Hey guys.... so you guys said that with repeated reverberated. Means that they’d add multiple loyalty counters. Does that mean you couldnt multiple ult a planeswalker?? Because it says copy the ability.
travis brandt putting loyalty counters is a cost so it doesn’t help planeswalker get to their ultimates but if you get the walker there it will triple activate it
I just want to make sure that everyone is aware that repeated reverberation does not increase loyalty after the first planeswalker ability is activated. Loyalty counters are added or removed as part of the activation cost of the ability, they are not part of its effect.
Yeah, the impression I got from listening was that they thought it would give the extra loyalty. Which is very much not the case.

"Are elemental decks really that powerful?" In my opinion, one of the most overlooked and underplayed commanders, and one of my personal fave decks I've ever built, is Horde of Notions. Elemental tribal is totally plausible, fun, and effective, and with all the new elemental support and badass elementals in this set, it's only getting stronger.

A lot of these cards were neat but nothing I needed for my collection/decks which was a bummer, but buying just the 6 or 7 cards I did want was way cheaper than buying a box, so I do appreciate that.

i don't think zacama works with sneak attack beacuse zacama has to be cast for it's effect to resolve, as well as to enter the battlefield

I own a copy of zacama because I ordered it on my lunch break at work when i was trying to think of another 9 mana creature for my grozoth faithless looting reanimator modern deck, then the card came and i was like O yeah... I still might run it for the ping and life gain because the deck is Mardu in lands, I might just get another blazing archon for it and call it a day though

How would that work? Doesn't Reanimate trigger before the creature hits the field?

So first the creature is on the battlefield, then you loose the life :)
the draw trigger go on the stack once Reanimate has finished resolving.

I sometimes feel like I can never be caught up with MTG since so many sets come out constantly.
Well yeah, especially with Modern Horizons style prices when the set isn't any better than Dominaria or War of the Spark are in all honesty. Higher price point and the highest priced card in each respective set is about the same.
What do you define as “caught up”? I keep up with what comes out, I just read the spoilers. And we only get 4 Standard sets and typically 1 supplemental set and a Commander deck each year.
When talking about Vilis, you can go turn 1 entomb Vilis then turn 2 reanmimate Vilis and because of the way reanimate is worded you lose the life after the creature enters so you get to draw 8 and you get an 8/8 flyer. This can also be done on turn 1 with dark ritual.
Regarding Yarok...so if you went through the Standard card pool and looked for permanents with sweet ETBs you could build a nice budget Commander deck!

My favorite card is Starfield Mystic, but I loved many cards from this set as well. Flood of Tears, Drawn From Dreams, Mu Yanling, Brought Back, Lotus Field, Sephara and Angel of Vitality to name a few.
They should do an episode of Game Knights where they play Oathbreaker.

I'm excited for putting the Red Calvalier into Feldon, the lands into Tasigur and Feldon and Yawgmoth, also the new autumn Veil into Tasigur and Arcades! This set has such amazing cards in it for commander. Gotta love Coremander set '20. I love this channel for their card breakdowns Jimmy and Josh are wealth of knowledge. Even when they overlook some cards that end up being amazing. Thanks for all your content!
I'm super excited to make an Elemental tribal deck after this set. Between Yorock, both multi-colored Omnaths, Muldrotha, Animar, Maelstrom Wanderer etc it sounds so much fun. Especially with that new card that turns all your elementals into Coiling oracles!

Cavalier of gales, great for your guys’ favorite legendary creature. Vanifar. Draw 3, great shuffle 2 exact Cmcs you need for ur next vanifar trigger. Great for when you top deck a 7 drop and only have a 3 or 4 drop out. Keeps the cycle going when you draw “dead cards”

Funny thing about Vilis is that if anyone plays any Nekusar-esque effects against you (even Ob-Nixilis Hate Twisted in standard), you just deck yourself due to his ability. It's pretty neat, and my friend and I thought about it like 5 minutes after the card was spoiled. But shenanigans aside, Vilis seems awesome, and I really liked a lot of the stuff from Core 2020. Great episode as always, guys!
Talking about how protection works makes me remember Craig's hilarious blunder on the GRN Game Knights. Granted pro-white and red to Aurelia, a red and white creature. Funny, but a learning experience nonetheless.
Since you guys were talking about Kykar a lot, I think Flame Sweep would be an excellent addition to Kykar. All the spirits you generate are flying so it avoids then, and it makes you an additional spirit on cast - you could also sacrifice three of your spirit flyers to pay for it at instant speed.
Golos can also be a good scepter combo, paradox engine deck with some extra turns.
Something to remember about Omnath, is that it comes from Zendikar, which introduced the Awaken mechanic, turning lands into elementals. Seems like that's what its design is trying to point towards, pushing that quite a bit, as well as the manlands.

