0:00 Intro
0:05 As mentioned. Customer brought their vehicle in to get the tires checked. The mechanic found quite the subframe damage on this 2016 Dodge Challenger and the bolt for the lower control arm to have been hammered straight through the bushing. The alignment on this vehicle must be terrible lol.
0:45 As mentioned. Tires were 15 years old and had tread separation.
0:58 Customer said steering wheel wasn't shaking until the shop installed new brakes but as you can see the rim is pretty bent.
1:04 Customer surprisingly drove to the shop on this tire. Mechanic said it still had air in it when it drove in but we took out the air because he didn't feel safe.
1:15 A 2008 BMW 335xi with quite the interesting "custom" exhaust job. Not the worse we've seen but pretty terrible.
1:43 As mentioned. Bus driver had no clue their bus had this huge exhaust leak, but now they know why everybody coughs when they're on the bus.
1:57 Vehicle just had a state safety inspection done at another shop 2 days prior and the mechanic found the RF strut assembly detached and LR upper control arm broken.
2:09 2009 Dodge Journey - Alternator failed internally causing the sparks to happen.
2:27 As described. Customer came in to buy engine oil and the mechanic noticed their vehicle had pretty bald tires!
2:35 As described. A bad connection will definitely cause starting issues.
2:43 Broken axles on a 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500.
2:59 Good reminder to make sure you install the correct size brake rotors & brake pads!
3:10 No need to roll up windows anymore with this awesome modification for classic cars.
3:21 Outro. Thanks for watching! - Auta a dopravní prostředky

Yay your back 👍
Just checked notifications manually...saw you posted. Had to spend money on a Power Probe...no more mister nice guy dealing with electricals lol

