So, Josh learned what it is like to play against Josh.
It felt weird to see so many likes but no comment but i also dont know what to say because you said it all....so hi :)
Josh is the goat tho
I just hope that the CZ guys paid for the travel expenses for their guests to come out and film. Imagine if MTGNerdGirl paid for travel and lodging (assuming she doesn't live in the area), only to get to do almost nothing in the game.
They pay for it
that's so evil and so true.. the like count proves everything.. There was 666 likes when I sent this

Wait, She had a turn?
Wait she played in this ep?
She was actually terrible i hope this is a joke lol
@@Laxrocks571 don't talk like that, please, the game was apparently unfair on her, it happens sometimes, I've been the weakest player on my group so I know how hard this can be. Also, it's magic, things don't always work as they should in magic
@@Laxrocks571 I'd love to see how you play her pre-built deck (made by someone else) with those other guys stealing eachother's turns and getting maximum ramp/value out while you draw none of you own. How do you play against people who take 2 extra turns BEFORE the turn cycle ends (effectively cancelling out her mana curve and giving them 2 turns worth of plays while she just watches and waits for a card to ramp/board-wipe), WHILST stealing your lands and creatures? In no universe was she bad, the lads just drew and got way too much value.
That was nice of you guys to invite Nerdgirl to watch y'all play magic
no one told her it was St Patricks Day
That was BRUTAL
I honestly felt really bad for her. Lol.
It was nice for Josh to come watch too lol. I found this episode extremely hilarious to watch.

Yarry well, if she had teferis protection. Lock out all options
Seemed like Globetrotting to quote the Commander VS guys. I originally thought Amaz's commander was weaker than Muldrotha. Now I'm not so sure. Certainly a reason to play no-ETB decks with Hushwing Gryff, Tocatli Honor Guard, and Torpor Orb.

We've all been in nerdgirls position she has my condolences
Too true. Tryna play a grumgully counters matter deck and my friend spends about 15 minutes on his turn with his Ur dragon deck and kills everyone in one turn. My board state was 3 mountains and 2 forests and Grum. 8 turns in.

@@Camexagon Really? My apologies then, I'm not all that familiar with the pro circuit and its players.
So josh didn’t put plains in his deck but he put wastes in
Me: *facepalms*
yeah honestly
He prioritized his kozolek over white
Zack Mabben yeah I thought about that about 2 weeks after commenting that
He had white sources, they were just trilands, etc. however, there are no trilands that produce colorless mana (unless you count the painlands) and so he needed to put at least 2 wastes in for hardcasting kozilek.
@@techoutsider5631 so he needed 2 searchable wastes to hardcast one card but not even a single searchable plains for his commanders ability

@@Totescolin its so true I think Josh start was scary but his threat assessment was way off as they destroyed his game leaving Amaz to win that game.
This is good but nerdgirl should be : I’m glad to be here( dies as signet is mana drained)
@@buttergod42 Omg Yes lol that was such a mean play by that Amaz made.
We want a less domineering set of decks or for Nerdgirl to bring a more domineering deck.
Also Mindslaver and extra turn cards should be OUTTA it. Extra turns aren't that bad but we saw them abused. Mindslaver is garbage.
And I like Amaz as a person, but he's not used to commander. Commander is LEAGUES less competitive than Limited. Tell him to tone the Scamazing and the overvaluing down whenever he plays
(or just don't build such overvalued decks;
he's a regular top 8 in competition, maybe overvaluing comes too easy)
Josh: Takes 2 extra turns
Also Josh: WHY CANT I PLAY MAGIC
In his defense the team up against him was pure overkill, and they let Yarok get out of control. Some very poor threat evaluation once Josh was handled.
He took two extra turns, then was forced to give them back later.
@@cloudyskiesnow Alchemy, It is the scientific technique of understanding the structure of matter, decomposing it, and then reconstructing it. If performed skillfully, it is even possible to create gold out of lead. However, as it is a science, there are some natural principles in place. Yeah, he played two extra turns then didnt get other two, so it's perfectly balanced
He took 2 extra turns, his opponents decided to have him lose 5 to 6 turns and shoot him in the spine while they were at it
I really feel like Jimmy needs to rewatch this episode and learn from his mistakes. Amaz had the most amazing turn after josh did but jimmy decided to slaver lock josh? Possibly the only person that could have stopped Amaz.
And seriously, bring MTGNerdgirl back for another episode where she can actually play magic.
She really doesn't deserve it she made a deck waaay too reliant on her commander
Abhrajit Dhar some decks are like that, have you seen moldrotha? What about yarok, all amaz did was have etb lands creatures and effects, look at jimmy, who’s commander literally needs a set up, and had amaz not had an explosive start, he would have run away with the game.
Well ofc bc they make intentional missplays for the episodes to be more fun to watch its kinda like wwe for magic
Honestly her downfall was trying to help and using her own cards to stop Josh instead of building her board. Sometimes when you're that far behind, you have to be more selfish and get yourself back in the game. Watch this game again and look at how many times she uses her turns and cards and none of it to to build her own board, only helping, that is what killed her
Agreed or he could have used josh to focus on amaz 🤦♂️ biggggg misplay
Man you can just see Josh slowly lose his mind as he sits there and watches his world burn down around him
Should definitely be an extra turns episodes with these decks so we can see nerd girl actually play
Seemed like an extra turns game to me!
@@randym5824 I see what you did there.