Both Rienne and sneak attack trigger "at the beginning of the next end step" so i believe that means it will miss the timing. Making the creature return during the following turns end step

Notably, Sneak Attack’s sac and Rienne’s recovery are worded so that if you Sneak Attack with something, it will die *during* the end step and need to wait until the *next* turn’s to come back. So in the typical 4-player game you only get to drop these big ETBs twice per time around the table because the combo only fully resolves every other turn

There's a nice little acronym for what protection does: DEBT. If the interaction question would Damage, Enchant, Block, or Target and the card in question has a relevant protection clause in the ability, it does not work. If it does not do one of those four things, the interaction does do work.
I did put atemsis in a mormir vig commander deck...that alternet wincon is very reliable.
Repeated Reverberation -> you were talking about putting planeswalkers into ult range off one activation, but the way I read the card is likely that you would have two ability triggers on the stack, but you'd only gain the loyalty counters once since they are the cost of activating the ability. i.e. Teferi comes down with 4 loyalty, you cast Repeated Reverberation, you +1 Teferi, you draw two cards and untap 4 lands at end of turn, but he is at 5 loyalty not 6.
I looked up what the most popular commanders from this set were(in order): Golos, Yarok, Kykar, Omnath, and Gargos. Golos and Yarok are busted, Kykar has so many different ways to take him, Omnath is lands, and Gargos is hydra tribal(aka big beefy boys).
Scheming Symmetry is also good with Archive Trap.
Repeated Reverberation: You seem to imply that copying the ability will add more loyalty counters (several comments about "easier to ult"). Remember, adding/removing loyalty counters is part of the cost, so that won't be copied by the spell.
My Edgar will be happy to welcome the new Sorin. Also, the black knight and the Golgari enchantment will probably go into my Meren. I liked the set. Looking forward to some of the lands, too.
About Omnath: a LOT of the effects we got recently that turn lands into creatures turn them into Elementals. Playing additional lands as much as you can, Sylvan Awakening, Omnath, BOOM!
26:12 zacama is a cast trigger, so no untap with sneak attack
Small but important correction: Repeated Reverberation doesn't triple the amount of loyalty counters added or subtracted; those are treated as part of the cost, not the effect. You can't use it to get your Planeswalkers to an ultimate faster.
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Sorin can neg 3 and put Morophon into play from your hand. If you have Dark Ritual you can do it turn one.
Although this does mean having Morophon in the 99 or Command Beacon'd to hand. Still, worth noting
Don't forget: For Omnath, most of the time if you are animating your lands, they are elementals as well. A good piece in standard to combo with would be Sylvan Awakening

1:11:00 or so you start listing planeswalkers that can ultimate if you plus them 3 times, but Repeated Reverberation copies the effects of the loyalty ability, not the loyalty counter change.

I wanted to mention that I've already made the Hydra tribal deck, and I'm sorry to say but Unbound flourishing does NOT copy monstrous triggers, since after the first trigger resolves, the monster is now monstrous, and thus the second trigger fizzles.
Cavalier of night also goes infinite with a CMC 2-3 clone and a sac outlet.
You clone the cavalier, then sac the clone to the outlet. The clone then brings itself back with the death trigger.
Every time I watch the podcasts, I like keeping count of how many times Vedalken Orrery is mentioned.
Omnath, locus of the roil is a great add to the temur color pie as a commander, in multiplayer you can chose a blink/combo deck, abusing the value engines of the temur color and using omnath only as a finisher(wincon in cmd zone), you can also play lands, with punishing fire (tatyova can't do it), can go full ramp, using the rg omnath as a powerful finisher and the new one as a draw engine, control, an archetype that we've never seen before in this colors(because the card advantage in omnath is going to grind the game long to exhaust your opponents resources). Well, this is just my opinion on omnath, locus of the roil, i think he can be much more than you guys said.
Kethis with hope of ghirapur makes me very happy. Do it almost every turn.
The Elementals created by Chandra, Acolyte of Flame being sacrificed makes a difference to decks with death triggers. Something like Blood Artist or Diabolic Edict or Mayhem Devil in play means you will be getting 2 death triggers a turn in addition to 2 attackers.

