Floor has gone through a lot. Burnout, surgery of gul platter before singing in Beste Zangers song Euphoria in 2020 or 21, and after that doctors found small cancerous thing in the mammogram she had.
As a huge Floor fan i have to say i got frightened in those last 2 things she had.
I Think Floor and Nightwish was a match in heaven for both of them. At that moment in time both were in a very bad situation and everybody was the saviour for the other one. Very glad it happened...
Floor healed Nightwish and Nightwish healed Floor.
Unfortunately the new mare Dara that was seen in this video died a short time ago. Floor suffered because of this, but recently bought a new horse, just before the birth of her second daughter Lucy
And she speak swedish like a native, after only 6 years livin' here!!!
I think the story of Floor becoming the lead singer of Nightwish is one of the greatest musical stories ever. I would not be surprised if there's a movie someday. I remain in awe of how well Nightwish and Floor mesh.
From not being accepted at school to being the greatest singer on earth. What a revolution. What a power! What a woman. That Hannes has a great taste for music, whisky, cigars but especially for women!! He picked the Jackpot 😉. The real greatness of Floor is not just how she sings, but how she stays herself under this immense pressure. On stage the unbelievable Goddess from another world. Off stage the very friendly lovely sweat mother that loves the simple things of life without any "star habits"..... And that is the real greatness of Floor..

As great as Floor is on stage and as amazing as she can sing my favorite characteristic about her is how normal and down to earth she is.

Thank you for doing this, for getting to know Floor🌷 better.. Now you understand better why we love her so much. That woman, the GODDESS, the Unicorn,is the gift to mankind and must be protected by all means. Plus, she should be nominated as World Treasure. P.S: biologists and paleontologists have given her name to two newly discovered species.
Her voice just it for me, but when I learned how humble and sweet she is as a person, just blew me away even more. She laughs and cuts up with us, calling her Metal Queen or Valkyrie Goddess, well that is my title she will say with a laugh. She will say later on to remind us, but I am just "Floor." No diva at all in that woman.
Yet if the world were to get its collective head out of its collective ass and name her queen, to lead by example,heart, and humility…

As said in the video, Beste Zangers is a Dutch show, Floor participated in the 2019 edition, Sing meinen Song is the German equivalent, she participated in 2022. After every episode, they made a similar "Story" documentary about the main artist of the episode.

Actually this is after Beste Zangers. The program she is talking about is the German version of Best Zangers. She wanted to learn German to make her time on that show better. Her father spoke German well. He was a businessman who went to Germany often. Nightwish saved Floor. When they called she must have thought, "God, I want this." They saved her and she really saved them because they were in the US in the middle of the North American tour without their lead singer who had the Swine Flu bad and also turned out to be pregnant.

The report about Floor on Sing meinen Song surprised me. Not because it shows what a great person Floor is (I already knew that ^^), but how good the report turned out. Yes, her participation in Sing meinen Song didn't have the same "impact" as her participation in Beste Zangers in the Netherlands. But that was due to a few things. The TV station is not one of the main stations in Germany, a lot of competition on the broadcast day from the other stations and the very slightly different concept of Sing meinen Song compared to Beste Zangers. On Sing meinen Song you actually always sing songs by the other artists and apart from Kelvin Jones and SDP, the season was mainly German pop artists. The lyrics are great, but the music itself is not necessarily sophisticated and even Floor can not turn a Ford Model T into a supercar. But she did and absolutly amazing job ..... For not native german speaking people her songs in Sing meinen Song loosing a little bit, but as a german .... to hear Floor singing in German is ..... Mindblowing!
Nevertheless, she has gained a lot of fans in Germany, both as a solo artist and with Nightwish. I've met several people at her solo shows who got to know and love her and Nightwish through Sing meinen Song.

There's a recent documentary on CZcams about Tuomas's music teacher. It's about the Kitee music scene when Nightwish started too, and is surprisingly fascinating. It's called "Once Upon a Time in Kitee - This Is Where It All Started".
This documentary is not from Beste Zangers but from Sing Meinem Song... Beste Zangers is the original Dutch show you have seen many videos from. There she speaks in her native language Dutch. The concept of this Dutch show was sold all over the world. This particular documentary is from a German perspective right before and during she entered the German version of Beste Zangers. That show is called Sing Meinem Song. That is also the reason she was practicing German language with her father. He is a Dutchman of course but he also speaks English and German fluently.
Dutch, Swedish and German are related languages. If you master one, you can learn the others relatively easily. Even after 10 years, Floor can't speak Finnish properly. It comes from the Urals and only the Hungarians speak a similar language. That's why it's much harder for Floor to learn.
Germany has a strong metal scene and has the largest population in Europe, after Russia. This means you can give many concerts in Germany. Nuclear Blast is a German label and there are numerous studios, video producers,... As a metal band you are often in Germany for various reasons. That's why she thought she could speak German well. But she realized in time that it wasn't enough for a real conversation.
It wasn't Nightwish's manager who called Floor, but Tuomas himself. There was no time for anyone else to intervene.
Floor will not have thought about whether she will be the new singer. She was preparing ReVamp's second album and planning the tour for it. When she was asked in the summer of 2013, she was ambivalent about it. She can't refuse the offer, but she also can't be in a regular band alongside Nightwish. It must have been clear to her that in the end a one Band would lose.