Yea, but she needs playable cards, not garbage like draw 4 for 5 mana or a Murmuring mystic
@@petrzitnik9494 It seems like they were on different power levels, maybe they didn't communicate well enough.
A prime example to show Game Knights are not staged. NerdGirl’s mana screw was so real.
She didn't even get Mana screwed that badly. The other three just ramped like craaaaaazy.
who said it was staged
@@twoneraps3352 A lot of people feel that way because some of these games are just *too* convenient on the answers and responses. Sure they're really good at Magic and deck building but we've all had games that were so obviously lopsided and you just hit a pocket of land or missed your drops. Iirc, that never happens in Game Knights. Maybe they play a few games and choose the best one, I'm not really sure.
But the staged criticism they receive is from there always being an answer to a game ending play, or the next turn being just as explosive to not let one person get too powerful.
@@Joshbobjovi oh I see
Tam Chu yeah idk why people think it is staged. They actually did a behind the scenes episode and it can be staged but they only re do things to make it look better on camera and such. Everything that happens is real.
Josh: playing a five color deck
Also josh: playing wastes
Also Also Josh: Plays no basic plains.
He probably put kozilek in or something
Matthew Wilson yeah he did say he had a bunch of hatemakers and eldrazi definitely do that
They showed that Jimmy made him discard a Kozilek when he had taken over his turn.
@@Wolfen5207 even so he had other lands to produce great, the wastes were unnecessary

SCAMAZED
MTG Nerd Girl needs a redemption invite back. Anything less is unacceptable.
Dude, for real, I know there were nice plays in this episode, but I felt bad all along because she basically couldn't play.
Its really her own fault. She even said she had cards but didnt want to play them because she wanted to wait. Then it was too late.
Same! She basically couldn't play anything because of mana drought it suuuuucked! It's one thing to lose because of your own fuck ups. It's another thing to lose when you can't EVEN fuck up, because you can't cast anything!
@@gordonross3270 but what she probably meant by that is that the cards wouldn't do much without the Commander out. So it was the right play.

Interesting choice to do an episode with only three players
Bit weird that they let amaz goldfish for two turns after he had won already.

Jimmy's power move of 25 Cards though...
This kind of stuff makes Jimmy probably my favourite player on Game Knights. He's always there for a nice, truly unexpectable turn, that won't necessarily be good but definitely surprise everyone

How ironic josh’s deck won the game. Well look at the prices go up
A soul for a soul
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
not at all, josh didn't just lose turns, he was actively sabotaged during those turns, not to mention that jimmy's obsession with sabotaging josh on his own turn blinded him to the play that could have saved him that turn.
No he made them wait two turns
They made him wait 6 and discard his hand and all his non land cards
In today's episode of Game Knights, Josh plays as Amaz who plays as Josh, meanwhile Jimmy also plays as Josh, then destroys his own life total and exiles his own deck. Oh, and MTGNerdGirl blows up a Necropotence.

Yup, pretty accurate
And exiles an avacyn
SPOILER
oh my god
Catching up on older GK episodes and honestly, this one is rough. Between all the extra turn and Mindslaver shenanigans, MTG Nerd Girl not getting to develop a board and Amaz going way overkill on her mana base at the end, the whole thing felt like a competition for who could generate the most salt at the table. Props to MTG Nerd Girl for taking her licks in good sport, but man this game would’ve been better if everyone had gotten more of a chance to play evenly.
Oh, we've all been there, MTGNerdGirl. You exhibited excellent sportsmanship. Great game!
*Amaz draws 16 cards, gains 16 life from landfall triggers*
Jimmy “screw youuuuu Josh!!”
Worst play of the game
Yeah, using Decimate only on Josh's stuff was clearly a wrong move. I don't get why he didn't at least target Tatyova and Guardian Project, instead of letting Amaz draw so much cards. Especially when he planned to keep the lock on Josh anyway. If you intend to use a player as a weapon, why weaken him so much?
If you pay attention, Jimmy is a true red mage. Sometimes he tunnel visions one target a bit too hard. Not trying to be mean Jimmy much love from a huge fan but it is detrimental to your overall success sometimes I feel. On the flipside of that it can happen to anyone, especially when a game is this bonkers. Amaz's deck was also pretty sneaky at times with the value it gave him because it would do a lot of small things that gave enormous rewards seemingly out of nowhere. I have a Yarok deck myself and I can tell you it quietly goes insane sometimes.
Bring NerdGirl back, she didnt even get to play.
BMUFFINSPINZ agreed
They actually bullied that poor girl. This is probably the worst I have ever felt watching a magic video

