    In this video will will show you how to set the timing and timing marks on Kia Forte K3 ( Cerato) generation 2012-2018 with the 1.8 engine or 2.0 NU engine (verify). Kia Sportage and Soul uses that engine in some of their vehicles so the procedure should apply to it.

    In the video I didn't hear or see anything about when you put at TDC if it should be on compression or exhaust stroke or does it matter. Does the crankshaft and camshaft sensors along with ECU take care of this???

    Thank you for your videos, they’re very helpful, I’m doing my timing chain replacement in a 2012 Kia Soul 2.0 but I’m running into a problem, I can’t align the 3 mark points and the 2 parallel center lines

    Do you know the specs for the chain ?? What’s the max extension of the tensioner? Trying to determine if chain is stretched or not. Thanks!!

    Whats the reason for turning the engine two revolutions if the marks are already aligned with the gold links and the cam sprocket lines match?

    You mentioned some parts are interchangeable between the 1.8 and the 2.0. Do you know if that would apply to the turbo. Will a turbo of a 2.0 fit on a 1.8 engine on a 2015 Kia Forte?

    Hey guy's great video. But the Kia Soul engine compartment is so much smaller than the Forte. It not as easy to get to timing cover bolts. It's so small you have to remove the engine mount to remove the long alternator bolt.

    I have a 2015 Kia Optima with the 2.4 liter engine and it has a slight rattle on startup but only lasts a few seconds. The car has 160000 km. on it. The engine is quiet and runs great. Should I replace the chain right away or can I wait until it gets worse?

      You are probably hearing a slight valve chatter. You might want to check into that first.

    I am replacing CVVT gears, timing chain, guides, and tensioner, on 2017 Kia Forte 2.0L Nu. There appears to be two different kinds of chain for this engine. One, which I DO NOT have, looks like a simple bicycle chain. The "real" one looks like the chain you show in this video, 24321-2E000. I ordered this part number from KIA, and got the "wrong" chain, like a bicycle chain. How can this be? Also, some CVVT gears, both intake, and exhaust, look like they take the bicycle chain type, while those in this video show the "real" cogs on the gears, with "V" profile, whereas the "bicycle" chain cogs have a simpler rounded profile. Again, how can this be? Please list the "correct" part numbers for the CVVT gears, which have the "V" profile. Thanks!!!

    Hey bud Hope all is well. I have a 2015 Kia Forte LX 1.8 with 341,000 miles. Not bad humm? Wondering if I should replace my timing chain at this point. The car is running fine, and I think the water pump is little bit loud when I first start it in the morning. Pretty much the car runs for 9 hours straight. Uber driving. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

      @@miltinhao Damm that's excellent. Have you ever changed the struts? What milage? I have a Sportage 18 90,000 and runs like a dream. I take care of it the best I can. Transmission fluid change every 40-50k and engine oil every 5k. Etc

    • @miltinhao
      @miltinhao Před 2 měsíci

      @@megaman010391 Well, I have been driving for both Rideshare gigs now for 9 years and almost 30,000 fares. Pretty much the suspension parts have been replaced at least once, except the axles. The breakdown is more or less like this: 2 batteries, front struts once, rear twice, starter, alternator and ac compressor once; spark plugs twice, serpentine belt twice; upper radiator hose once, not the lower, thermostat once. Transmission drain and fill 4 times and oil change every 5k synthetic only. And once I leave the house, I leave it running all day or night. For example, from Orlando to Austin, running all the time. 20 hours one way. Not bad thank God.
