This 👏🏽👏🏽
@@mycoshe Palace says hi!
Ah yes, so a 90mins game shall last 4hours :D
It already doesn’t work in America! No one watches and players don’t want to risk injuries…they’re pointless! Hargreaves is right
The NBA all star game is extremely successful and raises hundreds of thousands for charity while also providing a massive showcase event that keeps fans interested in a long and monotonous regular season. I think people should be more open to the idea, especially if it is implemented in the way Boehly intends, in aid of the footballing pyramid. It would be way more engaging than the community shield which again, is absolutely pointless. Any argument against injuries in an all star games can also be said against the community shield or international friendliest. Commercially, it makes a lot of sense and as fans, I’m sure we would all tune in regardless.
@@karthiks3443 agreed, and whatever critics have to say is all based on all the challenges that have to be solved to have the first all star game. pretty sure the first NBA all star game also required many years to set up and plan for. and with regards to rival fans not wanting to see players play on the same team, pretty sure both boston fans and lakers fans would pay to see larry bird and magic on the same team
How about this ;;; England AllStar vs Non England AllStar
@@karthiks3443 Why did they change the format on Sunday to make it fun to watch for fans? Players were shooting 3s and playing with no defense.
@@-LAH Nah there's definitely a pretty wide audience for it especially younger fans, and some of the games are really exciting especially the endings (ASG 2020, 2021). I guess for basketball it definitely works better though since the sport can be played more individually compared to football. I wouldn't mind an allstar game with modified rules (like NBA did since 2020) or maybe not a full length game (maybe futsal instead so players can defend less and skill more since that's what fans want to see)
Why are we even entertaining the idea 😭
I would never in a million years want any of my players to play with my rivals in a silly little all star game just to load more millions into these billionaire owners
Dude most of them play together when they play for their national teams!!
No sense your comment
@@4tchilling956 DUDE
@@4tchilling956 yep your right for the NATIONAL TEAM. Meaning they are representing their country not a stupid All Star game which is completely pointless.
Please never compare All Star to the national team like it’s any way comparable to the World Cup or euros smh
@@brooks4365 I didn’t compare all stars with national games!!
@@4tchilling956 Never EVER compare playing for your national team and your club team in the same sentence. They are two completely different things. Its like comparing amateur athletes to the Olympics.
If it's at the end of the season, 1 match for charity then i'm all for it, don't see it being a problem
Of course there's a agenda to kill of all small clubs - Not saying it's this but clearly football is being streamlined and the fans will support players and not teams in the future.
@Jamie Leach why wouldn’t it be?
@@louisw466 it’s said to be for the teams in the championship & under & I’m sure that’ll be after the teams profit.
Would people wanna see that at the end of a season though? Feel like that would be better in the summer or before the season starts.
What the British do for charity the Americans do to make profit. That's the difference between us & them.
I don't particularly want it, but I don't have an issue with Boehly suggesting it. Better than most owners, at least he's speaking up and telling people what he thinks, sick of the protected, guarded oligarchs and billionaires.
premier league, champions legue, fa cup, community sheild, nations league. euro, world cup AND all star games ? and sometimes clubs do individual cups i.e emirates/ audi cup imo in order for this to happen at least 2-3 of those need to go but I think it would be a fun additon. The game has changed and times have changed.

Replace community shield with All Star week
NBA teams play every 1-2 days and travel accross America
@@yash8842 Community shield is a week before prem league starts, doubt managers would want their star players away from the team risking injury and missing training before the start of the season.
Yeh can replace community shield. Noone follows that and an all star game will get far better viewership
Just a question: do fans actually dislike the idea of an all star game, or do they actually like the idea but are just worried as to what other changes in football this could lead to?
Both! It’s a terrible idea because what supporters want to see their players teaming up with their bitter rivals (unless it’s the national team and even that is a stretch sometimes). Also, it seems like a slippery slope to me… it starts with a so-called “harmless” all-star game and probably ends with something akin to the super league. If Boehly and the Premier League really wanted to share more wealth with the football pyramid, then he/they could do that tomorrow, he doesn’t need an all-star game to accomplish that.
American fans don’t like them! The viewing figures are awful and players play at half speed to avoid injuries
The purpose of sport is to compete. The "competitve" nature of these games is non-existent because no one wants to get injured. BTW, these things exist already, and they're called testimonials.
Probably worried for injuries, therefore the players wont play nearly at their best.
Mainly the 2nd one
Why is this even up for debate???
