- Few work vehicles out there get so seriously abused in the line of duty than that of tornado chasers and the 1996 film Twister portrays this fact quite clearly. Among the tough yet sadly executed main vehicles in this movie are a 1995 Dodge Ram, a 1983 Jeep pickup truck, and a 1989 Chevy Suburban.
It's the power of nature vs vehicles here folks!

_Twister_ wasn’t just a movie about storm chasers, it was a 90-minute-long commercial for the new Dodge Ram. I wonder who much Ram sales soared after the movie came out.
They sold over 400,000 rams the year this came out
@@wyattlewis8559 Thanks.
I know dad was one of those people. He bought “Big Red” immediately after watching Twister.
Yes
@@adriananoelle4699 Cool. My brother-in-law had a blue Ram just like Bill's in the movie from 2001 until 2015 when it was sideswiped by a garbage truck. It still started and drove though; that's when Dodge built them to last.
"Its a very pretty truck"
"Don't even think about it"
"Insured?"
"Liability _only._ 😠"
No way😂😂❤
Does it anyways** 😂
That Dodge Ram is so badass. Definitely the star of the entire movie
Because of this movie, i always had respect and a special feeling for that RAM! They made it look so badass 😀
They always look badass
It's sad 2 great actors in this movie passed away already
I know they probably had multiple backup Rams, but damn this truck took some serious abuse
it was only 1 Ram they used throughout the movie, it was like a Toyota there, unkillable
@@300zxturbofromteamexcite8 really??? I thought there were different ones because in some scenes the damage never lined up with what happened previously to it
Maybe becuz it was red ?
I think it was only 2 models. In scenes you see that the model number on the side changes.
There were two Rams used in this movie, a 1500 and a 2500. Apparently the number of spokes change in different shots
25 years later this film still looks amazing. fun fact: they used 5 dodge ram trucks for the film and if you look closely in some scenes you will notice the number on the side of the truck denoting its size will change from 2500 to 1500. they also used 4 Jeep Gladiator Honchos for Jo's truck all of varying years from the 1980s all of them were made to look alike by the production staff and have numbers 1-4 welded onto their drivers side front bumpers.. 2 were destroyed, 1 was kept by Warner Bros studio and displayed in the twister museum in Wakita Oklahoma for a year then taken to California and sold , the other is displayed at the Car Museum in Gatlinburg Tennessee.
@1:40 I know what that feeling is like. I'm an advanced SKYWARN storm chaser myself. To charge at a storm no matter what kind it is, that is badass. Oh, & I absolutely do chase to "Twister" tunes. Never gets old hearing that music.
1:12
900 miles.. Brand new 2nd gen.
It gets fully broken in by the end of the film
I just realized where my love of Cars/Trucks/Dodge Rams and Van Halen came from seeing this movie visiting the grandparents in Kansas as a kid
I was 7 when this came out in ‘96. Ever since I ever saw this movie, I always wanted a big Dodge truck. Thus, a Dodge man was born!
Wonder how many transmissions they went through in this movie lol still a great movie.
Probably 0
@@martin6123 I was joking around when I posted that comment. I own one of these trucks
Ah ok, I was just trying to be clever. It never works out 🤣
And a parts for the dodge
@@regera_xxyt299 oh yeah they were pretty trucks. Just wish the auto transmissions behind the diesel were better
That tornado in the movie is a monster
This movie was pretty much a Dodge Ram commercial
Only movie I've seen featuring a 2nd Gen Dodge Ram being used in heavy action and adventure. Anyone notice that the film used a Dodge Ram 1500 and 2500? Can tell by the wheel bolt pattern from 5 lug to 8 lug and the rear axle. Still an icon nonetheless, excellent film of the Dodge Ram and exquisite film of the movie itself. It depicts the natural dangers of documenting and studying tornadoes and easily the best CGI of 1996... we are in 2022. I wish movies were still made like Twister these days. Great Vid!
1:13 it would be nice to have that truck with that many miles on it
Look at how quick it was
V10
The Dodge passed the moose test @ 1:05
At about 10mph.
this movie was so much fun for me as a kid
5:07 this front grille is made in a special plastic-titanium alloy
Fun fact was that Ford lobbied hard to have this movie feature the 1997 Ford f150 but lost out to Dodge
I hope this movie will be coming out in 4k soon
This was one of the greatest tornado movies
Imagine the Ford station wagon flying towards that car pit, then the Ford truck sliding off the drive on hoist while you and bunch of others are trying to survive an EF4 tornado.
Also the Dodge Ram coming out of the semi explosion is absolutely fantastic. One of my favourite scenes in this movie.
But imagine being in the black Suburban, your driver is killed, and you get picked up by the twister only to be dropped down and die.
