If I were to look at a binge and say it's all natural I don't have to do anything and it's all just fine. Then I'd say go ahead and eat...because it's all part of a flow. I'm still missing it.

I'm trying to sum this up...So what I hear your are saying is as an urge comes up say : to eat a jar of peanut butter...we are to divert our hearts/minds to knowing this is just part of life and it doesn't have to be "fixed' I.E. eating the peanut butter. But I still don't know how sitting and waiting when the emotion is so strong to go eat the peanut butter. Should we go take a walk and look at the sky or listen to the birdsong. The urge can be so strong I don't know how you don't get in there. How do you switch over to saying oh just my brain thinking like humans have done for eons and then do something else...knit, quilt, take dog out, get in the car. I still am missing some piece that you are saying. I'm not fully understanding the HOW to not indulge the urge or try to NOT go into the kitchen. Does that make sense?

Danielle Monique You summed it up well. I'm left with the same question as well. I can't take this approach because thats what I've done for the last 11 yrs in this binge eating cycle. I need an answer to stop the cycle. Not continue in hopes of it stopping itself.

Hi Sweet Cbee..I did a private with Amy and it helped so much. I had more clarification and it has really helped. I should have done an update here. Call or email her and set up a consult. It was only 30 minutes and it did help. It's more about just wait...just a few minutes, go outside and don't think about the peanut butter or whatever and breath in and out and notice that at the urge is flighty and it doesn't last, as long as you don't give it thought. \Once you step away from it, for even a moment, you will see that your mind goes to something/anything else. You'll start to think about laundry, or what you are going to do later, and at your center is peace and ease. The craving and urge is not us and it won't last, UNLESS you give it more thought. So pausing and waiting and seeing wow, now I'm thinking about what I have to do at work tomorrow, or I need to get the dog out for a walk, or I forgot to drop off dry-cleaning. The pause is knowing that our thoughts constantly change and shift. So don't give the URGE to eat peanut butter ( my thing) anymore thought than I need to go drop off dry cleaning. It's just a thought...it's our thinking about it, obsessing about it, that leads to binge. If I obsessed over dropping off dry-cleaning, I'd probably get in my car and go to dry cleaners. Does this make sense??

Danielle Monique That makes so much sense. Absolutely. Thanks so much for the clarification.

The best illustration I found is birth pangs. There is nothing you can really do about them, other than observe their discomfort and know that they will pass. But if we aren’t willing to experience the pangs, we won’t experience giving birth to a more spiritual self. At least, this is the illustration I found the most helpful.

I see and understand this. But still when an urge comes up I'm blinded. I get that stuff is moving but when i see it and feel it then what? Ignore? Relax? Stay busy? Sit with It? Thank you for any help 😊😊

IMHO, the energy that we feel (moving thu us) is not random. Experiencing the desire to eat when not hungry, is directly related to our state of mind in that very moment. If I feel good about myself, I'm not likely to head towards frig. Yet, when a person is tense/nervous s/he is more likely to do so. The energy we attract is directly related to out state of mind. Thus, being conscious of this approach, can be very helpful. Just my two cents.

The build up was great. Had high hopes. The answer was not. Actually I did not see the answer. Totally missed it. What was it?

I feel similarly, excellent set up, all of the intentions fantastic, a sliver of very useful truth, that is part of a long-term answer, but lacks the concreteness we all hope for
That’s not Amy‘s fault of course, but I found the teeth of the answer to be in adequate.