I'm really excited for the new Kaalia. She was my first commander deck and I still love playing her.
Chandra, Awakened Inferno with an emblem or two and Sulfuric Vortex seems interesting (even Leyline of Combustion?). Maybe add in the damage doubling effects like Furnace of Rath? Commanders like Hazoret the Fervent or Purphoros, God of the Forge? Earthquake, Price of Progress, Comet Storm, Jaya's Immolation type cards? Seems like you could make a lot of friends this way.
I think that for the sneak/Rienne trick you need a sac outlet because if you sac at the beginning of the end step the timing for Rienne is gone so it's gonna happens on the next turn (see using Kiki-Jiki on end step)
Note on Ajani: if you have 15+ more life, you can activate him, flicker him, and he won't be exiled as he is now a different copy. Thus, Ajani plus any repeatable flicker effect is exile every artifact and creature your opponents control every turn. Ok, somebody will probably nuke it, but it is certainly worth considering in any deck that could meet those two conditions.
Honestly, whenever there are spoilers for a new set, I immediately get excited in anticipation for a set review episode!

Prof’s Sephara brew actually seems pretty sweet. Focuses around token generation since there are actually a lot of cards that make flying tokens. Also the ability to cheat Sephara out makes her a much better commander than Avacyn in my opinion because there are tons of ways to exile in commander and once you have played avacyn once she becomes really hard to play again.
The Art on those Elemental cards are amazing. Maybe I just like Elementals though lol.

The best thing about Chandra: even if you kill her controller, the emblems will stay.
Also, two emblems is Mogis damage. People often underestimate how much 2 damage each upkeep can impact them in the long run...
I'll be getting the blue and white Legendaries. Sephara belongs in my Avacyn-based Indestructa-deck. Atemsis is going into my alt-win-con deck; it doesn't do anything besides either win the game, or make other players lose.
Best card? I think, other than Flood of Tears, Lotus Field might just be the other option. That's also probably an even more straightforward way to ramp with Brought Back: float two white mana before playing the Lotus Field, bring back the two lands you sacrificed to play it, turn 4 hit your land drop and you untap with 6 mana. Or with anything that can untap your Lotus Field, even without Brought Back, you have 5 mana on turn 3 (float the two mana before sacrificing your lands, untap Lotus Field) and 7 mana on turn 4 if you hit your land drop, all ignoring any other mana rocks or dorks or whatever. That seems pretty good.
You can trample through a creature with protection also. It doesn't prevent all the damage by blocking.
but you still have to assign figurative lethal (ie. an 8/8 green trample blocked by 1/4 pro-green, 4 trample damage to opp)
New omnath in the 99 of horde of notions! Was hoping Josh would talk about the secret commander in the 5 color deck idea. In fact all of the new 3 color legendary elementals seem good in horde of notions. :)
I'm most excited to try and build a working Atemsis deck personally. I'll probably do Golos Gates as well

That zombie knight is really good in aminatou cat/spark double combo. 2 mana means reveilark can return it and you can tutor it with muddle the mixture transmute. Much better than Vela the Night Clad. You still run altar of the brood cause of whir of invention and all that
Vilis is in my Liliana, Heretical Healer deck. I was able to turn 2 Entomb Reanimate him and draw 8 cards. The guy next to me pathed it, but the damage had been done. None of them could deal with a turn 2 draw 8. He is a strong card.
1:10:45 I belive you are mistaken on how Repeated Reverberation works It does copy the PW's ability but the loyalty counters are part of that Ability's costs. You would resolve the ability x3 but only put the loyalty counters once
pretty sure that with Rienne + sneak attack you have to wait until the next turn to get the creature back. Beginning of the end step tiggers once, so you sac to sneak then Rienne triggers but beginning of the end step has already happened, so you have to wait until the next end step to get the creature back.
I wanted to build Golas as a fun Maze’s End Commander but that second ability is gonna have everyone giving you the stink eye when you flip him. Massive RIP
