes an enchantment and loses all other types, One with the Stars would "fall off" because it would not be enchanting a legal target (because it is no longer enchanting a creature). That phrase isn't meant to change functionality of the card, it's just to ensure that the card functions correctly under the current rules.
So this is a question for everyone. But how do people feel about being able to take extra turns. With my Golos commander deck, I run a bunch of take an extra turn cards like temporal mastery, karn's temporal sundering, part the waterveil, etc. By using swarm intelligence and mirrormade, I can effectively take 24 extra turns in one turn. My play group gets annoyed with it since my turn drags on (upwards of 10-20 minutes for all turns) but it is completely legal. How do others feel about it?
They put two green cards aside to talk later but never did LOL
Im guessing one of them is Setessan Training? Would love to try that one for my Tir/Toothy deck but not sure what card I would remove to put it in its place...
