Delacroix is one of Louisiana's greatest inshore fishing destinations for speckled trout and redfish, and that's exactly what I went to target out of Sweetwater Marina in the early morning hours of this August fishing trip.
Plan A was to catch a limit of speckled trout on rigs and islands or under diving birds and, if that didn't go well, then roll over to Plan B in search of an excellent redfish bite.
The day was more than just a fishing trip, it was an adventure! I ran from lighting, water spouts, blinding rain, got hooked in the knee and found some awesome speckled trout and redfish action.
Watch it all unfold in this fishing trip to Delacroix.

This is the best fishing channel. I am new to saltwater fishing and have no idea what I’m doing. 😂
Thank you for the kind words and, of course, thanks for watching.
Teaching inshore fishing is what I do, and I think you really ought to consider taking my FREE course, Fall Fish Location.
You can find it here: www.lafbelite.com/course/easily-locate-speckled-trout-redfish-during-the-fall-pattern/
Tight lines!
Louisiana Fishing Blog DONE! Looking forward to it. Do you have a patreon or any other way for me to contribute?
I wasn’t able to access the course. I watched the intro and when I went back in, it wouldn’t let me access. I went ahead and did the monthly subscription
I as a fellow fishermen appreciate you taking the time to show all people's who wish to enjoy the amazing louisiana coast line and the special trout and fedfish that live in those areas.
Best film in awhile loved the sight fishing.
Thanks, Gary. I hope others enjoy it as much as you have.
That beginning clip tho 🤯🤘🤘🤘
Big Bajio fan so far, bought first pair in key west this april...im sold.
Pls keep making these videos!!!!! They are so helpful!!! And they are awesome!!! Who’s double hooks a red fish!!!!!
Will do. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video with tons of info n tips!!!
Thank you. Filming with the Boom makes life a lot easier, too.
Awesome video man!
Thanks for the visit
Hahaha badass intro and even better full video Devin, gotta love those hard charging big shouldered marsh reds
Man, wait until Sunday's video. It's gonna make this one look stupid! lol
Thanks for watching, Wesley!
@@LAFishBlog you’re welcome! Im never far behind when you post a video, always fun to watch and I learn quite a bit. I wish I was closer to the marsh so I could try it all out on my off days
i took your tip and i caught 2 of my best specks ever gotta love it the tide line worked good caught 2 18 incher
Those are nice fish. Glad to hear it!
Thanks for all the info. I can’t wait till I get a boat and I can go down there and try some. I fished roadsides of Delacroix last month and would of got skunked if it wasn’t for the little gar I kept catching.
Man, you really don't need much to go sight fishing year round. I did it in a 12ft Alweld for awhile. Good luck!
My second home! Thanks for the vid
Glad you enjoyed it!
The double hookup
Made me subscribe lol
It’s amazing that clear water with dark bottom makes those fish so red and clear water with a sand bottom makes them solid silver. Great video cap! Keep it up. I know it’s a ton of work doing the editing and filming and it doesn’t go un recognized. 👍
lol thanks noticing, Justin. It totally is, but I'm getting the hang of it.
@@LAFishBlog anytime u want to go out of ms to chandy let me know I have a 24 bay and we can swap an la Marsh run.
@@justinferrill8583 Yeah, Chandy is great. Fished it a bunch. It's pretty cool you dig it, too. Anyway. I appreciate the offer, but I really don't have the time. Lots of video to edit. lol
intro was insane
Thank you!
Devin- we bout to catch 23 more right now
10 seconds later
Devin- this ain’t gonna work, we gotta move
Was that your new boat with the Honda motor I can see in your post just behind at mid leg

I'm really hung up on getting that on film now.
I am a bass guy around Toledo bend. Have a 21 foot bass boat, and a 15 foot jon boat with a15. Looking to fish inshore this fall.

You hip held the redfish like it was a child lol. And sub to the double fisted intro.
lol yes I did....didn't even really notice that lol thanks for watching!
Its so funny how strong there mouths are wow they could bust concrete lol. And teeth watch them they will get ya 😮😂 keep up great videos do you sell jigs and popping corks i always see them hanging behind you when your in your shop where can i find them if you do ?
what lure where you using if you mind if i ask?
Do eeeet nowwwww
Where in Delacroix were you catching these?
Double sightcasted hookup on the intro??? Damn!
Gotta raise the bar as high I can. lol
Black Bay is more misses than hits. Believe it or not sometimes the fish are there but don’t want plastics. Cisco was out there Saturday whenever we was inside. He was with a friend on his charter they caught 55 on live shrimp they wanted nothing to do with plastics. Nice job on the double bulldogs I was waiting on the other pole to go bye bye lol
I really ought to fish it more and figure out a pattern. Going out on a single trip and expecting to crack the code isn't unrealistic, but certainly a tall order.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate your videos as well and encourage anyone enjoying these to head on over to your channel.
@@LAFishBlog thanks for the support
Did anyone see the lightning strike at 9:38?
Did you guys really not see that?!?
Cool video! Man i gotta get down there. Where is a good place to stay down there if i am dragging a boat down?
I have no idea. I'd probably check Yelp, or VRBO, or AirBnB. I'm guessing you could find some great information on there.
You hooked yourself, lol. Been there, done that! The best time I hooked myself, it took urgent care to remove the hook! 3/0 Kahle buried to the bone in a finger on my right hand.
It really wasn't that bad, I am thankful for that. It bled all over my leg, but I'm not sure that video made the cut.
A 3/0 hook going anywhere does not sound like a pleasant day. LOL
@@LAFishBlog It was my own fault I hooked myself. I was holding the leader above the hook with tension in the line, and it slipped. It wasn’t painful, but my pride was hurt, lol.
Any pointers for having your equipment in saltwater? Cool video 👍🏾👍🏾
Just like anything, take good care of it and it will take good care of you.
Hey Devin, what's the name of the 2 sunglass brands you're wearing?
Thank you for commenting. Those are Bajio sunglasses. Here's their website: bajiosunglasses.com/
2 reds 1 hook(UP)
It's really on my mind to get that done now lol
Those glasses look interesting, especially how they engineered bio into their frames and most other components are recycled, I know that adds to cost, but it also uses up the trash that found in the water! The company also states they are a Florida based company! My question is, on a fishing podcast they were talking about buying sunglasses for exactly what you’ve mentioned here and they said to make sure to be fitted by someone who has been trained with their components, do you feel that to be the case?
Well, seeing that the only place around south Louisiana (that I know of) where you can see these frames in person is Chag's. So....I guess it's besides the point.
At the end of the day you just gotta try on different frames until you find what's good for you, and you really won't know how comfortable they are until you've worn them for awhile.
@@LAFishBlog agreed!
I see you took time to read about them. That's pretty cool.
you try daiwa proteus or isla inshore rods yet?
They're great rods.
Can we get a tackle Tuesday on your spinning rod set up?
Which spinning setup are you referring to?
What are the name of the sunglasses?
Bajio Sunglasses
The frames I'm wearing are Bales Beach.
