    If I had known there would be as much rain and lightning as there was I would have never launched the boat into Lake Borgne.
    Never!
    Windfinder, as well as other weather services, only predicted a couple hours of light rain and, what was really appeasing to me, light wind and calm seas.
    But you know the old saying, "Ya gotta go to know" and that's exactly what happened.
    Lightning and rain chased me off my intended fishing spots, mostly rigs in Lake Borgne, and I had to roll with the punches in order to make the day happen.
    Watch it all unfold in this week's fishing video.

      @johnkarges8829 Před rokem +1

      @Paul T, we’ve had static arcing between rod tips in the rocket launchers as a squall or electric storm approached in Texas’ Laguna Madre. The air sounds like sizzling bacon. We take the rods out and lay them in the deck and then get down there with them, trying to lower all profiles and lightning rods. Graphite is a great conductor. We also had the air so full of charged static the line keeps rising or hovers, even as the lure descends. That’s another time we either duck down or run for cover.

    Years ago around Morgan City, a guy didn't come home from fishing in that kind of weather, they found him the next day on the bottom of his boat--lightning got him

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah, he probably did the opposite of what I did and ran through the storm to supposed "safety".
      One time I had a buddy who ran into a bunker during a mortar attack and, some frikkin' how, a mortar sailed perfectly into the door, plastered the guy next to him and did a good number on him as well.
      If he had stayed outside he would have been fine.
      Ever since then, and many more personal experiences like it since then, I've learned that perception is not reality, and not to tempt fate but that - most important - when it's your time, it is your time.
      That's it. Nothing less, nothing more.
      Might as well accept that reality now, because you're gonna die anyway.
