  • Our minds create subjective experiences only. These subjective creations that often look like "reality" are illusions of reality. And here's why this is very, very good to know!

    This just came up in my feed, very timely. On my journey this becomes clearer and clearer, sometimes just glimpse then sometimes, wham! We experience everything in our mind, thinking, pain, pleasure our whole reality is experienced this way. But there is always something else, thoughts are a nothing - but we experience them we can know we are thinking, we can choose to believe or not believe them (or though like you say we’re never told this so have to learn) - so what is the thing that believes of disbelieves? This is consciousness, its the real us, ever present that can see that are minds are nonesense. Its a pure, empty, loving knowing of what is. This has been nothing short of joyous to discover. and its always been there in all of us all the time- we just cover it up. We are not are thoughts, its all an illusion. Who we think we are, our very identity doesn’t exist because it is just a thought. The thoughts come and go, and the kicker - we are not even the observer of thoughts, that is just one more thought - we just are! and that is wonderful!

    Thanks for sharing Amy! Interesting that I discovered this video on the day I wondered of our physical reality is simply another level of dreaming. Maybe our subjective realities are each of our own dreams......

    I agree, there is no truth as to what we prescribe as truth . Have fun during life if we suffer or not it is fine it is what life does it is what humans do apple trees produce apples and we do what humans do.

    It's worse than that, you are that conclusion, all those explanations we have, create that talking that constant discourse inside you.
    This gives the impression or illusion that something is there doing the talking, this is the same talking that identifies you and says this is me, this is culture a type of organic programming.
    Without the artificial side of us we call culture we have no way of knowing we exist, because to know anything about your existence you must have knowledge.
    It's like the heart, it doesn't know it is beating, it doesn't say am I doing it right, or what is the meaning of life.
    This is how we are all functioning, autonomously, the freedom of choice is an illusion we are not pulling the strings at all, we are puppets.
    Even the most basic thing we take for granted, for instance the way your eyes see things.
    You think it is you that is doing what you call seeing, but it is automatic while the eyes open it sees, it's just light reflecting off an object onto the retina.
    we take ownership by translating the sight into the framework of our experiencing structure. Then those words which we call our own but we know are common to everyone, and though we know we borrowed them from someone else we let them dictate every aspect of our life.
    The thoughts are not really there at all, just words, that's why they are coming to you in English and why you know what they are.

    @Dr. Amy Johnson
    Amy, are you saying no inner narrative of the self is inherently true? Only a fabrication of mind as thought in order to keep the self in a preserved moment in time in relation to its externality and its past? I believe you are talking about meaning; A story that consciousness makes up to put itself in relation to everything outside of it. It is subjective and ever transforming, making sense of the seeming senseless, changing to fit its own perception to preserve its self image of usually a "good" person. Are you talking about annhiliation of the self? The true understanding of seeing the world without meaning and without self? To see the self as an illusion or what the meditators call "emptiness"? How far can you stretch this idea? Without persona (mask) and without any attachments? What is left that is not illusory? Is it all illusory and without meaning? You speak of how this line of thought can give one happiness, but what is happiness but a glorified elevated subjective experience of the self? Its counterpart being incredibly painful experiences. Without judgement and perception to color the world you are left with emptiness, neither happy or depressed, only experience. It is then that you start to ponder what the meaning of it all is. Reaching the highest aspects teaches non-attachment and that means letting go of life itself. Accepting your mortality unattached to the joys and pains of life.

      The one you refer to I is the ego. From cradle to the morgue the I fills in the blank.