Thanks for sharing them with us. makes me appreciate being retired.
That automated window was pretty neat. Keeps the classic look intact.
till some idiot cranks on it and breaks it
Hey! That "manual" power windows trick was a cool idea! Convenience of power windows yet kept the original look to the classic car. Very suave! 😄😎👍👍
Except the first person in your car that doesn't know it's like that is gonna rip that handle right off when they go to roll down the window.
The owner is Rico Suave
@@Kevin-ci1uo Oh hardly, they'd see the window keep moving when the lever stops.
I thought that was a really cool idea.
Yep, very good idea. Power windows in classic car, preserve the look and have modern convenience, well executed. I just wonder if driver has control of all windows and how that was done :)
My tire swing as a kid had more tread on it then some of these tires.
😂
Mine, too.
Same here.
When I bought my first car (used) as a teenager back in the 1970s, I didn’t have much money and so bought the cheapest tires I could find. Overnight, the tires would develop a flat spot where they contacted the road. I would have to drive slow for a few blocks to let them become round again. Otherwise, the car would vibrate violently. The Good Old Days!
I love the ones where they wrap it in tape. It takes me back to when we did that on a friend's car, after noticing a tire worn to the treads. (He was driving it that way.)
As a gearhead, I’ve seen all kinds of genius mechanical gadgets and widgets… but that power window mod blew my mind!
Glad something could surprise you! Lol
3:20 Those are the best power window installs. Everyone looks and says "yuck, roll up windows" then you blow their mind!
yuck crank windows is right. everyone hates them. yet i have always appreciated their reliability.
at 323k miles my crank windows in all 4 doors of my blazer still work and its all original cranks glass and the regulator. the drivers one will need a regulator soon but it owes me nothing.
@@chehystpewpur4754 crank windows also work in a flooded condition, were electric ones would fail (hopefully never needed).
I never disliked them, but I did love the ones that had a gear reduction on there.
@@chehystpewpur4754 "Everyone." Eh. Aren't they only inconvenient for a driver who wants multiple windows open, and has no one else to open the windows? That's the only time I mildly got anywhere near "bothered" with the 84 Caprice that I had. However, my 90 Grand Marquis has trouble with the driver window.
The roll up handle operating the electric window is one of the coolest things I've seen in years !
While admiring the clever power window mod, I was reminded of how much I miss the vent windows. Why did manufacturers remove these? Those vent windows were very useful for controlling fresh air without A/C.
Loved those!
@corey Babcock Had them on my 1992 Jeep Cherokee.
They were the prime entry point for car thieves (and people who locked their keys in)
@@kruleworld I had a car radio stolen
that way. They popped the latch and were able to unlock the door.
I was grateful that they didn't break the glass.
Yeah....I had a few car radios stolen.
Because theft. Also presumably your AC should work is what manufacturers think.
3:00 That's the edge-cleaning brake pads ... a real improvement over 'normal' pads.
For rotor lip prevention
0:46 This clip brings back nightmares. Years back my father was a patient at MDAnderson (a cancer clinic) in Houston, TX. Almost a 600 miles round trip, my dad had little faith in my daily driver, and insisted on me using a Cummins that I had just gotten from auction. When I say I had just gotten it, I mean I hadn't even taken it on a test drive, let alone notice that the tires were over a decade old and was as hard as oversized hockey pucks. We got to MDAnderson just fine, but when leaving the parking lot, there was a very, very, apparent wobble. The wobble went away as we increased velocity, and at 60+ the wobble wasn't even noticable. When we got home (almost 300 miles of driving with a wobble), I noticed that the front-driver side tire was visibly egg shaped. I didn't have to spin the tire, like in the clip, to see that it was out of round. With the truck sitting in the drive way, it was very much apparent to the naked-eye that the tire was totally egg shaped. The tread had really begun to separate from the rest of the tire.
Wow. Glad to hear you guys made it home.
never buy Firestone , now owned by Bridgestone
@@carmineredd1198 What makes them bad?
@@reinbeers5322 Well, there was the time when Ford put undersized tires on their explorers, recommended a lower tire pressure that Firestone did, and then blamed Firestone for the failures and crashes that happened.
Also, never mind that Ford completely redesigned the Explorer suspension after that, lol.
Must be a modern tire thing. I never saw that before with tires that weren't retreads. You can probably be sure that whatever adhesives were used in the past are probably illegal now, lol.
Love those power windows and that switch? Genius!
Same thought. Whoever thought of that knew how to retain the classic but modernize it.
I installed them on a 67 fury a few years back, it worked great and they weren't that badly priced, the only problem is one of my friends is kind of a clyde and he tore the crank window arm off the switch because he thought "it was just stiff"
"Dont eat in my car and don't try to roll the windows down." Lol
@@JustRolledIn I probably need to tell him to quit licking the windows
@@AtomicReverend 😂
That c10 power window was sweet.
I used to drive a school bus, and you have to do a circle check(making sure everything works and is safe) every day, and sign a log book. If it fails anything, you don't pick kids up! That should never have even been rusty, let alone falling apart!
I've heard of "limited slip" differentials.
I've never heard of "total slip" differentials. 🤔
I love this shit...lol.
😂👍
heard of tow mode differentials ? no I haven't
Looks like they somehow managed to break an axle. Something I've only seen on lockers. My old jeep's rear diff does that now, but I never cracked it open to troubleshoot it. I did check the axles and they appear to be intact just from the feel. I broke it grabbing 2nd gear while doing a burnout. Tires hooked up and that was it. I think I either sheared the pinion shaft, or I sheared just the nub off an axle. There is no noise, but very very mild mechanical resistance through the diff. It's a "someday" project, lol.
I know of a 30s truck that had had one... the differential had a pulley in front of it and it
As a mechanic of 30 years, I really appreciate these videos! Makes me regret not taking pics of the things I've seen but we didn't have cell phones then! But I've started! Don't be surprised when I submit a vid!!! :-)