*F4
@@Firemarioflower Tornadoes are measure on the Enhanced Fujita scale. I am correct with the terminology.
One of the greatest movies of all time
This vídeo is perfect men. Era lo que estaba buscando
3:38 😂.....STEP ON IT AND LIKE THE SOUND OF TIRES SPINNING LOL😂
No wonder 90s Generation Rams are still used nearly 30 years later.
I don't think any Ford or GM product could take the abuse that Dodge did
Amen!
the 88-98 Chevy CKs could definitely hold their own like this Ram
I-its a movie? It's fake you know lol
@@FordFan01 Yes I know, and the 2nd gen Dodge is a complete tank and virtually indestructible. It is one of the best trucks ever made and I would not be surprised if it could take what the movie portrayed in real life
@@regera_xxyt299 My uncle has a 96 Cummins 2500 Club Cab and it has about 390k miles on it. It is more rust than metal and its dash is in pieces but that is all that is wrong with it other than a few minor issues here and there. 2nd gen Dodges are truly indestructible
2:02 car wash!!!!
I really miss ram
4:38 “DEBRIS”
REED TIMMER WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION
There was a dodge for sale in my town that was almost exactly the same as the movie truck (except it was silver) same camper shell and all that. Kinda regret not buying it and repainting it red. Ohh well.
Look around for another
Have to love that Dodge V10 torque at ~1:10.
1:27 has the abs been removed of is there no grip on the road surface those wheels locked up easy
This movie was wicked cool and rest in peace to bill Paxton and Philip Hoffman
Jonas'es Duelly Suburban doesn't get the credit of a badass movie vehicle it deserves.
lol At 1:12 he floors it and the tachometer barely climbs above 1,500rpms while the speedometer is flying up.
I noticed that I was like wth 😭😭 I have a second gen and that looked like he was in 4th gear and let me tell you the acceleration from 4th is not that fast unless you’re already going 70
Magnum v10
I love twister movie
Toyota Hilux, Tacoma and Tundra: he's the chosen one !
😂Perfect
No other trucks looked that good back then
2:00 start car wash like tornado
Ever since this movie, I've loved ram, especially the 2nd gen. I've had 3, gas and diesel. Now I need a single cab long bed then I'd have every body style
God i forgot how much of a beating the Ram takes in this
Amazing movie and also amazing ram and pepsi commercial
I love the ram red
litterally no one:
the Jeep J10: BAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Great comment from MichaelID8393! My daughter loved it too!
Did Twister win any Oscars!? If not it should have! 😊
Yes. The soundtrack for the movie did.
Ok lol Movie Trivia question @ 4:20 the Dodge comes driving out of the huge fire what other movie did this? LMBO both vehicles are made by Chrysler lol its dumb I know but just thought of that lol
so bad ass man
It was the true star of the show and was sacrificed to get Dorothy IV up in the air.
The end lol
I getthey had many rams especially after they were dodging those things in the road, one of them busted the windshield but in the next couple of seconds its not there lol
Guest starring the Semi from the movie 'Duel' and the tire from the movie 'Rubber'! Can you find them both?
Its a shame the self repairing tailgate didn't catch on
1:13 airbag light
and holy crap truck isn’t even broken in
Typical Dode Ram. My friends and I are die hard Dodge Ram owners but we always joke around when it comes to electronics and sensors on these trucks.
They disabled it for the movie but that's fucking hilarious
System was disabled for the film. If they hadn't... they one have gone off during filming.
I wonder how much Dodge sales went up after this movie. I worked for a place that was a part of a ranch and everyone had the new Rams about this time lol
they sold 480,000 2rd gen dodge rams that year
1:12. Air bag warning ...at least is no damn check engine light
They disabled the airbags for the movie. Truck would have set them off if they didn't.
Lets not forget all the dodge caravans for the bad guy. Mopars all over this movie!
Best car action or Best truck action lol
4:21
Can I tell you what I think would make this movie more interesting, if the cars could talk. That would make it more interesting. The cars would not swear however because they don’t say those words.
Dodge ram 2500 V10 1995 ❤❤
I just want to know why didn’t bill get 4 wheel drive
@4:48 movie mistake the metal breaks the windshield but appears like normal after
They used 5 of these in the movie
My question is who drove there truck harder Chuck Norris or Bill Paxton
0:13 fucking badass
فلم هندي، لكن يستاهل الرام
Now I understand why my dad bought a 2nd gen
I miss bill paxton
Burning rubber gets me excited
Have always wondered how they shot that whole scene..
I’ll bet Dodge made a bargain off that truck in the movie
Its not a Dodge unless your dashboard has cracks in it
Pov: you live in Oaklahoma
1:20 Very inaccurate, the reverse never worked in them
Can confirm
100th comment
I love twister movie
