    You DON’T NEED an additional card for the “Terror of Peaks + Sekki Seasons’ Guide” combo. The dragon is already lethal with the 8 spirits infinitely coming in 😂.

    • @andyscout
      @andyscout Před 4 lety +19

      Yup, scrolled down to say this. Sekki does the 8 damage to itself but the 8 tokens can also ping someone when they come into play. Then sac them to get Sekki back and repeat.

    The Terror-Sekki combo will actually kill because each spirit that comes in off Sekki also has a Terror trigger. So each time you ping Sekki for eight you also ping an opponent for eight.

    I think Jimmy and Josh missed the most relevant part of Ghostly Pilferer: you draw a card when people cast their commander from the command zone. If you expect to get 2 draws out of it from that, I think it is almost worthwhile.

    • @dr.lemonade242
      @dr.lemonade242 Před 4 lety +1

      In other words, Ghostly Pilferer is great if you have it in your opening hand. If you don't have it in your opening hand, how are you supposed to predict when your opponent casts their commander? It's a viable card for a weenie deck, but it's nothing special.

    • @matthewlevi600
      @matthewlevi600 Před 4 lety

      Not for blue, 2 mana for a card in blue is at best middling.

    • @marklepischak9587
      @marklepischak9587 Před 4 lety

      First thing I thought too and it was an upside they overlooked and didn't mention. Valid point by Dr. Lemonade that it's great if you have it turn two but loses value later in the game. I'd run it in spirit tribal or in something that wants to discard so you can ditch it later in the game.

    • @jlbrooks74
      @jlbrooks74 Před 4 lety +2

      @@dr.lemonade242 maybe because commanders get removed and recast? Mid game with open mana to sink into an unblockable that will draw you a card? It's good and I am certain it will see cEDH play while casuals gloss over it kinda like Dockside Extortionist did until it picked up steam.

    • @Asmodeus555
      @Asmodeus555 Před 4 lety +4

      @@jlbrooks74 Yeah I think its definitely at least fringe cEDH playable. The meta is kind of dominated by Consultation-Oracle decks and it doesn't do much against those, particularly Thasios shells. But it does great against a variety of combos and commanders which are currently played in cEDH; Food Chain combo, any Underworld Breach or Yawg Will decks, Urza decks, Elsha, Jeleva, Golos. Emry, Kess, Uro, any Escape or Flashback or similar.
      If those things are in your meta Ghostly Pilferer is pretty decent, a lot of combos cast spells repeatedly from outside of your hand generating infinite mana or drawing cards, with this you can make them do the loop one at a time and draw an answer to disrupt their combo.
      In casual the card probably won't be as good but in a cEDH setting could be quite powerful and cause quite a few headaches depending on your meta.

  • @lepromisedmonke7012
    @lepromisedmonke7012 Před 4 lety +74

    Dont really like to critique but you guys really missed the mark on assessing Ghostly Pilferer. It reads whenever a player cast's their commander you draw a card + a bunch of other ways to draw off it. It also hits so many other popular commanders rn and is super good against a meta with partners. Also acts as a free discard outlet which can matter a lot...

      Totally. It also triggers off of things that let you cast
      - from exile (such as cascade, impulsive draw, suspend, Isochron Scepter, Possibility Storm, rebound, Thada Adel, and every Food Chain deck).
      - from a hand that isn't yours (e.g., Sen Triplets, Reversal of Fortune)
      - from the top of your library (e.g., Rashmi, Yennett)
      I'll be putting this card in just about every blue deck I own.

      @therealax6 Před 3 lety

      In general, if a spell has targets, it will resolve as long as it has at least one legal target at resolution. (Rule 608.2b.) It doesn't matter if the targets are for the same mode or not.
      If only some of the modes have targets (not the case of Sublime Epiphany), if you choose modes with targets, as long as one of them still has a valid target, the spell resolves; if the spell as a whole has no valid targets, it won't resolve, and even untargetted parts of the spell won't happen. (For instance, Inscription of Insight has a mode that says "Scry 2, then draw two cards". The other two modes are targetted. If you choose all three modes, and one of the targetted modes has no legal targets, the other two still happen. If both modes have no legal targets, the spell doesn't resolve and you don't get to scry and draw.)

Swinging a board of deattouchers with a loyal unicorn out was nasty. Odric, Master Tactician also ensured maximum lethality, especially coupled with Knighthood.

Block one (deal damage and heal 4hp)receive damage on taunter and send it to attacking player for that much damage AND some lifegain, then tap to fight the biggest threat on the table to get another 4hp from the creature and deal damage to anyone you want equal to the damage dealt to Brash taunter (wich will trigger some more lifegain). Really looking foward to try this fun little dude. Of course I'm gonna put Fiery Emancipation in the same deck. I doubt these cards will see a lot of field time together very often, but when they do... :)

    What is Brash Taunter's, interaction with trample? Normally you only need to assign enough damage to kill the creature (equal to its toughness,) but it has indestructible so... what happens?

    I wonder why thinking about transmogrify noonw thought about polymorph, it's not only a removal, wich chaos warp is, but it can be a tool of your own to cheat something in play, something red doesn't do much often

    Sparkhunter Masticore does not have the Masticore text! It used to be on upkeep. On cast is much better. It actually could be decent for a deck that wants it's traits.

      I believe with the multiple choice modal cards it will resolve as many effects as possible, and if any fizzle it won't cancel the others. But I am not a judge so I may be wrong.

    25:50 for the spell to fizzle, don't ALL the targets have to be non-valid? Otherwise it will just try to do all the targets it can. So as long as you have a target player, it should keep going. Although at some point you would have to start targeting your other Dualcaster clones with the bounce effect if you kept cloning it after clearing the board...

    Can you cast See the Truth multiple times with Underworld Breach? After you cast it once, doesn't it become a new instance of the card, which was put into the graveyard after Underworld Breach came into play? Or does Underworld Breach's effect continue through the whole turn, even things that entered after it came into play?

  • @Leivve
    @Leivve Před 4 lety

    Double visions doesn't help you win by infinitely copying a copy spell on your turn. Double Visions copies the first one and you can't cast a copy unless you cast a spell before it for the copy spell to copy. So unless they drop the copy spell on someone else's turn which requires your opponents to play an instant or sorcery.

    I think Sekki and Terror of the Peaks are a two card combo that kills the table, right?
    Sekki ETB's, trigger TotP
    Target Sekki, deal 8, make 8 Spirits, trigger TotP 8 times
    8 Spirits ETB w/ the ability to deal 1 damage each to any target (face)
    Sac 8 Spirits to return Sekki, rinse and repeat