Even if you’re not mechanically inclined, this channel is awesome.
If you are mechanically inclined, it's terrifying! 😀
I’ve seen those automatic window switches before. How awesome!
I have that power window setup on my '66 C10, Electric-life makes the kit - you can even wire it so you can control both windows from the driver's side
That's awesome!
ThAts what I wanted to hear from someone!! Thanks man!! Power windows are great but they don’t help a bit if your not able to open passenger window from drivers seat
@@1982MCI glad I could help someone out 👍
2:09 I had a similar thing happen once. My old truck had an alternator that literally seized up and spun the belt off. Friend of mine and I used a block of wood and a hammer to knock it loose. Well, it came loose, but when I started the truck, it blew the rear bearing out the back and started smoking really bad. I kept finding little ball bearings all over the engine compartment for a month :D
rebuilds are good for that. I helped a number of people replace alternators that had just been replaced.
For myself, I never install a replacement alternator or starter without dissembling and inspecting it first. (I do the same with heater cores. I leak test the new one before it goes in)
You used to be able to buy alternator rebuild kits dirt cheap and do it yourself, but I don't know if you can anymore.
@@l337pwnage My dad would tell me about rebuilding alternators and starters. I suppose you still can if you know what you're doing, but $25 at the junk yard usually works out fine for me. I think I've only ever had one that failed on me from the junk yard.
@@cujoedaman I've been lucky, starter wise, but I have had to rebuild a few alternators. Back in the day for a GM alternator the kit was about $15 and that got you a new front bearing(that took most of the load), brushes, trio-diode(one name I heard it called, I guess you could call it a diode pack, rectifier, etc.), and voltage regulator, and maybe other parts I can't remember. GM's were all bolt-together.
I did rebuilt a Hitachi for a Nissan once and that required soldering.
Junkyards are a great resource also, tho. I, personally, have had hit and miss results with junkyards in that sometimes they just don't feel like helping you our around where I live. So, they just aren't my first "go to" because of some bad experiences.
that alternator reminds me of those old flint toys you could get. You push the car to get the flywheel going and it would make sparks
In UK and other European countries, if tyres have less than 1,6mm tread there is a whole load of trouble awaiting, big fines (more than brand new tyres cost!), penalty points on your driving licence (too many of those and its suspended), and cops set up checkpoints every few months to look out for things like this..
The tires on my '04 Chevy Trailblazer are very nearly down to the wear bars. I have an appointment to get 4 new tires this Friday. (It's Tuesday as I type this.) The tires on the wife's '06 Trailblazer are OK for another winter, then next year we'll replace those, too. Tires have to be replaced periodically. It's like brake pads, you just have to replace them when needed.
Ya, they have all kinds of ways to prevent and discourage car ownership in Europe. I read a story from the U.K. about owners of certain older Corvettes. There is some parking brake test the cars have to pass and when the parts are brand new the cars can barely pass the test, so the owners have to constantly put new parts on to get the cars to pass.
@Alfred Wedmore In the U.S. we figured out how to park a car so that even if the brake failed, it wouldn't roll down a hill. Also, most parking brakes only activate the rear brakes. If you park a light front wheel drive nose first down a hill, it might slide away anyway even with the rear brakes locked up.
Now, I do understand parking brakes being more useful in the U.K. than the U.S., since almost all U.S. vehicles are automatics. But even with manuals, many just leave them in gear. Also, where I'm at, half the year you can't use it because you risk the brake freezing and then you're stuck.
@@l337pwnage Frozen parking brake is a common problem here in Finland. I still use the brake because an unused parking brake is more likely to fail inspection. Our rules do not allow much difference in braking force between left and right rear wheel. I've lost count how many times I failed inspection because of this parking brake rule. Although it's less of a problem now that I can afford "modern" cars with disc brakes on all four wheels.
@@m1k1a1 Were I live we not only fight ice, but salt. So rust also takes out our parking brakes, at least on older vehicles it did. I hope they are not as salt-happy around you. You are right, tho, a well used parking brake will work better. When I was younger, I used to try to use the parking brake, but, with no inspections, and I live in a pretty flat area, the incentive wasn't there for me to keep up that habit. I gave up after a while and just stopped using them except in rare cases. For example, an automatic has a parking pin to hold the vehicle, but if you use it on a hill, it can be hard to shift out of park. The parking brake can prevent that.
Rear disc brakes did change the landscape. Some built the parking brake into the disc caliper, and some use a dedicated park-only brakes. Both tended to work better than drums, however, drum brakes, technically, have more static holding power by design, but only going forward. That's another story, tho.
I wonder what your rules would say about something like an old Jeep flat fender, which has the parking brake on the drive shaft, not on the wheels.
On my CJ, just to be a rebel in my area, I actually did buy all new parking brake cables for it to make it work. However, I'm sure it would not pass any European tests. The stock tires are only 27" in diameter and it now has 32" tires, so the parking brake just doesn't have the holding power for such big tires compared to stock.
3:11 That's BRILLIANT!! Keeping the old crank and using it as up and down switch in a resto mod. Still look original but have power windows now. 👍
I love the last one . If you want to keep your old car looking original I give it an a+
0:42 It actually looks like they might have jumped a curb or something and crashed down on that side of the vehicle fairly hard and in doing so, they twisted the control arm (causing the bolt to rip through the bushing) and bent the subframe.
I also thought that was impact damage and not an attempted repair.
You can tell by the sub frame damage they did one of those dukes of hazzard jumps.
These videos have motivated me to find the date on the tires of the car I bought last year. It makes a funny road noise, and a (real) mechanic said that there's nothing wrong with the rest of the car and that the tires could be out of round "just from sitting somewhere before you bought it." Now I'm thinking that it could be that the tires were made 10 years ago! Neither of us had thought of that. This car is only driven a little, so it's quite conceivable that they haven't fallen apart yet, but might still be ready to...
bias ply tires used to get "out of round" sitting, but I've never seen that with radials and if it does happen, it's probably a problem.
Also, those old tires would smooth out when they warmed up. Any tire that constantly has a wobble or something is bad.
These videos always make me go, "What the **** is wrong with people!"
Nice electric window switch!
👍👍
Back in 2004 we cleaned out a house garage that had been sealed since 1976. Several cool cars and misc. history but the ultimate prize was a pair of NOS Firestone 500's that part of the recall that never got turned in!
Wow! My wife and I have cleaned a handful of older houses and can't say we've ever found anything like that.

