    I wish I could have sent you guys some rain! We have a beef farm here in Southern Ontario and can't seem to get a week without rain which is making fall harvest almost impossible. It has been a very challenging year for sure. Love watching your video's and a big thank you for sharing :)

    maybe if you pull a tarp behind the baler you can catch some of that straw and every now and then put it back in the front to bale it up.

    Noticed when you started the video, while talking it was cold enough to see your breath! By the time you finished you were just wearing a t-shirt. Lol... Must have warmed up through the day. Love that kind of weather! 47° this a.m. in Missouri. But 73° by mid-afternoon. Love your videos Jan, good job.

    3 bales off 60 acres! That's some expensive straw. Probably cheaper to truck some straw from Ontario. Had people calling this summer asking if I wanted straw.

    Jeez Jan, 3 bales off 60 acres! How much do they work out each with labour, diesel, net wrap, wear n tare etc etc. Then you've got to do and collect them.

    Another excellent video, Jan. Looks like Kielstra is well on its way to milking 500 head especially with the selective heifer birthing. Will need a new bulk tank or a daily pickup. Fun times.

      Maybe try and find where it's dropping the straw from and see if you can put something on it to stop from losing the straw love your videos

      They send them to the livestock sales barn.

      Those particular cows are referred to as "udder failures" or "milk duds". They are sold for processing!

    You an awesome job with that dairy farm to be so young I can't understand though why your cows that are in the open pastor fields are corrals don't have a cover to get under with winter coming it doesn't make sense for them not to have a shelter can you explain God bless Sandra from south Mississippi loves you PS what is the name of your milk brand that y'all chipped to I would like to try some of your milk I love dairy milk

      I'm sure they'd love to have a shelter in each paddock, but building a roofed shelter costs money -- building anything costs a lot right now, given the price of materials. They do have shelters in 2 of the paddocks, They usually put the pregnant cows into those ones.

      I think McDonalds picks them up for free until they are 2 weeks old, after that they go to pet food

    When we bale really light hay, we have found that we can slow down rpms and speed up ground speed and cut some of the loss that way. It still stinks to cover so much ground for so little yield! Happy Farming!

    Cows that are being milked twice a day are in the inside….close to the milking parlor. All dry stock (those not producing milk) are housed outside. In the winter they put straw in the pens outside that creates its own heat pack that helps the cattle stay warm.

    Maybe chang ya feeding schedule to feeding the dry cows last, that way you guys can leave the second half in the feed mixer untill they emptied out their feedbunk enough. Saves you all the scooping it back into the mixer.
