My WINTER tires, the ones that came on my car and are on it currently IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER, are 14 years old. Tread is still pretty good tho, so I really can't justify new tires to my parents

No shit, or flat assed Florida😂
Take a trip to your nearest road course. Driving on the street sucks anyways.
Don’t complain it can’t be as flat as here (the Netherlands)

17 minutes goes by in one minute when you learn so much and it is presented in a great way like this. I knew a lot of this info but not all of it. Plus, I have a 95 Miata so its even more enjoyable for me.
As an america's tire co. Employee I found this video amazing and informative, I'm happy my training was so neatly compressed
When are we getting a "How to roll fenders"
The: "dint want to modify the boty, YET" got me exited 😁
If you modified your car to the point of needing rolled fenders you should know how to lol
Rolling fenders is easy. I highly recommend a heat gun, hammer, grinder, and some biceps 💪. A $30 eBay fender roller will work fine.
Sakis Geo ricer
they touched that when they did the hilow series with the 350z's
Just buy the Eastwood roller or rent it off Facebook if you're to the point on your car to roll

This is honestly the best video on wheels and tires that i've seen yet. I'm just getting into buying my first set, and I think i actually got the hang of it now. Thanks for making this!
Thanks for the bonus points and shout out when you mentioned the people mounting and installing tires! Literally did a brief video on me doing tires like 4 days ago as well lol. Learned a lot from this video, thank you! This series is quickly becoming one of my favourites just like HiLow and Science Garage did!

Tires*
@@sforza209 Guess what? Both "tyre" and "tire" are right. One is just an american "simplification".
@@XStuntManiac How is an "i" simpler than a "y"? It's just a different spelling, so reason or "simplification" behind it.
Chris12000 That’s why he put it in quotes
Fun fact a year later. American English is only different European English because if the printing press and news papers. It was cheaper to just remove letters, like how we have short hand texts. Y cost more ink than I. It was all in an effort to save money, and thus over time it was just fully adopted into the American culture.

Thank you for your fine work! Keep it going! Cheers!
This series is so good, thanks for providing this information. Gives me a little more confidence to start working on my car!
On tire-mounting, the tire valve should be aligned at the yellow marking on the tire because that is the lightest portion of the tire
If it has a red dot without a yellow dot, the red dot should be on the opposing side of the tire valve. That's typically the heaviest portion of the tire
Wow, very informative. I've watch several "car tips" videos and this one is by far the most informative and because of Zach's personality, also entertaining. Thanks, Zach. Well done.
This series is fire, love me some money pit. Keep it up guys, amazing content as always
I remember reading a review on the M3 and they recommended the 17" over the 18" for high performance driving. Take a look at rally tyres and wheels. Bigger wheels are generally for more show.
Yes, it's less rolling mass. That's why Koenigsseg don't put 22 but 20 in agera
Fantastic video Zack. Very comprehensive. Would be cool if you could go into the effects of different SAI (steering axis inclination) and scrub radius since they are directly affected by wheel offset.
Wow I don't know how this old video popped up, but still great knowledge for every car guy and gal to know. Thanks for the video!!
been watching the money pit playlist on loop ti’ll this one came out 😂
This is all honestly great. I did a wheel mod, well, kinda, recently on my car, but was mostly given the generic stats. With your explanation I now know for sure that they were better for the buy, lol, and on how to do a wheel upgrade in the future when I seek to do so. Heck, that even means buying used tires will be better since I can read which are quality.
This video was awesome! Thanks for explaining everything so well and thorough. It definitely helps to finally wrap your head around all of the numbers.

Wow, I’m impressed on how much knowledge I learned from this one video. I felt that I knew what I needed to know about wheels and tires but apparently I didn’t! Thanks donut! I’ll def be watching future “money pit” videos!
Really informative video
One thing worth mentioning is that for Off Road tires the measuring system is often entirely in Imperial Units.
A typical tyre for something like Jeep XJ would be 30x9.5 R15 so 30 inches Tall (entire wheel height), 9 and a half inches wide (tyre width) on a 15 inch diameter rim.
Awesome vid. Definitely a refresher for people in the tire business, and informative for the rest in the community. I cannot tell you how many times ive airchecked a tire here in cali (which, by law, every automotive shop must do in the state of california) and their tires are pumped to at max or even above max psi. Shits scary lol
This guy is fantastic, my favorite new show. I can't wait to see how the Miata turns out.
I just installed RPF1'S on my STI last night and this is in my recommendeds today. Wow. 18 x 10 +38mm with Michelin pilot sports 265mm. So nice.
Jacob Baker get ready to have to buy another set in a year. Michelin’s are better but softer compound and what most people don’t know is they start at around 9/32s where as Pirelli control contact is a harder compound(less tire is lost to the pavement) and start at 11/32s. Just a tip man. Also I’m sure those 265s look so much fatter than the 215 oem or whatever
Also the Pirelli control contact/cinturato will cost less than the Michelin pilot sport
Devin Whitlock those Pirellis aren’t so much for corner grip. They’re like sport touring tires bro. I think that’s why he went with the Michelins.
What year is your sti jacob?

I have a 2004 Mk2 , just had a new timing chain fitted which makes a huge difference to performance. All the best......don’t stop. Most entertaining show since Top Gear ! C
Even though steel rims aren't as popular, I've found them to be MUCH easier to balance compared to most other rim types. Mainly because a lot of steel rims require clamp weights in which you would just measure and let the tire balancer tell you on which side the weight needs to go on. Sticky weights are fairly reliable too but there are so many different types of rims that chances are, if the rim isn't brand new or clean, those sticky weights are useless.

They never covered what kind of tires you’ll be needing for what activities😐
you can do some homework and look up for yourself, i mean you should search "toyo tires" and i'm sure they'll say something about what it's used for: drifting, racing. don't forget: the pressure of the air that it's in the tire is also important
It's something that comes down to the buyer. Obviously for snow rally you'll want snow tires and for autocross you'll want a high performance summer tire... Etc. "Drift tires" are up to the individual as well
Exactly if they said they were going to cover it.. they should, I dont mind researching though

Damn my Firestone Firehawk indy 500 tires passed every test with flying colors comparing them to the information you gave. Treadware 340, traction a, temperate a with a speed rating of 91W 168mph. Put them on my 2013 civic Si a few months ago and they are absolutely amazing for the price too, great in the rain as well even though they are a high performance summer tire. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a GREAT high performance tire. Got mine for 90$ a piece for a 215/45R17 but I think they have gone up in price since the word has gotten out about how good they are because they are a fairly new production of tire.