Sometimes, I rewatch this episode if I ever forget how terrifying Golos truly was in this format
That's what I'm saying bro. Yarok too 💀💀 kaykar and kethis are cool but golos and yarok are so overpowered
NerdGirl: “everyone’s playing good fair magic”
Josh: “Hold my beer”
Andrew Chugg
Jimmy: Hold my Mindslaver
@@GM-rs2fv Amaz: Okay, I think I will.
Feels like every game Josh brings some broken combo with literally any commander (even though he usually picks the most powerful one available)
Josh: I love not playing magic
Nerd girl: hold my beer
😄 👍
😂🍺
MTGNerdGirl I honestly thought that even if you had the worst game you had the best attitude towards everything
I love how everyone played their decks, oh, and also MTGNerdGirl was there
I felt so bad for Nerdgirl. She had no ramp, needed her commander and the moment she was poised to really get into the game, her commander got blown up and her lands stolen. Ouch!
Classic commander game. One person becomes the Arch enemy and everyone beats him up. But in doing so they get tunnel vision and don't notice that someone else has become the bigger threat. That person wins. This is 85% of all games of EDH.
Same thing with Munchkin
Goodthrust69 and there’s the one pour soul who’s mana screwed
@@lucasmilano9358 Fs in the chat for those poor fellas
And I wish I could play commander xd, I was playing with a friends pirate deck, and I was in a mana drought for a long time, and I lost-
Exactly seen when Jimmy targeted josh for too long
To me the big mistake was not "using" JLK to disrupt Amaz board state in every possible way and just simply sabotaging Josh. Amaz at that stage in the game was clearly a HUGE threat.
Agreed, it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble by doing so.
yeah absolutely if you have one player on a lock, it doesn't matter if you move him forward.
Indeed, I remember thinking at that point of the video that I would seriously consider taking control of Amaz's turn instead. Unfortunately, Jimmy absolutely destroyed Josh, fueled Amaz some more (Ryhstic Studies) and utterly disrupted any sort of power balance there was in the game.
exactly, Jimmy should have Mind Slaved him instead of Josh.
I disagree. I think mind slaving josh was fine. However he should have pointed most of if not all of josh's resources at amaz
"Always attack the strongest player", attacks Josh.
Jimmy: "What?????? I'm insulted!"
Josh: "Always has the board state / combos that makes everyone go 3 vs 1 on"
That's why, Jimmy. lol.
Really fun watching these episodes. I will say, Amaz reminds me of the kids when I was in high school who never understood why he did not have friends. I think Amaz is still trying to figure it out LOL! Good game though. Only one may stand as you guys say it.
Fr that was cringe to watch
So true god damn
Josh complaining that he didnt get to play magic.
Nerdgirl: ...
Zaylo to be fair, she got to take her turns and didn’t get Mindslaved...
It hits different when someone else prevents you from playing.
@@TheSilverSynchro they got the same number of turn played lol. that's what happen when you start taking extra turn, turn 6
@Kilgor4 Josh is hamming it up for the camera. He's not actually that self-unaware.
@@TheSilverSynchro But then again Josh took two extra turns at the beginning. Meaning Nerdgirl is the only one with the normal amount of turns.
everyone summoning their decks using a blood sacrifice and entering the darkest pits of hell to use its power
nerd girl: bird wizard! wooo
God I hope that's a loading ready run reference
@@r4diocr4b it is lmao
Another game where Jimmy tunnel visions Josh even though there is a much greater threat at the table
This is truly the most evil game of GK I think I have seen
Jimmy when all hope is lost: "how did we get here?"
Me, watching in disgust: "YOU did this Jimmy. You doomed everyone."
Iirc Jimmy has done something like this quite a few times. Makes you wonder if he's doing it intentionally.
Sometimes I wonder if he actually thinks before he acts. To many times he has thrown a game by having tunnel vision.
Darian Hair I think he plays that way - he stated many times that he is a red player, more impulsive
Filip Horvath I know a lot of red players that don’t constantly throw the game
FloppyTaco 6969 It’s more that he’s a player that embodies the traits of the color red than a player who plays red decks (though he does that too).
Props to Josh for not flipping the table
You could tell he was using all his self control to avoid it
I know he hates the idea of it, but I would've scooped out of the game when its apparently that I'd keep getting mind slaver'd. If I'm not participating, even if just minimally, then there's no point in playing
I would just pray for the sweet release of death if I was in Josh's position. On the other hand, if the other players were rude enough to drag out the game while continually taking my turns, then I would be rude back and scoop out of spite
in real life this game wouldn't have lasted this long. Everyone would have scooped as soon as Amaz got the mindslaver.