The power window crank was definitely the best one
I once had a 30,000 mile 1990s Suzuki Samurai come into the shop I work at with its original tires still on. The customer did agree to purchase a new set, bead took a lot of effort to break. This was around 2017.
I like the last shot of the micro power window switch

I could've ended up in one of these bad tire compilations when I got a '79 Olds Delta 88 on the road in 2015, the tires on it where from around 2003, and on the way to the tire shop, the two rear tires decided to leave their tread in the road.
Damn. Hopefully you were okay. Hoping to pick up a 91 F150 soon and the tires on it are older then sh*t. Will be first thing I replace lol
@@JustRolledIn Was fine, barely made it to the tire shop though! Was about to pull over 'cause the car had rare 15" GM small lug pattern Oldsmobile rally wheels on it. I'm not dumb enough to take tires like those over 35MPH haha!
FYI, I only use local tire shops 'cause the Walmart tire centers around here scare the hell out of me. And any of the other tire places don't like me 'cause they can't throw in unwanted maintenance. Kinda like people trying to sell me a warranty on a 20 year old 250,000 mile Nissan Sentra...

1st Kamikaze Tire Squadron reporting for duty, Sir!!
That rusted out BMW's exhaust pipe is exactly what my older cars' would look like after a couple of months. Granted, I pick up some winter beaters for cheap and one good Sunfire as a long-time daily. On every one of them an exhaust problem would occur which would warrant a trip to a local muffler shop. After chopping off the old and welding on the new it would only be weeks before spots of brown would show up. Before the year was out I could (and did) expect holes from the flex pipe to the muffler. At the prices I was paying it was awful peculiar how and why steel was f*cking up so much so fast.
Fortunately my summer car (1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse) came with a Greddy Ti-C exhaust system. Stainless. That was over 7 years ago and it's still clean as it should be. That's the only good thing the seller did to the poor car. Yeah, it's a "rescue".
So what's the deal with the Challenger at the beginning? Owner took it off-roading? Hopped a few too many curbs? Purposefully drive into every pothole he saw?
Whoa! Very intriguing as always sir!
Thanks, Anthony!

2:00 State inspections dont require to test for suspension parts. Just wheels, tires, lug nuts, pwr steering fluid, brake fluid, seatbelts, lights, horn and wiper blade function and blades (front windshield only), and at least one mirror is required..ahh almost forgot tint specs per state.
That's not a very thorough inspection. The UK MoT requires a rolling road brake test, emissions test and any undue wear in the suspension, chafing brake hoses or any corrosion within 12 inches of a suspension mounting will get you a fail. Oh, and we have to have three mirrors on modern vehicles.
Some cars have different brake sizes depending on the engine you have, not the trim! It is quite important to have the brakes that can tame the ponnies you have under your hood..