Hannes and Floor met on a joint US tour with Sabaton and ReVamp.
The solo album reached number 2 in the album charts in Holland, 19 in Germany and 20 in Switzerland.
The songs from the show are available as audio on CZcams and the videos on the video platform Odysee.
This docu and the show it was attached to was Sing Meinen Song from Germany.
It can be hard to find video of performances as the TV channel seems very dilligent of blocking thrm, but audio is on Floors channel I think, and there are compilation videos; though you dont get full songs and the performances were amazing!
I hate that such a nice person went through such a dark time emotionally, but I think it was leading her to this path she is on.
She literally went from that dark cloud, to joining one of the best bands in the world; one which could satisfy her desire to challenge her voice while caring about crafting the best music possible like she does, then getting to perform all over the world.
She met her husband on one of the tours, bought a beautiful new home with all the outdoors and land she needs to decompress, had her first girl, they built a home studio which has served us all well with her covers, and finally got countrywide recognition in her homeland for her massive talent, as well as worldwide, and now has had her second girl.
She had all these great people surrounding her, in a good place to weather medical issues, cancer, and be reasonable when she pushed herself too much with her pregnancy.
This is where she was meant to be.

You really get the feeling that Floor is good at finding this balance in life, and yes thats a thing to, be able to feel yourself, and what you should put in the beager of life, to make it balance, Floor is super good at this i think, even she also got her tough days, and periods, she got that foundation very solid!!
A inspration to all, that life should be in balance somehow, you might not be as good to find your right paths as Floor, but then use some more time, as long as you find it.
Floor also got past her dark times, not being totally aware of it at start, but taking that break off in the end, and i think it was very lucky for NW, that she just passed this period of break, before they called her up for the 48 hour to learn thing, of that call would have been a year earlier, Floor might not have said yes to this.. but it was just the right time for Floor to start working hard again..
I’m Dutch just like Floor and have watched almost everything there is to see about her. I missed seeing her life in early July but I could totally understand her, why she had to cancel. Next year I’ll get a second chance.
First time seeing her my husband was still alive and together we watched all the episodes of the 2019 edition of ‘Beste Zangers’ featuring Floor. My husband died the next year (brain cancer) but by that time I had researched Floor and had discovered NightWish.
I can truly say that Floors voice and Nightwish has been my salvation because I was broken inside. She fixed me.
Now fast forward three years and I have endured three more losses of people close to me. Every time when I feel that grief swallowing me whole I listen to Floor. Her voice has healing powers.

Great footage. Floor is very down to earth and not spoiled. She is really sweet. In Holland we learn English, German and French and at higher education also Latin, Greek and Spanish. Dutchies are multilangual. Her dad speaks fluintly German too.
I have the same as Floor and you. Always aware that I was different, kids were not very kind at school and I did not feel myself in mainstream music and the scene. Since my 13th birthday I was a metalhead and found people that are still my friends. Too much crowsd, oh no. Only for concerts and festivals 🙂 I need me-time with my horse and dogs and live very remote. Recharging!

Floor adjusted a lot of songs and it's awesome that Tuomas and the others let her do that. With After Forever and Revamp, she wrote a lot of songs (music and lyrics)
Devil and the deep dark ocean, was not my favorite....but what she did with the song, made it totally different and now I love it.
Thuomas was laughing in an interview, that with Floor and Troy he could write everything he wants.

I think I read or saw that she can sing in 5 languages. Shes incredible.
Actually, she has sung in at least 8 and she speaks 5 - 4 of them fluently (Dutch, English, German and Swedish and some Finnish).
Floor can speak 7 languages quite well. It is impressive.
Singing in a different language isn't that hard, you just learn the pronunciation.
Floor is fluent in Dutch (surprise), English and Swedish, and speaks German reasonably well. She can also understand French and Finnish, but is not fluent.
As a singer, you have an ear for sounds and languages. This makes it easier for them to learn languages.

This is an interesting documentary, but that German show was godawful, if I'm being honest. Floor was about 1 million lightyears ahead of everybody else (unlike Beste Zangers where the other singers were actually good), and had to just keep a straight face most of the time. Watching the others sing "her" songs really made me cringe.😝

However, I have to admit that, apart from one case, I imagined it would be much worse. I was really afraid of Lotte's version of Noise .... and was surprised. Yes, it's completely different, but it's absolutely recognizable which song it's supposed to be.
That's what drew me to Floor she isn't one of these diva no talent singers we have here in the USA