Agreed totally why is this up for debate?
More money and entertainment for football pyramid.
Well anyway it’s not going to happen so let’s move on
The last two years here in America we have done an all star game between MLS and Liga MX, along with a skills competition the night before. It ends up being pretty entertaining. Since USA and Mexico have a big rivalry some of the intensity carries over a little as well.
Yeah... We have the champions leagues!
How is this even a consideration. Stop trying to Americanise the game. Might as well have timeouts
American owners are a nonsense, what's worse is having Rio trying to hype this stupid idea up
How Rio gets paid to be on TV 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Everything out of his mouth is utter dog 💩
Not once ever head him say anything worth listening too.
Rio must be kidding himself. Doubt a game would generate that much as it would be a glorified friendly - no one making tackles or real effort for fear of injury. There’s plenty of money in the game anyway, enough to go round and it doesn’t go down the pyramid, why would a penny from this match go?
There is an unprecedented amount of money in football at the moment - an obscene amount considering the state of the rest of society - the only reason that the lower levels of the pyramid are struggling is because of the hoarding and greed of those few at the top.
If they didn't caught his tweet, he would have pretended to hate it.
@@kingsley3208 oh, so like society then? 🤣
Well it would be pretty easy to implement. Instead of Prem teams flying halfway round the world to Asia or US to play meaningless pre season friendlies (especially against other Prem teams, just screams greed), why not use that massively saved space on the calendar by playing a one off game for charity? It's not the worst idea ever.
Any money that would trickle down the pyramid would be pennies. The top dogs would still get the bulk of the money like they do anyway.
Non competitive football, international Friendlies and such are the bane of my football watching life. Why would I want to watch another inconsequential cash grab. To me this is aimed at the American audience to try and get them interested, it's not for the people that already spend their life watching football. I'd prefer it not to happen unless it takes the place of some other pointless match
I couldn't take the game seriously because I know the players are not playing hard. City vs Liverpool is enough of an all-star game for me.
thats the point there soooo many useless friendlies this allstar game is more intresting than all these friendlies
@@arsenalfan5203 I would prefer to watch my club play a friendly than watch and all star game but that's why I said it clearly isn't for me
How about this ;;; England AllStar vs Non England AllStar
I think it’s a good idea if it’s held in preseason. Teams hold tournaments and tours all the time in preseason. Plus the community shield exists. If the PL holds an all star game, give players cash bonuses and medals, with a POTM. It’s not like the profit goes to the clubs- it goes to struggling clubs in the lower divisions of football and shared with teams that would need the money within the football pyramid. It would be like the community shield but with the money being generated for a better cause.
Football should also be played in thirds or quarters to drive up the ad revenue and social media reach of the presenters.
Half time shows that are 2 hours long and turn the pitch into a quagmire mid winter.
Then we can consolidate the numerous teams in each city so we can have the Merseyside Purples v the Manchester Mauves or the London Lions v Birmingham Bulls for example.
No relegation should also come in.
It isn't needed, the core audience isn't clamouring for it. The new to football crowd is, but it's debatable how long they'll be around if that's the sort of entertainment they want.
Agreed, but I think the half time shows should be longer if I’m being completely honest.
Maybe they should include a movie or something in between
@@jibrilmohamed9422 + a live concert every time before a kick off
If the money goes to the rest of the football pyramid and it takes place in preseason it’d be really good for the financial safety of clubs throughout the system. Not wanting something that could mean so much for smaller clubs because it’s different and originated in America isn’t right.
All Star matches with old retired legends would be great lol but we do have a couple of those types of matches now and then
The issue with this Rio, it's not like the Premier League is strapped for cash, searching for money to send down the pyramid. They have the money to send down, they just don't want to.
An all-star game has next to no appeal to an English audience, so do it in America, fine. But then none of that money would go to English football.
That's without mentioning that this game would have to eat into players' 2-3 week holiday and no sensible player or club would want to do that
Do they even get say? I bet they’ll probably get bonuses anyway
@@007Fusiion the players are in a union so they could just strike against it, or what's more likely is that they fake an injury
How about suggesting to American franchises the possibility of Relegation ?
Yeah, good idea. How about keeping the clock running
Their leagues would be worse off for it, like English football would be with an additional all star game
Would need more teams to make it work but yeah, would love that
This is a good idea for international fans from India China Africa as it's just another game to watch on the internet but for British fans this everything we despise. Football for us is more than a game it's our towns and heritage against one another, it's our fans traveling up and down the country and spending the and all these ideas only benefit foreign fans not domestic
For a charity game between seasons sure. Don't see why not. We already have them for retired players. One with actual active footballers would be way better to watch and also generate a lot more revenue for charity or just for the League system in general.