josh? he even played extra turns, the props should go to Nerdgirl
I love how at 39:02 Jimmy says "our hand"
So *this* is why they banned golos...
He scratches his face, he draws two cards. Sounds like an Un-set activated trigger.
Target player scratches your face: Draw a card
@@TabooX1984 can't have target in an activation cost. sry but i had to :D
@@natterbrot 👍 😀
I vote for a game knights episode where all the decks are built by Mitch from commanders quarters. 25 dollar limit.
Great idea, it would be really interesting to see how Josh and Jimmy built decks if they didn't have access to all their expensive staples. Restriction breeds creativity
I wanna see this too, cause even if they don't mean to, their decks seem far too expensive. 3 of the 4 in this game had original duals. That's almost a thousand right there. On a budget, the power levels are kinda stuck a bit lower. Things are crazier to pull off. I think it'll be more fun
To be fair, the dual lands are not the reason those decks went off that game. The raw ramping power with key sources of card advantage catalyzed by a couple of extra turns apiece did. I haven't run it back to check if all that would have happened a couple of turns more slowly with worse mana fixing, but I bet it wouldn't have affected how things played out.
Pretty nice idea would also bring in some lesser played that we dont see so often in those Episodes
Command Zone doesn't talk budget commander nearly enough. Most of us can't afford Doubling Season, Josh and Jimmy!
i got into MTG a few weeks ago after a friend showed me... i got a booster and got Yarok, i built my Commander around him... and hes so much fun
ATG_DDR nice! I don’t have him yet! I wish I could get him! I hope you have fun playing with your friends!
Nerd Girl back please so she could actually play Magic next time hahaha
That's was the most ruthless, bloodbath of a commander match I've seen on Game Knights!
And I loved it
Yup. A great many things that makes EDH unfun... but yet all those things arent banned but Paradox Engine is.. so very fucking weird.
Hope Nerd Girl comes back because she really had a bad time on this episode...
They all had bad times except Amaz
@@MathCraftpro4life123 Eh, Jimmy and Josh both had there, (albeit brief) moments in the sun.
Should have played green
As salty as I would have been playing against Amaz in this game, his excitement is contagious.
Three years late to comment but I'm just gonna lay this out there...
THIS. video. Was the one that pushed me to build my main deck for 3 and going 4 years. Yarok.
I fell in love with the value engine that Amaz did and I thought: "Hey. I want to do that." Which was kinda what I needed because I wanted to retire my Gishath deck, because I was being targeted for putting him out early
LITTLE did I know I would evolve yarok from being a etb value deck to a very cool highly tuned combo deck that can surprise even CEDH decks.
Just wanted to share that Yarok will always be my fave deck and I have only this video to thank.
dang, so you saw Amaz's cancerous deck and decided you wanted to do that too?
I guess it's true what people say... the biggest problem with commander is..... commander players
Bring back MTGNerdGirl, I felt sorry for her not really being able to do anything.
Good god, you guys must have the patience of saints. I was getting salty and I wasn't even at the table.
Same here.
Yep
Absolutely.
Right?! 😬
Especially NerdGirl, must be extremely frustrating to not draw any of your ramp and then even get some mana stuff stolen/blown up when you are on the show for the first time. I think that her deck (and the commander) is probably on the weaker side compared to the other stuff but she could still have done quite a lot I think.
Josh got his revenge with a death laser. Wow.
39:30 The foreshadowing!
I come back to watch this every now and again to watch the discipline on Amaz holding the force of will until Season's past.
Jimmy: “I’m gonna pay 25 life”
*he’s been watching too much cedh hasn’t he*
He paid that life and still managed to last a WHILE!
No amount of cEDH is enough cEDH!
Nah, mehn, it’s just his inner red player kicking in
I thought that was sarcasm when he said that
Lol
Josh palys 2 Extra Turn Spells on Turn 5, gets Mindlavered 2 times later... Oh Karma you sweet thing of justice
I keep coming back to this video and all I can think is, "Jimmy, that second Mindslaver..."
This game was BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm still learning about Magic, and I've only played in Arena, so only standard, "pauper", brawl and historic. And now I have learned that I LOVE commander! I love these interactions, and all the possibilities that a game of Magic can have.
I love Magic so much now.
Beautiful? 2 people had extra turns for days, 1 didn't even get to play AND got a signet mana drained, and the last guy was slightly unlikeable.
I liked it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
