    0:00 Intro
0:05 1998 Chevrolet 3500 Dually. Luckily for the customer, they didn't get into a bad accident or caused even more damage when the tread came off of the passenger front steer tire. Even if a vehicle has barely any mileage on the tires, but they're old they should be replaced! There is a production date on tires (DOT) that tell you the age of each tire. More info here -
    www.blackcircles.ca/en/faq/ti...
0:22 The technician didn't mention what caused this exact issue but thought it was funny to show as it sound like a Helicopter. This is common to see on some Pontiac models, but the first time I've seen it on a Jeep.
0:35 The technician found a rat in the vent. He said he was surprised the customer apparently didn't see it.
0:46 The technician said: "They installed the coil overs the wrong way and bent the sway bar links, the one I’m holding in my hand is how they’re supposed to look."
1:01 If you're wondering what a strut bar is - "The strut bar serves to add rigidity to the car suspension so when the car is taking a turn there will be pressure on the road surface. The strut bar will maintain pressure on both sides of the car so that it becomes more balanced."
The technician was unsure why the customer removed it but was even more surprised they didn't bother getting new nuts for the struts to hold them in place.
1:17 Ford Ranger. The technician said: "Customer came in for unrelated issue, I went to go pull the vehicle into the shop and noticed the gas pedal felt odd and that the vehicle was not accelerating. I then realized the gas pedal was broken off of the mount and had to physically reach my hand down to pull the gas pedal in order to pull the vehicle into the bay."
1:30 The technician notified the company and told them they should scrap the truck. Wasn't told anything else.
1:46 The technician said he has no clue what the customer used to paint the front bumper.
1:57 Check your owner's manual for the correct torque spec. and always torque your tires afterward. Could have been a lot worse for this customer.
2:07 The technician also said the interior of this 2013 Chevrolet Cruze was also very dirty and filled with garbage.
    2:21 No extra info.
2:29 That's a wheel weight that you see moving on the rim. Wheel weights shouldn't move once they're installed and that's why the customer still has a vibration in the rear.
2:37 As you can see the truck need's a lot more work from the looks of it as there is an oil leak as well. No extra info.
2:47 The viewer who sent this in said: "Tulsa, Oklahoma
We were on I-44 if I remember correctly."

Mechanical issues are for mechanics and people that can afford mechanical issues. People think they can buy a car and grape drive it and repair it. Their idea of mechanical fiscal responsibility is around 300 dollars a year. Let alone they think tires last forever! Seriously...most people don't know how to change oil, yet their preppy college degree says they can diagnose your mental condition and have you locked up for being crazy.....probably a drastic comparison, but it's probably fine 🙂

Back in 2017 I got my car serviced and the mechanic said the rear tyres needed to be replaced because the side walls were cracking although there was plenty of tread left. A friend of mine pointed out that the company that made the tyres went out of business in 1982!

In recent times I have discovered that about 15 years are the maximum for modern tires. My mother had 15 year old tires on her Buick, they had plenty of tread, looked fine, but cracked open like plastic. My sister had a Beemer that again, had decent tread, no visible problems but the tires were at least 15 years old and had two blowouts in one month. So I try to replace all 4 at least every 10 years, I never have tire problems. There’s nothing quite like the feel of 4 brand new tires on your car!

Took my truck to a tire shop for a flat and they said to replace the old tires because they were bad. I let them replace them but kept one on a spare rim I had as a spare. I had it in the bed of my truck for about a week.I came out one afternoon and saw the tread had completely separated from the tire just like in the video. Glad I switched them out when I did!

Tires degrade quickly when left sitting. When I got my drivers license I was allowed to drive a small French subcompact my father had used for going to the workplace. The car was bought in 1997, and left sitting in the garage from 2000 tp 2005 when I picked it up.
Within six months the tires were replaced because the thread disappeared. The car only weighed 650kg, but it was like having a cheese grater applied to the wheels. You could see the difference in thread depth if you travelled 100km.

I worked at a major chain retailer in the automotive department. One day a guy came in because one of the new tires he bought blew out. He bought the tires in another city about 300 miles away and was traveling on vacation. We went to look at the vehicle and discovered that it was an RV. The guy bought car tires and had them installed on the RV. A lot of drama ensued because for safety reasons we could not let him leave the store with the remaining tires. Plus he refused to pay for truck tires to replace the car tires. Our manager was also in contact with the other store to understand why their people installed car tires on the RV. A lot of people were involved in trying to find a solution to the problem. My shift was over and I left before finding out how it was resolved. For those who don't understand tires, you can't install car tires on an RV because car tires are manufactured for a specific weight application. RV's are much heavier and need truck or commercial grade tires due to the heavy load and heat produced over long distances.

