American sports don't have national teams besides the odd Olympic excursion. World Cups, Euros, Copa America etc. give fans the chance to see different matches of the best stars around the world. And the International schedule fills up the "off season" so that now there are tasty competitive tournaments every summer with all kinds of star player on show. And as others have pointed out the top clubs in the world are all star games and that is what the champions league is about, especially the latter stages e.g. PSG v Real Madrid. As for American ingenuity in sports business, the Glazers leveraged buy out of MU was a great example of disaster capitalism.
I felt the same way about the idea of the midseason tournament in the NBA ⊠thought it sounded ridiculous. After seeing the initial outline for how it could play out, I think it seems like a solid idea. Point is ⊠people should not be so quick to shut new ideas down
Fine line between âbringing new ideas to the tableâ and talking complete and utter nonsense. Let's get this straight. This is just blatant greed by an owner disguised as innovative thinking. I'm sure there's a general consensus among the american community that all-star games for the likes of the NFL, NHL and NBA are the biggest waste of time that serve zero purpose whatsoever other than a blatant money grab.

First of all, there's only ONE division in the EPL so they'd have to do like the MLS and the rest of American sports and divide the UK table geographically. Second of all, America needs to stop meddling in European football. UEFAâs Article 48 ensures European national football associations have the right to prevent matches from being televised within a certain window, but only the English and Scottish FA's currently makes use of the option. The issue is compounded by the fact that at least one live Saturday 3pm Premier League match can be viewed in the vast majority of countries outside the UK.
This is so utterly disrespectful. I've lived in America and followed American sports, only to imagine a English man or a man coming from another country suggesting to change American sports to be more like other countries. We constantly letting in these American owner pretending with their money with no knowledge and appreciation for our game, and when they get in try to take advantage of clubs and the league.
I like US sports especially the NFL. What people here do not understand is that overall the NFL is a lot more competitive than the Premier League. The way its setup with the best draft players going to the worst teams and a proper salary cap means the league is much closer. You can have the Chiefs win the Super Bowl one year, Buccaneers the next and then the Rams the next. You really cannot predict it. Yes there have been times for example the Patriots won the SB many times but that does not happen often. Who will the prem this season and next season? City most likely and maybe Liverpool. Thats it. The top 6 is always the same in the prem and always will be. I think the prem has improved in this slowly and espcially compared to la liga/bundesilga with revenue much better shared out. Im not saying we remove relegation or anything but some of his ideas are pretty good and just thrown away with no thought by people here just because "thats the way we've always done it" and he's "American". Ive said for 20 years we need a proper salary/transfer cap in place to make leagues more competitive. Will it change probably not because of the ignornace and pride of many.
Your proving his point though, American sports is an entertainment business Drafts salary caps, all star games and lots of commercials prove this, itâs about gimmicks Americans love parity because itâs great entertainment where everyone is equal If you finish last you get rewarded with first overall draft pick You essentially reward mediocrity came last here draft lebron Why msny teams tank half through the season

Remember a US reporter ask a player just join MLS, how he can get his team to qualify for world Cup.
Its pretty clear why Tuchel and BowlingBall didnt get along.
Did TT oppose this idea which would add more games 9nto him and so he got fired on the excuse that they don't share the vision?
Yes mate. letâs go all the way, cheerleaders, half-time show, the lot.
The same way that the English make foreigners very much appraised to their culture and way of life is what the FA and premier league should do to potential foreign buyers of English clubs. Give them a lesson in what football means in Europe, a lil history so to speak so they don't go all wild with their ideas. It is sad tho that all the top teams in England are not owned by a single English man
Spurs are English owned..Owning football clubs is a fools game and Brits know this. The UK is way too inclusive imo, it allows too much foreign investment in the city of London and the premier league and then they act all surprised when a super league happens eight under their noses. There needs to be a cap on the allowed amount of owners from one country or they will create a cartel like the Americans have already done. These arenât just regular Americans either, theyâre venture capitalists. The worst kind of American..
The all-star is an interesting idea, but only if we talk about leagues. Maybe an all-star team from the Prem vs all-star from Spain, and so on
You mean champions league football
Yeah, I think this is a better idea. Best 11 plus subs from each league face off in a mini tournament. Winner gets to host the champions league final or something like that.

Well, get used to it. If you sell all your traditional clubs to foreign investors then it is that what you will get. Good luck EPL!
Unfortunately these Americans have the money one day they'll get their way
American sports don't have national teams besides the odd Olympic excursion.

Fine line between âbringing new ideas to the tableâ and talking complete and utter nonsense.
Let's get this straight. This is just blatant greed by an owner disguised as innovative thinking. I'm sure there's a general consensus among the american community that all-star games for the likes of the NFL, NHL and NBA are the biggest waste of time that serve zero purpose whatsoever other than a
blatant money grab.

Craig & Jules are 100% right. Don't need any suggestions from American sports. What's next? Let's play 4-4-3 & bring cheerleaders in as well. đ
And this is why the rest of the world doesn't take America seriously when it comes to football.
America doesnât mind, theyâre richer and more successful than everyone else.
The rest of the world runs the sport incompetently, Europe specifically. Club after club in financial disarray, no competitive balance, and violence growing among fans. Craig's bufoonish display, with relegation having nothing whatsoever to do with an All-Star game, is proof that the rest of the world can't think on this sport critically.

@@81jizz exactly. No one on this panel have any clue about American sports (and Craig lives there) yet are very quick to bash it. The prem has some quality football but is very stale when it comes to overall competition. I can already name who will be in the top 6 because its the same every year.

@@magicaces13 Mr. Boehly can't start giving suggestions about how the Premier League should be run when he's only just arrived there.
It shows a lack of appreciation for cultural differences.
First of all, there's only ONE division in the EPL so they'd have to do like the MLS and the rest of American sports and divide the UK table geographically. Second of all, America needs to stop meddling in European football. I'm kinda/sorta behind the Ryan Reynolds Wrexham thing because they seem genuine but for the most part they oughta limit foreign ownership. yep. i agree. MLB has the highest ratings for all star games and it's at 4.5 million. That's pathetic relatively. Yet they continue to keep showing them.
We used to have exhibition matches like World All Stars Vs Euro All Stars back in the 90s but it was more like a friendly. At the time when matches numbers weren't as much as today.
An all stars friendly match in the middle of season just don't make sense anymore today. Plus it opens to lots of possible injuries that no clubs want.

I would prefer a british cup every year or two, even if the english league is much bigger than scottish one etc as a casual, it would be fun to see
I like US sports especially the NFL.
