I'm in a permit driver and been practicing my driving skills in highways.. I feel so nervous at first but not to the extent that I panic etc... I was doing good in merging, changing lanes and passing in the left lane with a high speed..., not until that moment when I was merging and suddenly a car from my left side honked his/her horn (I'm really not sure what did I do wrong at that time😢) and I just saw the driver and passenger of that car did the FU at me , they looked angry and overtake me.... the day after that I started having anxiety and fear of driving in highways... my legs started to shake and have palpitations every time I think of going out there (highways only) especially in merging... By the way I'm immigrant ( for 4 months in this foreign country) so I was really kind of shocked when someone just FU'd me 😅 so I think that added up with my anxiety and fear that I might encounter someone like that again...

Good morning, Thank you for your channel - it’s blessing! What you discuss today is called ‘confirmation bias’ - the mind’s habit is to seek what it’s looking for. There’s also an interesting flip side: the mind also learns to ignore evidence right before our eyes that it doesn’t want to see. That’s what has been a challenge for me.🙏❤️

I liked Jerome's question because it very clearly described the different kinds/flavors of thought. Often we feel like we must stop all thinking in order to connect with ourselves/life in a more immediate and real way. This, as far as I know, is pretty much impossible.....or at least it is in a constant way. The mind can use thinking in useful ways and in useless/painful ways. To realize the difference is just a matter of attention. We can, and sometimes do, turn away from unhelpful imagined descriptions of ourselves as a small personal entity destined to fail and then, in a split second, realize the task at hand and engage with it. That focus on what's happening as it's unfolding, without the personal me being in charge of what's happening, contains thought but it's a much more intelligent, results based use of the mind. In other words, thought can be used to engage with the actuality of what is or it can spin stories of what isn't. There's a world of difference between the two but we have to develop a sense of the difference. Personal thinking most often leads to discomfort whereas thinking that's focused on what's actually, immediately impersonally happening doesn't.

I'm exploring the sense of 'me', which is just a thought and I am so comical 😂 Throughout the day the 'me' thinking interpretation brings up fears of other me's and none of this thinking is real, just a thought! The idea of 'me' being separate from the universe is the most bizarre one, the universe is just happening including the thinking process 😊 Love your work, its helped me a lot. Thanks 😊

I agree 100% .. I've seen a couple videos where people teach that your thought aren't yours. LoL Of course they are! That's just another way of disregarding responsibility for how you think. If someone has violent thoughts all the time and they keep stuffing them away and ignoring them, when will those thoughts become reality? Your thoughts come from your mind, so they are really your thoughts. If you're always having negative thoughts which influence your emotions and possibly your behavior, you need to find a healthy way to deal with those thoughts and turn them into something positive. Otherwise, you could be getting bogged down by negative emotionally stunting emotions.

Because I’m just beginning down this road of truth and now that my son needs counseling is the perfect time to bring him down this path. I’d rather not have a traditional therapist distort his already distorted thinking. So much to that 😞

Love - stories are what is keeping us in this. I'm seeing more and more how my stories create more fearful feelings than the actual feeling without stories - usually when I'm simply feeling a sensation without the thoughts about it - it's not scary -- but it's my thoughts about the feeling and I really don't know which comes first - thought or feeling -- and I have a hunch it's usually thoughts - thoughts are more painful than the actual feeling.

Umm the obvious answer... Do not ever put on any job application that you have any illness mental or otherwise! The question that is usually asked on every job application is basically: "Do you have any illness or handicap mental or physical that would prevent you from performing the duties of the position or do you require any special accomodations to perform the job functions?" Your answer should always be NO. First of all they should not be asking anybody that question and quite frankly I am surprised that they are allowed to get away with it. With the employee protection laws against discrimination for reasons like disabilities among other things in place. They shouldn't ask and the people applying should not tell unless they don't want to get hired. It's really none of their business if you do have any medical conditions or not, also if you put on that application that you do whether it's a minor condition or that is controllable or not mental illnesses especially have a bad stigma attached to them and any hiring manager is probably going to look at it and it's going to sound or have the automatic implication on them that the condition is probably maybe worse thaj it actually may be but also anybody in a management position isn't going to want to take the chance to find out or give you the opportunity to show them. I can say with almost full certainty that you will not get called for an interview, the manager or HR person will hire someone else for that position who says on their application that they do not have any illnesses that would interfere with them performing the job. People tend to err on the side of caution and discrimination of any kind isn't right and unfortunately those equal opportunity laws in place are b.s. really, everyone has to play along and appear that they follow those anti discrimination laws but the truth is that people aren't hired all the time because of their genders, races, sexual preferences, appearances or disabilities. Truth is they just deny it or call it something else or come up with another reason or excuse for it when that's exactly what it is and no employer or business wants to be accommodating or have to deal with someone who doesn't require any special needs or might end up being a liability to their other employees, customers or business mentally. Hopefully if it's a mental illness the person would be on their medications and/or be able to keep it under control while at work without issue. Anything else that could possibly interfere with you being at work regularly or having problems while at work like seizures, being in a wheelchair or being blind or deaf, and so on and so on they are legally supposed to accommodate that and not be able to fire someone later on because they have a condition that may interfere. People who have illnesses that limit them from doing certain types of work or working in certain types of environments without issue should be aware of that and be applying for the types of jobs more suitable for them without it being a problem. Otherwise they are really potentially just setting themselves up for disaster. Another question I have been asked many times in job interviews is if I have kids, being a single mother I don't think that's appropriate and that can be discriminated against as well, they don't want you missing work or not being there all the time if your child is sick or whatever else might happen if you don't have someone else who can care for them while you are at work.

Thanks Amy! To me, your response is an excellent example of great coaching. I have experienced this in the past in the same role which Monisha described. One of the hardest things for me was the anger versus loving attention conflict because it created wishful thinking on my part that the behavior wouldn't come back. I feel strongly that: (1) I have to keep myself physically and mentally safe and that owning that responsibility is possible; (2) I want to work continuously toward feeling the other person's pain compassionately, without sympathy, with detached love and understanding; (3) I can allow myself to put any long term affecting decisions off until I feel safe and can review what is optimal. I believe with conscious wisdom and doing the next right thing, I don't need to throw anybody out of my heart. This doesn't eliminate the option of not staying in the same room or conversation with the person expressing angry outbursts or rage. Warning: I am not a coach, I could be wrong! Cheers and Namaste, Monisha and Amy!

As you describe, the direct experience of the immaterial nature of thoughts is fascinating. ‘ ‘We are what we think, with our thoughts we make the world. All that we are arises with our thoughts. Suffering follows an evil thought as surely as the wheel follows the cart drawn by the ox. We are what we think. With our thoughts we make the world. All that we are arises with our thoughts. Joy follows a pure thought as like a shadow that never leaves. 🙏