Like OH says, it won't be serious for the players - it will be like the Sport Relief game they have - these players playing for top honours for club and country aren't gonna care about some all-star game!
BUT if it still works as a charity match that raises money for a worthy cause then if possible do it.
People talk about Saudi and Qatari owners but it’s American owners who need to be stopped
why
sky is an american company, so they back american owners and there ideas.
@@relentless1989 Well Sky is a British company that’s owned by Comcast that’s American.
@@relentless1989 What if an English person bought an NFL team and suggested relegation for the worst team or rule changes to make it less boring. I'm sure they would react even worse.
Its an great idea for every league below the prem i think but the prem teams schedule would just create injuries to the world stars as the internationals are tough enough .. but the lower leagues have great talent especially future talent just think how some players could show there potential playing with other good players as im sure there are so many lads that go hidden undar the radar stuck average talent .
Swap it with the community shield and it will be good👍
Isn't that what the community shield is in actual fact. It's the All Star of English Football
@@hondaeownerreviews8608 that’s not an all star
The community shield is a charity match though so they can’t get rid of it.
I love the Community Shield. It gets me excited for the upcoming Premier League season.
@@aaaabbbb2483 they can make the all star game for charity
The NBA has the Three Point Competition and the Slam Dunk competition
I'd enjoy Ronaldo having to kick a ball though a moving target for no reason
And those competitions have become a joke over the years in how poor they are. Long way from Vince Carter’s 360 dunk, Zack LaVine-Aaron Gordon battle, MJ of course.
Rio really loves them rich businessmans lol....remember when he defended mike ashley ....
Would be nice to see.
Would love to see a 5 a side game, like fifa Street.
Exactly, doesn't need to be anything more than this, keep it casual, raise some money for charity, see some skill moves, thats all.
The pyramid of football was a trigger. He doesn't care less about it, his view like all owners is money in his pocket.
I’d love to see it it’s about finding the right time and the players being up for it
If it helps clubs (at the level of 100m plus) such as the Bury FC's / almost Derby County's of this world and really historic clubs way down the pyramid (Notts County/Maidenhead United/York/Altrincham/etc), then I say scrap the Charity/Community Shield and do it then.
What we need is that Goalie war... Back-up keepers need that competition too 😂😂😂
I think it shouldnt be north vs south first of all that would just increase the social divide between the 2 parts of England 2nd of all the future could change everything like right now the 2 best clubs in the last couple of Seasons have been both northern Liverpool City however give it like 50 years they could be way worse and london clubs take over but if the top 4 teams are all london based south vs north becomes pointless I also think the north team one year would be practically the same as the one before as no teams change except promoted teams but how many of their players make the teams anyway
I believe it should be done based on every teams placing in the league so 1 team is a mix of 1st 3rd 5th and all the odd numbered teams while the other is the evens this also makes it so that both teams have even amount of teams each 10 and 10 where as north and south doesnt and changes with promotion and relegation i also think it should be a maximum of 3 players from each team and a minium of 1 from each team available with a max of 25 players I also think the proceeds should go to charity and it should be substituted for the community shield as the commmunity shield only has 2 teams in it and mostly only brings in their fans
Not going to work.
No thanks. All star games never live up to the hype. Aside from that, we already have all star games. It’s called the World Cup, the euros, champions league.
It would be apt in the tourist league. No league with real rivalries are sending players off to play in the same team as their fierce rivals.
National teams.
Who’s gunna tell this guy about internationals
The national team argument isn’t a valid one. That’s primarily players who’ve come through youth ranks and have a bond before team rivalry kicks in. That and the EPL is a very diverse league so it’s primarily asking rival players to be all buddy buddy for a friendly. It’s tinpot.
It’s 2022 and ur pretending fierce rivals exist loool, rivals Saka and Kane are besties in England’s squad
What should Spain do when it is time to call up Barcelona and Real Madrid players
This is indicative of ownership mentality - drive revenue no matter what. Fans of football in Europe will 100% continue to hate and rubbish this idea, because at the heart of it is not entertainment, its a pure money grab that benefits nobody but the shareholders pockets.
I think he understood that he spent 250 million in Chelsea and no way it's coming back unless they win something big (which is impossible) so he figured a way to make quick cash using a top 6 club.