Yeah my mechanic's crudbucket loaner car tossed its fanbelt as I was heading back to his shop to pick up my Chevette and when I called him, his tow guy wasn't available and he trusted me to keep an eye on the temperature and pull over and let it cool off every time it started getting too toasty... was bitterly cold that day and cooled off pretty quick and was probably still faster than waiting for another tow operator, and it wasn't MY vehicle I was risking... then again I drove the Chevette home once when it started acting weird about 5 km from home... and got home to find it'd thrown up oil into its air cleaner (pcv valve, I think, cleaned and changed it all, never happened again) and I know that the impending doom warning light for a chevette when you're driving only on the battery cause your alternator cacked is when the seatbelt light comes on, had it happen with two different chevettes. I think it's when there's not enough left in the system to keep the solenoid open! The more you know... the more interesting the mistakes you can make...

I retorqued them some 50 to 100 km later as required and haven't lost any wheels after some 3,000 km of near flawless vacation driving (had to add a quart of oil during the trip -- Fiat 500 Abarths running in Sport mode get very thirsty).

I'm retired now but, when I was still wrenching, I had plenty of customers try to drive their rig to the shop rather than have it towed. Pretty much always the same reason of "Tow bills are expensive". And pretty much all the time, the repairs needed from damage caused by trying to drive it in were far higher than any tow bill would have been. My experience has been: people with at least some money will tow their rig in. Where-as people who are poor drive it til it breaks, then drives it some more, then try to limp it to the shop. People with money get their rigs fixed right away (in general) when the bill is low. People without money wait until the damage is so bad the repairs cost more than the rig is worth. That's how people with at least some money (and wealthier folks) keep more of their money. They take care of crap right away while the problem is small and manageable. Poor people let everything in their life snowball into chaos.

AH. The last clip. I admit, I've been there. Well, not on the highway for 9 miles! My daily driver had a flat and I had no jack. A friend of mine was going to let me borrow his, but his wife had the truck in town. So I took off in my old Chevy Blazer that hadn't been inspected, insured or registered on the road in well over 2 years. I got the jack and headed home before a random county-mountie came through. A half mile from the house and BLAM! BANG! CRUNCH! The front end bounced and dropped on the drivers side, there was a rumble and some substantial thumps and bangs, and the ass-end went up in the air for a split second. Wondering WTF I just ran over, I looked in the mirror and saw not only my left front wheel tumbling behind me, but the hub, brake disc, caliper and half-shaft as well! It all just ripped right out of the ball-joints. Somehow the steering rack didn't get obliterated. The end just snapped off. Otherwise it was all still attached to each other, just bouncing along behind me.. Now I was REALLY worried about being stuck there and a cop coming by. So I stopped, picked up the thing, threw it in the back, and went on my merry way home. The old man who lived just down the road saw me as I went by and waved. He just gave me a nod, and went about his business unfazed. Out here in the backwoods, rural parts near the PA/WV state line, and Ohio within spitting distance, you tend to see some janky shit. A un-registered Blazer going down the road with 3 wheels and sparks flying out of the drivers-side fender was nothing to write home about. Just another day out here in the sticks...

Usually people who park in garages that clean their floors with acid based degreaser. The acid cleans the blacktop but sometimes excess fumes continue to rise from the ground long afterwards. The acid fumes condense on the cold underside of he frames of the cars and degrades them extremely quickly, and many people don't even realize. Out of sight, out of mind. To prevent this make sure you check with parking attendants to see when and with what chemicals they degrease their lots with. Rule of thumb, if the lot is dirty it's probably safe, but if it's unusually clean - that's the time to start asking questions.

While I’m not condoning this, removing the nuts on the struts in the Civic is not actually as dangerous as it seems. The only purpose of those nuts is keep the struts from dropping if the vehicle leaves the ground. Otherwise the weight of the vehicle is always there and holds the struts in place. Aside from maybe a clunk over big bumps, I’ll bet it was completely unnoticeable that the nuts weren’t there until they lifted the car off the ground. Stupid yes, but not as dangerous as it may seem.

Kind of similar story, but not really. The front struts on the MK4 VW Jetta are not connected to the frame or body in any way, they are free floating with a cap to keep them from falling out of the tower. When I lifted the jetta and started 4 wheeling with it, I hit a bump too hard ripping the cap off and sending the strut to mount itself into the side of the strut tower, lifting the left side 3 inches

I used to do some contract work with test drivers, we finished with a vehicle and put the OEM wheels back on. I was working with a new kid, the lug nuts didn't seem right, but he assured me that they were. Later that day I took the truck into town to grab lunch, 80mph for a 30 mile round trip. Accidentally took the wrong exit and as I was turning around on this country road all 5 lug nuts popped off of the passenger side wheel and the weight of the truck dropped onto the studs. I had to call to the track for help, and made a few locals mad for blocking the road. We got the right lug nuts on and no harm no foul, but damn that could have killed me.. learned a few lessons.