He literally said it's for the pyramid
Nice head canon
@@mus-abumama It's a lie!
Is BT US owned? Feels like it.
South Ghana owned
No
They could just increase the money they give to the pyramid don’t need to do the game / game wouldn’t be start of season as clubs want players for preseason and was of season internationals so the all star game would just be the non stars who not internationals - plus know way that type of games makes that much money as not as popular as league games so maybe sell our Wembley but tv rights be nothing in comparison to prem league
What if the all star games was held after the fa cup and have the all star games on years where there is no world cup or euros , the decisions on who makes the team will be decided nearing the end of the season, the money can go to the English football pyramid and also charitable foundations chosen by the captains it's not a bad idea if don't just think that footballers must be rivals on and off the pitch anyways football players already hang out with each other on holidays, I'm not even suggesting that the All Star Games should be during the season like the NBA but played after the FA Cup or if there is any English team playing in the Champions League Final and again its up to the players and the coach to decide how many minutes a player plays, so yah why not have it there is harm in trying at least once in prems history, SPORT AND FOOTBALL ITSELF IS A GLOBAL
They should do the all-star game, the prize would be that the team from the winning conference gets home field advantage during the postseason playoffs. But not at the Soccer Bowl which would be played at a neutral venue somewhere in the World, most likely in the US or Middle-East. The world is changing and soccer has to change too otherwise it will be left behind.
They should do North vs South, with players actually from the area. Then it would be semi competitive.
Manchester, Liverpool, London, Midlands, North-East would all have decent teams, without needing a winger from Egypt, a striker from Portugal and a goalkeeper from Brazil under the guise of 'North' & 'South'
Here are mine
Players from the Midlands will go in random teams
North - Pickford, Trent, Stones, Maguire, Trippier, Phillips, Henderson, Grealish, Foden, Rashford, Calvert-Lewin
South - Pope, James, Mings, Tomori, Chilwell, Rice, Mount, Maddison, Sancho, Sterling, Kane
As if we don't have enough fixtures already, a pointless game that goes against rivalries, why would I want to see my Liverpool players alongside United players??
henderson plays with maguire. oh the horror
There is no way I as a Utd supporter would want my players playing with scousers on the same pitch. The players would not want it either. Absolutely ridiculously concept..
"Change" is not always the better choice, just look at how perfect VAR has been implemented. Now, follow the money, because that's what this is really about, as always unfortunately!
I think it's a brilliant idea. But instead of just PL it should be an All-star of PL vs the All- Star of La Liga etc (league vs league)... Or All star BPL & Ligue 1 & Bundesliga vs Serie A & La Liga & another European league. Now that my friends would interest everyone and could happen during the winter break. Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe and Neymar all on the same team vs Lewandoski, Benzema, Vini Jr
Winter break? England don't have winter break.
English clubs with american owners, now all star game, what's next?
They would abolish offside and make goal bigger for scoring many goals. This is the yanks desire
Absolute rubbish concept, needs to be thrown in the 🗑 ASAP..
The MLS and Liga MX all-star games are pretty good and get decent attention.
I hate that there right! It's not realistic but would be so fun to watch
how do we make a new one too. football match, American Owner vs European Owner.. definitely exciting..
We want to see the best. So the All-star game can be played a week after the champions league final, so we get proper finals unlike some we had ..
I like the NBA but what works for the NBA doesn’t work for the game. Simple as.
Scrap cup replays and have a england vs prem rest of the world all star game. Saves games overall and the profits going down the football pyramid if done correctly would be more beneficial than that recieved from cup replays for these teams. Also another competitive game for an england team to try out new systems that isn't important. This cannot happen world cup years though.
No just no
People are hating on it but it would be pretty fun lmao, however, the football schedule is wayyyy too stacked and would need to be cut down (which maybe they should already tbh)
Not really. Players would want to avoid getting injured therefore aren't assed if they play well.
_Players, Managers, Coaches, Refs, Chefs & Bus Drivers:_ "There are far too many games already we hardly get a chance to train"
_Pundits:_ "wE neEd aN aLL-stAR gAmE!"
We already have legends games once in a while. Like Man united legends v Liverpool legends charity games
We've already done this. I've seen BRA Ronaldo play in a world 11 with some exceptional players.
This type of thing isn't new
Is like i will start watching a bit of boxing or any mma stuff in other to get used to it nd enjoy.....cuz i don't think football as I know it will be the same in the next 5 years
replace community shield with all star charity game. maybe a whole 3 day event with rising stars (u20?) and stuff like that
Majority of people, when they heard the statements from Todd Boehly, didn’t take too lightly to them and many have called it disrespectful in many ways, but now everyone in the media is talking about it and giving this conversation more light than it needs and deserves.
It’s a good idea to raise money for the lower clubs. No reason why it can’t be held the same weekend as the Community Shield.
They could do this as a charity match on a non euro/wc year in the summer break but thats about it.
A struggling team would only need to look at his opponents and want their players on his team to make money for their club.
For me the international competitions do this for me & we have enough things like soccer aid to get the other aspect of it. This ain’t it
This is something that should have happened long time ago lol. Two most voted PFA players are captains, let them sit and choose their teams. They get to select from players who got the most votes through premier league app or like the FPL. UEFA will do this soon anyway if the PL don’t.
Rumour has that todd boehly is also introducing shoulder pads into the league.
The thought of the money going down to those who need it most is brilliant. but at the same time, a preposterous notion. owners are owners.
Let's be real. People don't hate it because it's "bad" they hate it because it's American. I'm not American nor European but I can confirm people only hate it just to hate it. Yes there are pros and cons to this match but I can argue that same argument for most charity matches in football such as carlos/ronaldihno or community shield yet no one complains because those weren't American ideas to begin with. Listen I don't think this all star game is necessary but I won't write it off just because it's American.
There should be all star games between leagues like pl and laliga
Hey Rio, let’s play 4-4-3!
I think it would be different
Play it in preseason and give all ticket money to charity
Well said Rio
It's gonna be £20 PPV, money making nonsense
Can’t lie, I want to see it. It’s one game, chill out. 😂😂
Would rather watch own PL owners play football!!!! Or mangers
Yeah let's have the Premier League Draft instead of transfer deadline day!
Cheerleaders, marching bands and doing a MK Dons relocating clubs!
Just no!
Our sport our way!
5 a side or 7s is the way to do it and have rolling subs
I love how people shut things down without a better idea of getting more money for the lower leagues
The only way I’d ever have interest in an idea like this would be if it was genuinely north v south, ie people that spent the majority of their lives up to 18 growing up on either side of that divide in England - that way there’d be genuine pride at stake and players and fans alike would be invested in the outcome, otherwise it’s just a bunch of mercenaries running around for whom that cultural divide means nothing
Can’t believe this a serious conversation. We do not want to be Americanised.
If this were to go through, I feel like preseason might be the best time to put it, possibly a few days before the community shield. They’ll play at a preseason friendly pace anyway so may as well have it then.
I think we all agree would fun for charoty like those other games not as a league or sm sht, next youll have belly dancers at first quarter
Also want Halftime show with American celebs!
Simply put.
No
I watch a lot of NFL but I haven't watched an all star game in at least 10 years, they're boring and low quality games.
"Sustainable Model" means Americanization of the Premier league.
Make it England and France v Spain and Italy and now we have a real challenge
Team of the season tournament will be better.
The EPL team of the season vs La Liga team of the season
All of this Came from the Inspiration of Basketball 🤷🏾♂️💯
This isnt a new idea. Weve had many europe vs rest of the world matches in the past
Here's an alternative idea:
One for-charity game in the summer.
10 a side, one player from each Prem team.
Sides are picked based on Prem teams rivalries and balanced for fairness.
Players could choose if they want to participate.
The manager for this one game can choose players from the pool of players who are willing to participate but keeping to one player from each Prem team.
The managers would probably be retired managers such as Alex Ferguson etc
Also the subs could be from the Championship
Clown didn’t want him ruining my club just another American cheeseball with ludacris ideas.
Replace the community Shield with an all star game. PFA team of the year from the previous season vs a North-South best 11 who didn't make toty. More people will watch that than community Shield and it'll make more money than it
Complain about injury risk
Play unimportant community shield and internasional friendlies
Let's go over to America and tell them what to do! How about relegation ?
Should the premier league have an All-Star game: No, we already have too many games
How about all players have to wear a helmet when playing.
😂
Focus on getting chelsea challenging man city
If they want to implement such match why don't they just do it during pre-seasons then only broadcast it to American audience and let the American audiences pay the teams to do it so we don't have to
Football n not soccer have real rivalries no one wants to watch debruyne playing triangle passes with Bruno setting up haaland … Shot me does it mean there is a day I am backing Saka to win a match 😑😑😑
It’s called internationals…
